Re: Michigan Road Trip - June/ Suggestions?

Thanks Guys! Good information.
Jim, Really appreciate the pics as well. M22 is on my list, looked like a nice quiet road.
We leave Friday, most likely in the rain. Ughh!

Re: Michigan Road Trip - June/ Suggestions?

Great suggestions. We will do that.
As usual, never disappointed when asking advice on this site.
As a side note, my dad is 78 years old and is super exited about this trip. He is going out everyday riding 200-250 miles to get ready.

Thanks!!!

Re: Michigan Road Trip - June/ Suggestions?

Thanks!
My plan was to come down 400 from Sudbury and try to skirt around Toronto. Think I will change the plan. Should I go west somewhere off of 400, head south toward Brantford then 403 to Niagara?

Re: Michigan Road Trip - June/ Suggestions?

BT,
Sounds like a fun time but we are leaving VA on June 22 so the dates aren't going to work for me. Looks like that trip is mid-July.
Thanks for the invite!

Michigan Road Trip - June/ Suggestions?

Hello, Live in SW VA and my Dad (2007 Honda Aero 750), myself and my wife (2000 GL1500 SE) are leaving on a trip at the end of this month. Tentative plan is to head up thru WV, OH and IN then to west coast of Michigan. Up the west coast thru tunnel of trees, cross Mackinaw Bridge then head into Cana...

Re: deer alerts

I read thru most but not all of these posts. The "loud pipes" argument we frequently hear is bogus in so many ways, another post subject. Three weeks ago I was out on my 2008 HD Super Glide for a short ride in mountains around Floyd, VA (anyone know where that is?). Full disclosure, when I...

Situational Awareness

This may have been mentioned before but not bad idea to mention again. We all think the post title, Situational Awareness, only applies to the area of personal safety/ defense. Applies a lot to the way we ride. This past Sunday I was on my way to a wedding in Clemmons, NC. As a side story once I got...

Re: New helmets n blue tooth intercom

Scooter, Sounds like it was a great trip, planning something similar next year for us. Sorry to hear about the theft. My wife and I bought the same helmets last year and really like them. We opted for the Scala Rider G9x (bought at same time) instead of the Sena. Wished we had went with the Sena 20s...

Re: replacing my horn

The sound comes out from many places. I had the same concern so I played with the horn a bit before installing. Not a lot of difference in sound after final installation. Does not sound muffled. Give it a try, not very expensive and the power is already there. It took me a few times of taking apart ...

Re: replacing my horn

Bluewater, I just finished mounting a WOLO Bad Boy 419 on my 2000 GL1500SE this afternoon. This is really a loud horn, will surely be an attention getter! Had the same question, where to mount this horn. No room I could find in the under fairing, did not have room to put above fender, did not want t...

Hello, I am looking for riding gear for my grandson. Anyone on site have any used gear that the kids have outgrown? Not having any luck with ebay or craiglist. He is 9 years old so really don't want to go with new, will outgrow in a year or two. The boy rides with me quite a bit and really would lik...

Re: Adapter for automotive lift

WingAdmin, I would like to lift bike under frame, like the HF lift I am using now so wheels can be removed. Haven't been able to find a mfg. that makes one of these but still looking. Do you remember where you saw these at? I will likely build something but was curious if anyone else had done this. ...

Re: head light out

Mm, I bought my first Goldwing 2 years ago. Headlight would not come on after a couple of weeks (all other lights worked) and I had the same reaction as you, what is going on! Not an expert by any means but mine was a dirty switch/connection in assembly where the hi/lo toggle switch is. Took switch ...

Re: Missing center stand rear tire removal

Beetleman, The m/c lifts at Harbor Freight are not expensive and work well. Look on their website and you can usually find a digital coupon for 20% off one item. Puts cost of lift around $75. Well worth the money and you won't regret it. Some ratchet straps would be a good addition, need to strap do...

keithg64,
Not a ramp type lift, has 4 arms that swing in. Probably should have mentioned that.

Adapter for automotive lift

Hello, I have recently installed a 2 post automotive lift in my shop. Has anyone seen/ used/ built an adapter for lifting their Goldwing on a lift of this type? Would like to build one later this year and looking for ideas. I already have a small MC lift from Harbor Freight, just looking to try some...

CT,
That was the issue. Once I made sure the pivot bolt was in all the way everything slipped together and turns smoothly.
Thanks! :D

Thanks CT, I will check the alignment. Put the swing arm pivot bolt back in but did not fully tighten or torque. It may not have been in all the way.

Help Needed: Universal Joint Install

Hello, Had a vibration during deceleration starting at the end of last summer. The great articles/ how-to's on this site led me to the universal joint. Bike is a 2000 Gl1500SE with only 45K so I thought the u-joint was a long shot. Once apart it was not worn out but did have one spot that would bind...

Re: Bluetooth Headsets

Last year I was researching the same thing. Had decided on the the Sena 20S. When I went to the local dealer to look at helmets, they had the ScalaRider G9x Power Pack Dual units on sale. Couldn't pass up the price. Ended up buying 2 HJC Imax-2 modular helmets and the G9x Dual units. We really like ...

Hello, One of my headlights on 2000 GL1500SE went out this weekend and I am considering the HID conversion. It appears from reading this post that the GL1500 HID kits from SoCalMotoGear @ Cyclemax are now plug-n-play. Agree with Wingman12 and Eidolon about needing wiring specifics to prevent the ext...

Re: helmet intercom system ?

I went thru same thing this Spring. Narrowed it down to Cardo Scala Rider or Sena SM-20, both dual sets, was a toss up between these two. Had pretty much decided on Sena but when I got to the local dealer the Scala units were on sale. Deal was hard to pass up. We bought the Cardo Scala Rider G9x Dua...
