Re: Starter Problem

I agree with Andy, have the battery load tested, that will tell you if it is any good or not. The Goldwings are very picky about having the correct volts and amps to start. If the voltage drops below a certain point which I also believe is around 11.8 volts all the systems required for the bike to s...

Re: Which loctite?

Any thread locker will eventually destroy the ABS plastic on the bike. The plastic will craze and then start to crumble and at that point all you can do is replace it. Keep thread locker away from plastic parts. Okay. With all that in mind, would it be better to avoid even using a thread locker on ...

Anyone looking for a 1989 GL1500

Took some parts to the powder coater today and they asked if I wanted to buy their Goldwing. They said make an offer, I looked at it quickly,it is in back of their shop, covered in dust and spider webs, battery is dead so no idea of the miles. If someone is looking I can find out more, I would be te...

Re: Floor boards

Hey thanks for the help on my seat dilemma. Now another question. I put floorboards on my ‘14 GL1800 and the heel/toe shifter continually loosens up. I’ve reamed and polished and lubed the pivot pin, put thread locker on that flathead screw the holds the shifter to the pivot... no luck. Maybe a cot...

Maybe, but other metric bikes are not using that color code.
But really does not matter as long as you know what color carries what function

Re: Exhaust Shield Paint

Most places that sell automotive paint have either color analyzers, like Home Depot or Lowes, so they can match any color, in the old days they had these color cards with an oval hole in the middle, you lay the card up against the paint and switch them until you found a match, if your eyes were good...

Re: Replacement 2014 Tail Light

A couple of comments I just replaced my rear bulbs with LEDs. Now I have to swap out the Flasher as the OEM flasher does not work well with LEDs (rapid flashing due to resistance). I have the flasher but need a full day to take the nose apart to get at the flasher. Make sure the flasher you are goin...

Re: Turn signal OEM Pin outs

I can tell you that according to the wiring diagram I have for my 2013 GL the wire colors used are: Brown with white stripe = Tail light Orange = Left turn Light Blue = Right turn Green = Ground I would hope that Honda kept the same wire colors/function as they went from year to year, so maybe those...

Re: Need a gut check please

Just got back from looking at it, engine is seized , brakes are shot, radiator has been patched and the gas tank full of rust, I passed, more work than I would have time for. The plastic and the exhaust are easily worth 2-3x that price alone. That's if they are in good condition. Easily could get a...

Re: Need a gut check please

Thanks,
I was thinking pretty much the same , funny thing is it just a few blocks away on my street, I have walked past it hundreds of times and always tell myself to go knock on the door and find out if it is for sale. Have an appointment to see it in about 30 minutes.

Re: problem with radio volume

I just recently purchased a 2002 Goldwing 1800 and the radio worked just fine. Then one day, the volume on the radio went very low and I lost it completely. After driving for awhile, the volume came back on then it went soft again. I tried looking for a broken wire or loose ground but could not fin...

So I am not the only one to have this problem. I kind of thought I was not alone. I have emailed Andrew and not reply. I used Bushtec's contact page a few days ago and still no reply. I am going to give Bushtec a few more days and maybe call them before I go into the specifics on my trailer. I have...

Re: iPhone read as an iPod

On my 2013, I use my iPhone connected to the USB in the trunk almost exclusively for music, it shows as an iPod, on mine I have to hit the AUX button twice for it to play my Pandora stations or my prerecorded music. I have never tried to use the maps app on my iPhone while on the bike, use my Garmin...

Re: Trailer Electrical Wiring

This sounds like a grounding problem, because the only thing you are changing when you connect the trailer to the bike hitch is the ground path. Verify that there are no grounded power wires on the trailer. Remove the bulbs and check the power side of all 4 lighting circuits to ground to verify that...

I have a 2012 Goldwing1800. I am trying to install a trailer hitch and wiring. While I have installed trailer wiring on many cars this is the first bike I have attempted. I have purchased a sub assembly harness but I am a bit confused as to what else is needed for this project, With prices of the r...

OK this is straight from a GOOGLE search so it has to be correct, right? They are also commonly called frost plugs, freeze plugs, o...

Re: Dash Removal

Try googling 2012 Goldwing air filter replacement videos or instructions, the dash is the first thing you need to remove in the process to remove the air filter, all wings from 2012 to 2017 are essentially the same, the air bag ones get a bit more involved from what I understand.

Re: Trunk Rattle

The hinges rattle from side to side. The pins that hold the hinges have play in them and the hinge jump up and down and well as side to side. If I could take the hinges off easily I would try to take them off to test. What a horrible design to allow so much wiggle and jiggle. I am currently looking...

I had both of my low beams die at the same time, twice, now running LEDs in the low beams, will change to LEDs in the high beams if they go out.

I would hesitant to go with missing that bolt, if were my bike.

Is there a possibility of installing a helicoil or Timesert? http://www.timesert.com/ to restore the threads?
