Re: Talk about feeling like an idiot!!

My doh moment came when I pulled in to the driveway with 15 of my riding buddies there. Got the beast stopped hopped off and headed to the group, I heard the bars hit under the bags and motor then the realization that I didn't bother with the side stand set in. There I am 2 steps away staring at my ...

Re: RIDING IN THE RAIN.

Depending on the temperature and if it's hiway or city dictates what I use. Summers on the hiway all I use are may gaiters that cover my toes up to my knee and my 3/4 helmet. City riding with a lot of stop and go for summer it's Frog Togs because they are light and breathe for winter my Harley rain ...

Re: Radio question

It will work. When I got my 89 years ago one side of the radio was out. We tested the factory wiring with the radio out of my friends 97 and it worked. We used an am/fm temporarily while I searched for a replacement cassette radio and it worked fine too. I'm searching for one out of a 97 to 2000 to ...

Re: Show Chrome vs Add On

Chinese chrome will eventually pit, tarnish, flake and bubble off if overlooked period. When I traded up to my 92 it had the market cornered on after market chrome add on's. A lot of it going down hill. It took a lot of time but I saved a lot of it. What I couldn't was either tossed or painted Mercu...

Re: Engine Ice Coolant

Hmmmm never had a cooling issue with any of mine for me to look for anything other than antifreeze and water. My 89 ran a quarter on the gage and in standstill traffic it would range closer but never to half. Fans would kick on like they're supposed to. My 92 is the same way maybe runs a tick warmer...

Re: I'm torn....stay with the 1500 or move on to the 1800

I'm contemplating the same thing. I'll have to get an upholstery shop to remove 2 inches of pad from the seat so I can move back in the saddle. I'd like a later model 18 because of the extended saddle bags. I don't mind giving up a little bit of storage space over my 15. I did get a chance to ride a...

Try Cyclemax.com, their prices are really good and they ship worldwide. I don't know what shipping and tarriffs will be to the UK but worth checking out.... A set of 8 grommets for $8... Numerous different grommet sets listed on the site. Capture.JPG Exactly and they're not from the aftermarket. I ...

Re: Rear brake dragging

Another likely possibility (which doesn't require ANY parts) is that the grease on the slider pins that hold the caliper in place (and let it slide from side to side as required) is dried up, or there's not enough of it. When this happens, the caliper stays over to one side, rather than self-center...

Re: motorcycle covers

Got a nice one from Cycle Gear but it's been a few years ago. Covers the bike well does a good job of shedding water and when tied as instructed kept the flapping in the wind to a minimum. I have another cover that stays in the trunk for short trips and pop up inclement weather that works good too. ...

Re: My Take on Shifter Brace

The 92 I traded for had one and a seal in the trunk. I wouldn't have paid $125 for one. Half of the asking price I would be fine with just to not have to mess with fabbing one. Still imho a must have on a 1500.

Re: Sena CB adaptor for Goldwing

the issue is your looking at nearly $1000 if you want both you and the passenger to be wireless. I fitted one to my goldwing and it worked perfectly with everything (CB included) but my passenger stayed wired (she has her own bike and doesn't ride on the back of me very often) you need both an inte...

I'd love to but it would cost me upwards of $500 for rider and passenger so
I'll wait and see if the prices drop or I find a great deal on a couple used.

Re: rear tire imbalance

I balance mine first then add beads to maintain the balance. I'd pull the tire break it down to remove the beads and start over. I've been off a couple of inches with the reference mark in the past but the tire still balanced out, but if you have it down that far might as well get it right. Does the...

I thought the same thing coming from a H-D with a heel/Toe and boards or my other one with foreward controls. It takes a little getting used to kicking that toe way out there to get it under that little peg. It gets easier in time though.

Re: What brand of AGM battery is best?

I've been using the cheaper AGM offering from batteries plus. Got 5 years out of my first one. Only had a battery tender on it for 2 of those 5. For $103 out the door with the online purchase discount it's hard to beat, then head to the store and pick it up. They put it on a charge before emailing t...

You sure it wasn't CB radio muting the AM/FM? When something breaks squelch radio goes mute, sound replaced by CB. Your good with body parts from 88 to 2000. The changes they made were pretty much mechanical over the years, changing suspension geometry, different carb jetting to name a couple. I had an 89 and used body parts up and down the years with no problems.

Pretty sure they're a steel nut. I did learn the hard way don't ask me how that it don't take much to break studs off in them. I do know mother Honda is proud of their hardware though. 2 handle bar control screws a header stud and nut were $13.50
