Re: Grommets GL1500 UK

Try Cyclemax.com, their prices are really good and they ship worldwide. I don't know what shipping and tarriffs will be to the UK but worth checking out.... A set of 8 grommets for $8... Numerous different grommet sets listed on the site. Capture.JPG Exactly and they're not from the aftermarket. I ...

Re: Rear brake dragging

Another likely possibility (which doesn't require ANY parts) is that the grease on the slider pins that hold the caliper in place (and let it slide from side to side as required) is dried up, or there's not enough of it. When this happens, the caliper stays over to one side, rather than self-center...

Re: motorcycle covers

Got a nice one from Cycle Gear but it's been a few years ago. Covers the bike well does a good job of shedding water and when tied as instructed kept the flapping in the wind to a minimum. I have another cover that stays in the trunk for short trips and pop up inclement weather that works good too. ...

Re: My Take on Shifter Brace

The 92 I traded for had one and a seal in the trunk. I wouldn't have paid $125 for one. Half of the asking price I would be fine with just to not have to mess with fabbing one. Still imho a must have on a 1500.

Re: Sena CB adaptor for Goldwing

the issue is your looking at nearly $1000 if you want both you and the passenger to be wireless. I fitted one to my goldwing and it worked perfectly with everything (CB included) but my passenger stayed wired (she has her own bike and doesn't ride on the back of me very often) you need both an inte...

Re: Sena CB adaptor for Goldwing

I'd love to but it would cost me upwards of $500 for rider and passenger so
I'll wait and see if the prices drop or I find a great deal on a couple used.

Re: rear tire imbalance

I balance mine first then add beads to maintain the balance. I'd pull the tire break it down to remove the beads and start over. I've been off a couple of inches with the reference mark in the past but the tire still balanced out, but if you have it down that far might as well get it right. Does the...

I thought the same thing coming from a H-D with a heel/Toe and boards or my other one with foreward controls. It takes a little getting used to kicking that toe way out there to get it under that little peg. It gets easier in time though.

Re: What brand of AGM battery is best?

I've been using the cheaper AGM offering from batteries plus. Got 5 years out of my first one. Only had a battery tender on it for 2 of those 5. For $103 out the door with the online purchase discount it's hard to beat, then head to the store and pick it up. They put it on a charge before emailing t...

Something else to consider

Had an interesting issue crop up when we rode the motorcycle awareness ride to kick off motorcycle awareness month here. I've been slowly going through everything on the new to me 92 to make sure it is road worthy and a few other issues. Well the morning of the run we were loading the bike to get th...

Re: Questions regarding "older" men and Goldwings

LOL Harley has all of the dealership shirts to collect and I was kind of missing that till I found a site that a now friend started 7 or 8 years back. somsofarthritis.com I think I have almost every shirt he made plus other goodies. Funny stuff geared toward the older rider. I've been riding for 41 ...

Re: Three challenges

You sure it wasn't CB radio muting the AM/FM? When something breaks squelch radio goes mute, sound replaced by CB. My stereo was cutting in/out, thought it was that stubborn mute button again, looked down and saw the CB turned on but volume down! Problem solved. Positive, does it with the C.B. on o...

Re: Three challenges

Well after reading this post I fixed my brake light problem and ordered a switch. Got the 4 way flashers working that switch was real dirty, and maybe the radio mute issue. While I was spraying CRC everywhere I attacked the mute switch. It always felt funny to me. I sprayed and worked it for almost ...

I'd bought a complete grommet kit from cyclemax. They were all in factory bags work perfect and just as cheap as the ill fitting aftermarket ones. I've got one of those switches coming. Noticed last week that I had no brake light with the hand control. I did get it cleaned up and working good but no...

Re: Upper fairing 88 Honda goldwing 1500

Your good with body parts from 88 to 2000. The changes they made were pretty much mechanical over the years, changing suspension geometry, different carb jetting to name a couple. I had an 89 and used body parts up and down the years with no problems.

Pretty sure they're a steel nut. I did learn the hard way don't ask me how that it don't take much to break studs off in them. I do know mother Honda is proud of their hardware though. 2 handle bar control screws a header stud and nut were $13.50

I've been riding since junior high.KE 125 with 100 badging. Went through a couple of street bikes RD 350 Kaw 400 triple and then the summer before high school a KZ 650 SR that crossover pipe was so sick. Rode a KZ 900 through college then stopped riding for a couple of years the first wife was afrai...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

Absolutely right the carbs are not hard. Stripping Tupperware is time consuming though. I had to pull the ones off of the 89 I had 3 times within a 2 week span. I was real fast and efficient the last time and the job went quick. Same with the back tire after a couple you realize there are a couple o...

Avoid Sumo brake pads For GL's

I learned a little lesson last week. The 1500 needed brakes and instead of buying what I usually do either factory or EBC I went a different route. A friend of mine who rides a 1400 Connie has been using Sumo pads for a while now and loves them. This guy rides more than anyone I know multi state wee...

That light on cyclemax replaces the reflector between the bags I'm not sure it will work in the bag locations. I'd look real close before ordering.

I have to ask. Are the tail lights your looking for in the bags or are you looking to eliminate the center reflector and add the tail light? The cyclemax link is for the center tail light.

Re: GL1500 Auxiliary Shifter Pivot

My 92 was a pita. When I finally did get the jack shaft out of the frame I knocked it down enough to have plenty of wiggle room. I've done a dozen seals and mine wasn't having it I do think my bike hates me. I caused another problem going back together but that's another story lol. I did have to re ...

Re: What model is this ?

Ya pretty much. SE's had tu-tone paint, passenger adjustable floor boards, an extra set of cable operated vents in the lowers to direct air over your feet, spoiler with brake light, chrome rotor covers, and a few other minor tweaks through the years. Aspencade had all of the goodies minus the SE tou...
