Re: 97 1500 99 valk compatible ??

Not real sure without doing a side by side, but off of the top of my head I'd say no two different animals.

Re: Gas smell

Look at the gas cap and you can soak it in seafoam to clean it up. If it still smells then look at that contraption to the right and forward of the gas cap. People call it a petcock. It's a fuel shutoff that will leak. My 89 leaked and I didn't see any evidence right away but could smell the fuel. T...

Re: Memphis Shade Windshield

I've had a couple. The first one I got with their vent was awesome and the vent had alot of adjustability. Perfect fit and worked like the factory one with the adjusters. I bone headed that one when the garage door came down on it while backing out and had to get another. The second one was slightly...

Re: Commander III tires

It looks like there is a set of Dunlop E-4's for the GL1500. https://wingstuff.com/products/37491-dunlop-elite-4-tire-combo-for-gl1500 There is this thread going where I've tried to keep an update on my E-4's going. https://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=37290 Unless you've got stock in...

Re: Commander III tires

It is a little foggy on commander tires I was lookin at those too. They used to be rated for goldwings then not even though I'm not sure they changed anything. Some people do run them and like them. I prefered Avon Venoms but then they quit makin those too. Now I'm running Avon Cobras and they feel...

Re: Commander III tires

Only thing comes to mind as far as cupping would be tire pressure. I had the issue with two different brands until a guy I know who worked for Muzzy Kawasaki told me to air'em up. Haven't had a cupping problem since. From what I can tell though the commander series of tire was designed for H-D and I...

Re: Commander III tires

Been curious myself. I haven't checked on the sizes offered or the load rating on them for that matter. I used to run Pilot GT's some people didn't like them but they were great for me unfortunately Michelin discontinued them. Been running dunflops since, E-3's and now E-4's. I have had good luck wi...

Re: What's the strangest thing you've hit?

Caught a roadrunner at about 80 on my barhopper sporty I finished building some years back. I saw'em chasing something on the side of the road and thought surely not and then the crazy bird saw me and tried to fly. Caught me in the left shoulder and almost took me off of that little seat. Took an ow...

You know how long it's been sitting? Might get away with minimal parts if they're not lacquered up bad when you get them apart.

Re: Fader for an Aspencade

Connecting the front speakers to the back is not really a great idea. If you connect them in series, the impedance will be doubled, so the power output from each will be about half - it will be very quiet. Connecting them in parallel, the impedance will be halved, and the amplifier will be pushed i...

Re: Fader for an Aspencade

Faders don't suck power that I ever experienced, they just redirect the portion you choose to the location you choose. If you wire in two more with what you have, no fader, no control. You will note a drop up front, but then there will be sound in the other pair behind you. Welp when I installed th...

Fader for an Aspencade

Is there a better fader out there than the one from Add-On? I just trashed the second one. The board broke off where the 2 black wires went. I was going to tie the rear speakers into the front and let it go but got hot out there and I stopped for the day. Faders suck so much power from the output an...

Re: Goldwing tires

I ran that American Elite on the front of my 89. I messed up my order and got the E-3 for the back and the A.E. for the front. Didn't notice any difference in handling over an E-3 and looked close enough to the same as the back which you couldn't really see anyway. The 92 I traded for has a new Shin...

Re: Headset cords

Thanks y'all I hit Cyclemax first yesterday my go to. Then J&M their business is strong huge vendor presence at the rallies but discontinued that model cord. Sierra has no listing either on line that is. I'm calling all three tomorrow to see. I got a link for one vendor that still has them for $25 a...

Re: Wanted J&M HC_JJ Cords

Thanks for the link Kw I ordered a couple of sets lol. My cords work fine Blue but the coil in the cords weathered and fell apart and I'm left with a flopping mess. I guess I could get some straight cord and make what I need with the connectors I have. Fortunately I was taught to solder correctly an...

Wanted J&M HC_JJ Cords

Apparently after an exhaustive search J&M has discontinued production of the one piece cord HC_JJ. I found one on fleabay but need 2. I'm not ready to throw a ton of cash for rider/passenger freewire setup's just yet. Our headsets work perfectly fine but those cords don't last long. If there's any o...

Re: request headlight GL1500

Try here, https://cyclemax.com/ they used to have the late model headlight assembly but it wasn't cheap. I don't know of any GL 1500 headlight being glass. My 89 was plastic as were my 97 and 93 that I have now. Glass wouldn't be cost effective or an Ideal material to make a composite headlight from.

Re: Prepping for trip

I always manage to have my H-D rain gear handy and it will not let any wind in period. I use them with either a hoodie at above 30 degrees or a mid weight jacket under 30. The two best things I have for me anyway are my heated socks and gloves because those are my trouble areas to keep warm. When my...

Re: Survived deer hit at 55 mph

A deer took a friend of mine off of his Kaw. 1400 Connie. Broke 3 ribs, collar bone and a bit of rash. The incident most likely saved his life though. They found that he needed two stents that were taken care of along with the other injuries. Although the deer didn't do him or the bike any favors at...

Re: Motorcycle parking at work and dog food.

We don't have designated bike parking. It's usually not an issue because there's plenty of parking for everyone. I've only had my truck for a couple of years, but before that I had to pack everything on my 89. I came out of the grocery store with a cart full prolly 10 bags and 2 cases of water. Drew...

Re: Talk about feeling like an idiot!!

My doh moment came when I pulled in to the driveway with 15 of my riding buddies there. Got the beast stopped hopped off and headed to the group, I heard the bars hit under the bags and motor then the realization that I didn't bother with the side stand set in. There I am 2 steps away staring at my ...

Re: RIDING IN THE RAIN.

Depending on the temperature and if it's hiway or city dictates what I use. Summers on the hiway all I use are may gaiters that cover my toes up to my knee and my 3/4 helmet. City riding with a lot of stop and go for summer it's Frog Togs because they are light and breathe for winter my Harley rain ...

Re: Radio question

It will work. When I got my 89 years ago one side of the radio was out. We tested the factory wiring with the radio out of my friends 97 and it worked. We used an am/fm temporarily while I searched for a replacement cassette radio and it worked fine too. I'm searching for one out of a 97 to 2000 to ...
