Re: Key for vetter

Okay........I don't think I'm giving up any "secrets" here, but I bought 2 early 80's Goldwing trunks at a garage sale and used them for "trunks" on my lawn tractors. ANYWAY......to get into the locks, put one of the keys you have into it, then lightly turn it while tapping the back of the key with ...

Re: GL1100 in my garage

Congratulations Bill. Looking forward to your updates on the rebuild/upgrades stories. I've used Parzilla, Old Bike Barn, Partsnmore, Cyclemax, and many use Randakks for carb parts. If you are looking for a rebuild on the carbs and want them done, I used Pistol Pete's Carbs. When I got them back, I ...

Re: Ever thought about why older wings are for sale

HammHammer........wish I was close enough to you to throw in a hand to help. I just rebuilt my '83 Aspencade, and have been through just about everything except the engine. Mine has 47,877 on it today.........will be a few more tomorrow. (Supposed to be nice weather). It was pretty great tearing int...

Re: New GL1100 owner

NICE..!! I just got my '83 Aspy all done this Sept. Now I get to spend winter days in the garage shining it up, and staring at it in between OTHER projects. There are so many "options" for upgrades nowadays, you just get to sit back, make a "list" of what you want to do to them, and make a plan of a...

Re: Not a Good Day at the Gas Station (need a part)

Just checked Ebay and a Salvage Co. in California............uhh.......go with WingAdmin's advice on the new side cover and have it painted.
WOW..!! They want a lot for those babies..! Cheaper to buy blank and paint it. IMO.

Re: Spin-on Oil Filter for GL1100

Thank you for your input. It's good to get a view of others experiences/opinions. Just for the heck of it, I searched for "Best Oil Filters". Mobil 1 came up first. Not sure how "reliable" the searches are these days, being that most companies can BUY their reviews now. Mobil 1 products are good tho...

Re: Hip cramp

It really does work. Since I've taken a dose just about every day that I do any hard work, I've never had any cramps or charlie horses. Also.......after a heck of a day of lifting, shoveling fertilizer in the garden, and going up-n-down ladders while painting and oiling the house.......the next day ...

Re: Hip cramp

Honestly.........you need to increase your intake of Magnesium. I use a powdered product called Cal-Mag. Calcium-Magnesium you just mix with water. You have to start out slow, and work into higher doses, but your muscles are in dire need of Magnesium. Try it. It works. Don't try too much at first th...

Just to make you laugh

Okay.........I had a brain "hydrolock" today. SOOOO......I went on a ride today, and wanted to see what the forecast was about half-way through. Turned on the radio.....NOTHING. Re: Spin-on Oil Filter for GL1100

You might just be right. The Murray's adapter, if put on at the right ft-lbs, would seem to be a viable, and hopefully RELIABLE, option. On Murray's Carbs website, here are the listed filters that are compatible with the adapter. AC Delco PF2232 Baldwin BF1441 Fram PH 9100 Luberfiner LFP 2999 STP S9...

Re: 1500 vs 1800

I was thinking of moving from the 1500 until I got the opportunity to borrow a friends 1800 for a weekend. My Aspencade is now twenty one years old (wow), but the ride on mine, for me, was a lot better than his three year old one. I liked all the gizmos on the newer bike, but I spend a lot of time ...

Re: Spin-on Oil Filter for GL1100

Went on a 60 mi. ride today. Stopped once to check the oil filter for any leaks. None. I was sure I tightened up to the right spec the first time, but ????? I do like the Randakk's adapter, but the one from Murray's Carbs looks to be the same deal, just letting the filter butt-up against the block i...

Re: Action Cameras

I purchased a Pilot brand dash cam. I can use in my truck as well as on my bike. I mounted mine with the suction-cup mount in the inside of the windshield. I don't know if you have any room under your vent (if the bike in your profile pic is the same bike you're inquiring about), but the suction cup...

I have a single carb set up for GL1100's. Includes EMPI 34 PICT 3 carb, 2 gaskets, mini air cleaner, and the manifold. $150 + shipping.
