Re: What is the best Table lift for Goldwing/Gl1100 prefer pneumatic

I went "budget buy" and got the HF lift. I absolutely love it. I have considered converting over to air hydraulic. I did that with their 20-ton shop press. That was the best mod I could have ever done. As you mentioned, there are lots of videos of air-hydraulic conversions on YT, and they don't seem...

Re: Fuel Evaporation???

Just "woke up" Ginger ('83 Aspy) last week. Her tank was almost as full as when I put her away in November. Only about a 1/4" down the neck from the top I filled it up to.

Re: Thank You WingAdmin - Winterization SUCCESSFUL

Oh yes......absolutely go through the "whole checklist". Tires, lights, signals, fluid levels.......the whole list. Doesn't take long and "just in case" you find something to address......better to take care of it THEN instead of 10 mi. down the road.

Re: Timing belt replacement

Go to the "How To Articles" section of this site. There is a few articles there on belt replacement. They are great. I just did mine last summer, and I can tell you THIS.....although it states that you have to keep the timing pulleys from moving.......you WILL have to turn one of them anywhere from ...

Re: progressive springs and air

I've read in several threads that air is not a requirement when running progressive springs in the forks. I've just rebuilt my shocks with the progressive springs and seals. with the new progressive springs in the shocks is air recommended. I did notice that the new springs were about 1/2" shorter ...

Thank You WingAdmin - Winterization SUCCESSFUL

Dear WingAdmin (Sir Scott..hahaha), Thank you for your article on winterizing your Wing. I have an '83 Aspencade and followed your guidelines to the letter. I just pulled "Ginger" out of the garage yesterday........and after a few extra cranks, she fired right up.!! Took her for a 60 mi. ride and th...

Re: Is the Goldwing the best bike you have ever ridden?

I have had many bikes and overall my '84 stripper with a Hondaline fairing is the best. Not as smooth as my 89 1500, but much easier to manuever and almost as comfortable. It just "fits" me. BEAUTIFUL bike. As you can see by my profile, I've a had a few bikes. And YES......the Goldwing is the best ...

Forget about all the tip-toe stuff.........get a Can-Am Spyder..!! My friend's wife LOVES to ride, but she's got a bum knee. She rode her Harley 883 for a while, but just kept having trouble with the knee. Along comes a neighbor (with a Spyder).......she tries it.......and GUESS WHAT...?? hahahaha N...

Re: Ethanol! Yes or No?

I have a '78 GL1000 with very high mileage. I take very good care of this motorcycle, and when I put it into hibernation at the beginning of this totally useless winter, it had been running nearly as well as it ever had. I have always used regular (87 octane) fuel, and never paid any attention to w...

I have an '83 Aspencade.........and I rebuilt just about everything. YES.....Progressive springs in the front are great..!! No air needed. And as mentioned by another member.......it's a good idea to replace the back ones also. I put Progressives there also. RIDES LIKE A DREAM. Again....no air. Took...

Re: Pre Carb Rebuild Questions

When all is said and done, you might just end up spending a lot more trying to do it yourself. I have an '83 Aspencade, and my carbs were TRASHED when I bought it. I finally.....FINALLY....bit the bullet and sent the carbs to Pistol Pete. BEST DECISION I ever made. I put them back on......hooked eve...

Ever got rid of a bike you wish you hadn't...........YEAH......ALL OF 'EM..!! hahah My first "street bike" was an '81 Suzuki GS750L. No bike I have ever heard since has had that "cool" of a sound. Seat was a little hard, but that would have been fixable. My '91 Suzuki 1100 Katana was AWESOME. Fast (...

Re: Ethanol! Yes or No?

I run fuel with corn simply because it is less expensive and I don't see any difference between the with or without varieties. Can't feel any loss of power nor do I get any noticeable difference in fuel mileage. I do use Stabil in winter however. I have an '83 Aspencade, and I don't notice any POWE...

quasi2008.......I actually HAVE a lower spoiler/light setup, but the chrome is totally trashed. I was thinking of getting it sandblasted and re-chromed, but the cost is so outrageous here in Montana, that I would have to send it off....SOMEWHERE. Also, the light frames are cracked and non-usable. I'...

Re: GL1100 in my garage

Hate to push the Chinese stuff.......but the Harbor Freight 1000 lb Motorcycle Lift is pretty awesome. Lifts my '83 GL1100 right up. I usually put it on backward, with the rear tire in the chock. Easier to get it off of the lift after whatever work is done. I have a HF 2000 lb winch attached to the ...

Okay........I don't think I'm giving up any "secrets" here, but I bought 2 early 80's Goldwing trunks at a garage sale and used them for "trunks" on my lawn tractors. ANYWAY......to get into the locks, put one of the keys you have into it, then lightly turn it while tapping the back of the key with ...

Congratulations Bill. Looking forward to your updates on the rebuild/upgrades stories. I've used Parzilla, Old Bike Barn, Partsnmore, Cyclemax, and many use Randakks for carb parts. If you are looking for a rebuild on the carbs and want them done, I used Pistol Pete's Carbs. When I got them back, I ...

NICE..!! I just got my '83 Aspy all done this Sept. Now I get to spend winter days in the garage shining it up, and staring at it in between OTHER projects. There are so many "options" for upgrades nowadays, you just get to sit back, make a "list" of what you want to do to them, and make a plan of a...
