Does anyone know where I can get the special tool to remove the swingarm nuts? The manual shows a specialty tool for the left side.
Did either of the suggestions work?

Re: How much do you and your wife weigh?

I'll take the bait. I like life on the edge. My wife was open about her weight when we first got married. But, the last 40 out of 44 years not so much. So I resorted to simple math when the opportunity arose. When we bought an Isuzu NPR for our business I took it to the scales at a near by quarry. ...

Re: RIDING IN THE RAIN.

Several years ago my wife and I rode from Hilbert, WI to Superior, about 350 mile. I had a Yamaha XS750 at the time. We drove back in the rain. I decided to take the back roads and avoid the highway. Things got real interesting around Kaukauna, near Appleton, When a dump truck overloaded with cabbag...

Re: Pop pop pop

Your post reminded me of a trip to Superior, Wisconsin years ago. Shortly after getting on a stretch of new concrete four lane highway all sorts of racket came from under the bike. I pulled over and put the center stand down on my Yamaha XS750. I ran through the gears at idle and could not hear a pr...

Re: who rides at night?

Eboness, your tip reminds me of a story a friend told me. He was a marine stationed in Okinawa in the 50's. While hauling ammo he had to go through several unlit tunnels. He said that he prepared for this by closing his eyes briefly before entering the tunnel and then opening them once inside. On on...

Re: Top Tier Gas Stations

My 88' GL1500 does not like 87 octane. After the second fill up it started knocking. I downloaded the owner's manual and it indicates 91 octane. It took two more fill ups to get rid of the knock. The Shell down the street does not put ethanol in the 91 octane but the extra cost is appreciable. BP ha...

Re: who rides at night?

Last fall I saw more deer on one 50 mile ride than I ever remember seeing. I started back home around dusk. The first pair crossed 50 yards in front of me. But, as it got darker they seemed to cross closer & closer. Highway 23 between Montello and Fond du Lac, Wisconsin was under construction so th...

Re: charging new battery with car charger

Most cycle batteries should not be charged over 3 amps. If you have a digital voltmeter use it to make sure you are charging at the proper voltage. Don't exceed 14.5 volts dc. With your charger at 2 amps a low battery should draw 2 amps when first hooked up and less as it charges. Three hours should...

Re: What is your mileage on your goldwing?

I picked up my 88' gl1500 the end of last July. It had 143k, I added 2500 more. It hasn't been above freezing for weeks. I need to change timing belts and balance the carbs. I can't wait to ride!

Re: Adding an Aux input to the GL1500 radio

Very helpful and well explained article. This reminds me of the system I rigged for my 78 Yamaha. Since it didn't have a radio I took an old transistor radio and wired a set of pillow speakers and microphones into the audio circuit. I don't know if bikes had intercoms back then but ours did. Since I...

Re: What does every one do for a living?

My first vocation has helped me through several job and career changes. I was a field radio repairman (31E2P) from 1967 to 1970. I studied electronics after the service and spent 20 years as an electronic technician and maintenance supervisor in plastic manufacturing. I switched to property manageme...
