Re: Gas tank full, 1/2 full, or 1/4 full
You’ll get many responses and they’ll all be good one and what works for the responder. I will usually put half a can of Seafoam in the tank, ride it around a bit to mix it up and get it into the carbs, then fill it right to the top. I always felt, at least here in the Northeast a full tank was bett...

Absolutely not! Always had sort of a kinship with Hank.

Re: Senior Moment and ABS Solvent Cement
I had kind of the same happen to me. I changed the oil, and drove off to fuel up and heard what sounded like something fly off. I thought it might be one of the covers I popped off to change the filter. I stopped and checked and it was still in place. Got home and found the left fender cover had com...

Re: What does every one do for a living?
Funny, just when I thought I had read pretty much every post here since 2014, lo and behold I find this. I rode as a teenager in the ‘70’s until a buddy was almost killed on a bike, picked it up again in 2014. I’ve been working at one job or another since I was 12. Mowing lawns for neighbors, caddy,...

Re: Blackwing fork brace install
Another follow up. I firmly believe that if one posts here in the forum asking questions on how to repair or how to do something on their bike, then they should post their results, so whomever gave them advise can know if it worked. So here are my results on my blackwing install. The install was sup...

Re: Blackwing fork brace install
Well, its installed. Took all of about 20 minutes, and probably half of that was Looking for the right size Allen wrenches. Took it out of the freezer and it dropped right in with no tapping in place. Pretty easy installation. Didn’t have to loosen the pinch bolts which I was glad not to have to do....

Blackwing fork brace install
I felt a new thread might be better in regards to the blackwing fork brace. I received mine today and am planning to install it this weekend. I watched the video on YouTube on the install process, and it looks easy enough to install. I was however surprised that the instructions said to loosen the p...

Wind screen
One of my winter projects I plan on doing to my 1500 is to replace the wind screen. I replaced the one on my old 1200 with an aftermarket slipstream and I was never really happy with the fit, I just tolerated it. My current wind screen I assume is original, 29 years and counting, and is yellowing an...

Re: Questions regarding "older" men and Goldwings
It’s funny, my wife and I were just discussing the other day about how long I would be able to ride. I’m 63 now, soon to be 64. Bought my first Wing, a ‘86 1200 back in 2014, after many years and many Springtimes of asking my wife to let me buy a bike. Her response was always “no, you’ll kill yourse...

Re: Electrical ground problem....AGAIN!!
My thoughts are you are getting power back to ground causing it to burn. That’s why I thought there may be a bare wire causing it. Any ground wire should not get hot.

Re: Electrical ground problem....AGAIN!!
I’m no electrical expert, so not sure if I am correct but....when I troubleshoot electrical problems on heating equipment a burned wire is usually a bare wire touching metal somewhere. I may be off as far as the DC system on a motorcycle but I think it’s worth a shot to see.

Re: Video: How to get a Goldwing on and off the center stand
It’s funny how an older post can still be relevant. I’m new to the 1500, I bought it in June to replace my 1200 with a bad stator. I watched the videos when I got my 1200, and for the life of me I just could not get that bike up on the center stand no matter how hard I tried. I finally gave up and u...

Yup, that’s the one I saw for 70 bucks. Just wanted to know about the quality of it. As I said I don’t mind spending the extra money, I just want a quality product.

Shifter brace
After reading all the posts about installing a shifter brace, I have decided to install one on my ‘91 Interstate. It has only 7300 miles, so I think I could probably wait until next riding season as this one is winding down here in the great northeast. My questions are these: Are they all the same? ...

Passenger floorboards for 1500
With the “new” bike came passenger pegs. The Precious Cargo would like boards like I installed on my 1200. She says they are much more comfortable. I have been on eBay and have seen several...which adds to my confusion. The general configuration is the same on all, however some have what looks to be...

Re: input kenwood radio 1500 interstate 1991
I know this post is two years old now but, I just bought a ‘91 with the same radio and I hate it. Bluthunder31, do you happen to have the model number of the radio you put in? I think I would like to try it and really enjoy some music rather than music and ads.

Re: MICE ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY
I work in the propane industry. We service all kinds of LP equipment including pool heaters. Mice love the comfy confines of pool heaters and I have seen nests that will fill a paper grocery bag. The little critters feast on the wiring and insulation. Not to mention all the little buggers pee and po...

Re: A 1500 upgrade
So I originally posted this almost a month ago. Since I took possession of the bike I sent it out the the shop and had the carbs completely rebuilt, had the timing belts changed, I would have normally done them myself but I figured my mechanic would have the plastic off to do the carbs that it would...

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing
Always wanted a Goldwing when they first came out back in ‘75. Loved the styling and the power. I first got my motorcycle license back in 1974 when my best friend bought a Honda 250 dirt/street legal bike. Never pulled the trigger to buy a bike back then. Then my buddy was almost killed riding his b...

Cross reference part numbers
I seem to remember when I bought my 1200 back in 2014 that I saw on this site somewhere all the cross reference numbers for auto parts that would fit on my 1200. It came in super handy when I did my timing belts and replaced the thermostat and radiator hoses. I remember there were a bunch of numbers...

Re: A 1500 upgrade
Thanks all. The bike is in the shop now having the carbs gone through by the current owner. I’m already looking at tires and those will be replaced very quickly. Hopefully, I’ll have it by July 7 or 8. Looking forward to it.

A 1500 upgrade
Good morning folks, My ‘86 Interstate finally pooped the bed, (stator) so instead of trying to fix it and miss a good portion of the riding season I have decided to upgrade to a 1500. The one I have a deposit on is a ‘91 SE that looks like it is right off the showroom floor. Original owner, always i...

Re: Any advise needed
So here’s what I’ve done so far. I fully charged the battery. It started right up. Took readings across the posts and was reading 12.4 volts dc with no improvement boosting it up to 3000 rpm and higher. A steady 12.4 I noticed the connections from the stator were corroded so I cut out the plug and t...
