Re: Austone Taxi Tire
I've put 2500 miles on my Maxxis Blackwall now. Very smooth, no issues, can't really tell any difference between it and the Elite 4 it replaced. Time for a new front tire, tho. Only got 7K out of my Avon Cobra Chrome, whereas Elite 4 (front) had given me 11K. Does anyone have a solid favorite for GL...

Windshield Vent Ball Bearing
That darn ball bearing that is spring-loaded into the detents on my windshield vent is definitely the weak link in that vent design. Without it the baffle just flaps in the wind. Ball bearings...$0.17. Vent....$25. Hassle....priceless. Has anyone come up with a fix to keep that ball bearing from jum...

Maxxis Blackwall
My GL1500 rear wheel with the Maxxis Blackwell touches the ground when on the center stand, cannot be rotated e.g. to find the valve stem. Did 200 miles today. Can't say I notice much difference between the Maxwell and my Elite 4 other than it just feels a little 'different'. No better, no worse, an...

175R16 Maxxis Blackwall
Regarding 'new kid on the block', the 175R16 Maxxis Blackwall from Universal Vintage Tire Company. Initial impressions: 1. Couldn't find anyone interested in swapping out the rubber, so I spooned them on myself. 40psi was not enough to seat the bead so went well beyond that recommended max but yes, ...

Re: Dash-mount plate
That would do it, if it were designed for mounting farkles. Appears in the photo to be simply a sunshade. I'd seen similar installations but with the metal installed on TOP of the cluster. Thanks for taking the time to help, bluthundr31.

Dash-mount plate
I'm considering changing up my GPS/radar detector mounts, and am trying to track down what I believe was in Wing World, a plate that mounts on top of the instrument cowling...not the vent, not the bars, but mounts onto the cowling and forms a flat platform for farkles...and not the FireCreek farkle ...

Tons of info/opinions on this previously posted. If you read the Texas Toast Battery Cook-off https://web.archive.org/web/20150613101 ... cID=176271
you'll buy a Motobatt.

Re: Relays: What they are, how they work, how to replace them (Video)
Scott makes a strong case for using these improved relays. My question is this: If my bike is disabled on a long ride by virtue of a faulty (original) relay, might it have been good insurance to have replaced NOW all eight relays, keeping 1-2 of the old ones for backup? Certainly more than $104-wort...

Re: Darkside: No Taxi Tire...now what?
Goldwingrev, the owners manual for my '99 1500 calls for 160/80-16 75H, and the only dark side rear I'm seeing forum support for outside of the nolongeravailable Austone is the Yokohama Avid Envigor ZPS 195/55 R16 run-flat run at 46psi. Unless better info comes in here I'll be going with that in abo...

Darkside: No Taxi Tire...now what?
I've been following the darkside discussions and see that the forum-favorite Austone Taxi Tire is no longer available. Is there a consensus on the new darkside favorite? Consensus....yeah, right.

Re: Handlebar cable routing/ 2000 GL1500
Thanks newday77. Small clip ends up being the one that retains the speedometer cable on the left strut down near the rotor cover. The larger one ends up clipping over the ignition key stock to retain some of the wires up there. Thanks for your reply.

E4ACD7D0-67F6-4C41-9205-3A88596B2CE0.jpeg I have these two brackets remaining as I finish up replacing steering head bearings. Both for use in securing cables at handlebar. Smaller one likely for clutch cable but not clear how attached. Likewise with the larger one. Anyone have a pic to clarify? I ...

Re: How to replace your steering head bearings
Just finished my steering head bearings. Removal was made easier thru borrowing an ‘Axle Puller Set’ from Autozone, used again on installation in combination with their bearing/seal driver set. 10-lb slap hammer was much easier to control, especially in dealing with the lower bearing from below. Gre...

Pathfinder UBH04 Ultra Mini H4 DROP-IN REPLACEMENT
So much good info on this forum re: 2nd-gen Pathfinder LED headlights, but now they offer a drop-in replacement that has no driver, no wiring to box that needs to be crammed behind the headlight assembly. Very happy with my 2nd-gen install but does anyone have experience with their new 'driverless' ...

Re: SoCalMotoGear Pathfinder LED Headlights - 2nd Generation
Does anyone in the group have any experience yet with SoCal's Pathfinder UBH04, the new drop-in replacements that DON'T REQUIRE A DRIVER? I'm intending to use them in a non-Goldwing application but before I spend $80/pair and dump my PIAA Xtreme Whites I thought I'd throw it out to the group. I coul...

Re: SocalMotoGear Pathfinder LED Headlights

The original instructions ca...

Re: SocalMotoGear Pathfinder LED Headlights
Based on a crossover accident 10/17 I'm all-in on conspicuity and now have the Cyclemax GL1500 LED Headlight Bulb kit (think Pathfinder $ less 10% )on my new to me '99 Aspencade being modulated by the Kisan KI150GW-LED modulator, which I was assured by the folks at Cyclemax was the same as the Pathf...

Position light modulator vs wig-wag
Modulators are technically legal only on headlights. After a recent accident I’m considering adding a modulator to my position lights, down low on L and R. Does anyone have experience with this? Have you been stopped by the police? Has anyone tried wig-wag position lights, also technically not legal?

Re: How to install a headlight modulator

'97 GL1500, recently got Hazard Light switch operating after extensive spraying with contact cleaner and eventual teardown of switch into 3 springs, small C-shaped copper contacts, etc. Whew!
