Re: 2020 Starting mileage

Jan 1, 2019 mileage: 46702 Jan 1, 2020 mileage: 54999 Damn. I knew we were down last year because of some work and family things that came up, but only 8300 miles? And that was with a Grand Canyon trip (2500 miles) and a Montana trip (1500). That's really pitiful. Definitely got to do better this ye...

Re: Close topbox goldwing 2019

I had a similar problem with my 2012 a while back. Turned out that the wire loop on the trunk lid that holds the lid closed was loose. They call it a "trunk striker" in the parts diagrams, and it looks like it is the same thing for the 2018 . It wasn't loose enough to keep the trunk release from wor...

Re: 2020 Cleveland International Motorcycle Show Review

Thanks for posting the photos. The missing BMW booth is interesting. There used to be a BMW motorcycle dealer here in Boise, but they closed down last year and now the bikes are available at the BMW car dealer. Makes me wonder if they are planning on pulling out of the motorcycle market altogether o...

Re: Sena free wire and s20evo frustration.

I don't have a Freewire so I don't know if it was the same issue, but I do have an SM10 Dual BT transmitter so it might be similar. When I first got my 20S I was having problems getting my phone and the SM10 to both pair to my headset properly. The symptoms kind of sound like what some of you have b...

I wear a pair of Alpinestar Sierra gore-tex boots: https://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/closeouts/last_chance_bargains/alpinestars/sierra_gore_tex_xcr_boots.html These look similar to the Tourmaster Response boots that Solina Dave was asking about, but it looks like the Alpinestars version has been...

Re: Taillights won't turn off

Well I came out this morning and put the fuse back in for the trip home, and the lights did not come on. The did come on when I turned on the bike and everything seems to be working fine, so I guess the rely released during the night. I'm still going to replace it just to be on the safe side though....

Re: Taillights won't turn off

Here are the lights that are involved. Pulling the fuse labeled Stop Lights turns then off. When I get home I'll take the seat of and take a look at the relays and see what I can find.

Re: Taillights won't turn off

I pulled the stop light fuse to get them turned off, but these were the extra taillights that were on. I'll have to go put the fuse back in later and take another photo to show exactly which lights are involved. But I think you are right. I probably have a relay that is stuck.

Taillights won't turn off

We are on the last night of a ten day trip and as I'm getting the luggage out to check in to the hotel I notice that my taillights are on. At first I thought I had left the key turned on, but no, the key is in my pocket. What the heck? These are the Kuryakan after market lights on the trunk and sadd...

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

Looks like the winter road conditions didn't get picked up by anybody. Since we are now into some better riding conditions, should there be a new tag?

Re: Some riders...

I'm another one who will typically ride year-round as long as the roads are dry. Luckily here in the Boise area we typically don't get much snow even though it might get fairly cold at times. A couple years ago my wife and I took a trip to Deadwood, SD in June. We thought we would be fairly safe fro...

Re: Rivco Sidestand Pad

I've had one of these Rivco pads on my 'Wing for a couple years now. I guess we tend to go to a lot of areas where while the roads are paved most of the parking isn't. Having that wide pad on the sidestand has been great. However one side effect is that I tend to do more scraping in the curves than ...

Re: put away for winter

It was 28°F this morning, but the skys are still blue and the roads are dry so I took the 'Wing to work. I'll admit though that part of it is that right now I don't really have much of a choice. My step-son is using my car while he hunts for a replacement for his, so if I want to get to work I eithe...

Re: Bluetooth Communication Question

The squealing that you mention is caused by a positive audio feedback loop that happens when a speaker is placed too close to the microphone that feed it. Sound received by the microphone is amplified and fed to the speaker. The output of the speaker then feeds into the microphone, which amplifies i...

Re: JACO FlowPro Digital Tire Inflator Gauge Review

I had the Tire SafeGuard system on my bike. When I first ordered the system through Amazon it showed up with a cracked display. Dealing with his "customer support" was a pain, but I finally got a new system after several weeks. Then when I took the display off while I was washing the bike a while ba...

Re: WHO HAS EVER DUMPED THEIR WING?

A couple years ago I was practicing some low-speed tight turns. On one of the turns I got the handlebars a little tighter than I should have, neglected to give it enough throttle/clutch and down it went. The worst part about it was that this was during an "Experienced Rider" course, so I had the who...

Re: Wingstuff Half Cover Review

I've been using the UltraGuard half cover since I first read about it here for years ago. It's been a great cover, easy to get on and to take off and store. The elastic straps rotted away after one season, but my wife replaced them with some much more durable web straps. This will probably be the la...

Hey MountainRider - Hello from Boise. Wish I could get out there on the 1st, but my wife and I are headed out on the bike tomorrow for a trip to the San Juan Islands. We won't be back until the 8th. I grew up in Idaho Falls and I still have some friends there. Maybe we'll be able to get together for...

Sort of. It was the candy apple red. Not exactly her favorite, but she has never been particularly fond of having a black bike. Still wouldn't be worth that kind of money just to change the color. I could probably get a custom paint job for less.

Re: I have a wonderful wife

I'm going to have to let it go. I just can't see shelling out $13K for essentially the same bike that I already have, plus another $1k for the farkles. Yes it is newer and would possibly last longer than my current bike, but that $13k will pay for a lot of maintenance and repairs. I just don't think...

Re: I have a wonderful wife

At the moment it's not going to happen. They are offering me $9000 for my bike and they have discounted the 2017 to $21,200 + fees. So in other words it would be $13,000 out the door which is more than I want to drop at the moment. However my wife (did I mention how wonderful she is?) is still tryin...

I have a wonderful wife

Took my 2012 in to the dealer this morning to get the leaking front fork seals replaced (just not going to have the time to do it myself before we leave for our summer trip). While I was in there I noticed that they have a "new" 2017 on the floor next to the "newer" 2018s. I mentioned it to my wife ...

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

I thought the point of this whole thing was to encourage travel. Ok, it might be hard for somebody in England to travel to somewhere that would qualify (I'm not even sure what would be involved in getting a bike out of England), but WingAdmin - you don't have that excuse. It might take a while, but ...
