Re: LED Headlight dimmer

Yes, I have the beam angle on the bike set to the lowest that it will go. The lights are Damega 6 element grill lights: https://ledoutfitters.com/surface-mount-grille-led-lights/damega-element-6-surface-mount-grille-light/ I have the front-facing lights mounted on brackets under the mirrors. I would...

LED Headlight dimmer

Hello all. A few years ago I replaced the Halogen low-beam headlights on my 2012 Goldwing with Pathfinder LED headlights. At the time I found that they were extremely bright, to the point where it would be uncomfortable for drivers if I pulled up behind them at night. Well at least they were very no...

If Amazon won't respond, maybe it's something worth reporting to the CPSC. Maybe they can get this kind of crap pulled.

Re: Valve clearance check

I had originally tried to have mine checked at 35K, but the dealer told me not to bother until I hit 70K. I just had it checked last week at 75K. Everything was spot on. I talked to the mechanic who worked on my bike (seemed like a good guy with a lot of experience and knowledge) and he said that he...

Re: Anti-dive plunger bolts

Although you had problems removing yours, in general, Honda does an amazing job matching metals to keep that from happening. I highly recommend that you wait for OEM bolts. As an FYI ... be sure to check the torque. I beleive it is less the 3-ft/lbs Thanks. That's what I was looking for. The screws...

Then you probably were not speaking to Fred. He speaks very clearly and is easy to understand. You probably had a scammer. Good for you for suspecting it, and for letting the others in this forum know that the scammer is out there.

8.8 instead.
The nice thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.
And I hate it when I mix up my standards.

Anti-dive plunger bolts

I did a front shock rebuild over the weekend, and in the process of disassembly I discovered that the bolts holding the anti-dive valve plunger were seized. I managed to get them loose, but in the process I rounded off the corners of one of them. I'll want to replace both of them, but do I need to o...

I've had the Harmon videos for several years and while I don't always agree with the techniques that he shows, I've found them to be very useful and informative. I don't remember how I ordered the videos or how I paid for them, but I didn't have any issues. I would say that if you are looking at buy...

In my part of the world if the gap is more than 1/2" we can call in to the road department and they will come out and install a spacer ring to bring it to level. It might take them a while before they get around to it, but they usually will get it corrected before too many tires have been destr...

I don't know about on the '21 Wings, but on my '12 I have used a Transfer Pump that I picked up at O'Reilly's: https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/performance-tool/performance-tool-transfer-pump/pfm0/w1145/v/a/146851/automotive-suv-2019-ford-flex?q=liquid+pump&pos=0 I was able to insert the hos...

When I first started working on my CS degree at Cal State Northridge (CSUN) we could buy those cards from vending machines outside of the computer lab. Thankfully they did away with the need for the cards (and the vending machines) after my first year there, so I never really had to use them much. /...

Re: Riding Glove Shopping

For summer gloves I've been using the Rev'It Sand gloves that Scott recommends, but the pair that I have are starting to show their age. I'm thinking about using some Kobalt Impact Abrasion Gloves from Lowes: /dwight Never mind. I used them on a ride today. While they are cooler than the Rev'It glo...

Re: Recommendation for battery tender for 2003 GL1800

I've been using a Battery Tender Junior on my 2012 Wing ever since I bought the bike back in 2014. If the bike is going to sit for more than 2 or 3 days, it gets connected to the Tender. I still have the original battery in it and it seems to be going strong. I also check the battery periodically wi...

Re: What's Happening Today?

Two weeks ago we had temperatures in the 70s in the Boise area. Managed to get a few little joy rides in. This week the temps are in the low 40s for the high, and we've been seeing rain and even some snow flurries. I probably wouldn't be out on the bike, but I had a Patriot Guard mission on Tuesday,...

Re: What is this?

Well, I finally got back to this today. This is indeed part of the left headlight adjuster, and without that piece in place that headlight will not move, even when trying to use the adjuster motor. The right headlight is still adjustable. I was not able to simply pop that part back in to place, so a...

Re: What is this?

I think you are right. If I look up from under the fairing I can see one on the right headlight, but not on the left. There is a wire hanging down and I'm wondering if that caught it and pulled it off. I'll have to chase down that wire to figure out why it is hanging loose, but in the meantime how c...

On the topic of wire connections, I've been meaning to call your attention to these butt connectors: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073RMRCC3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details They are mostly meant for one-to-one connections, but in a recent wiring project I used them for two-to-one and even tw...

Well, in the cold sober light of day, we decided to let it go. Just couldn't justify shelling out that kind of money for what would essentially be the same bike as what we currently have. In many ways it would actually be less bike since there are some things that I've added on to my 2012, so I woul...

Do I have a good life or what

So we are a couple bottles of wine in to our evening and I happen to be looking at 2017 Goldwing for sale. Not really looking to replace my 2012, but if I happen to stumble on a good deal who knows? I find one with low mileage for what may be a good price down in McKinney Tx (about 1600 miles away)....

Well crud. Last year when we were doing this I felt pretty bad that I had only put in 6600 miles for 2020. At the time I thought for sure that in 2021 I would be able to get in more miles again. Just went out and checked, and my bike now has 65807 miles on it, for a grand total of 4040 miles for all...
