Re: Idle slowly going up on 06

I don't know if it's magic, but I have found that if i take a long trip (500-600) miles, the bike then seems to run differently around town. Idle surges and may hesitate at times. A reset has always corrected this.

Re: Idle slowly going up on 06

Have you tried the ECM reset? Start bike cold and let it run until the fans come on, then shut it down. Don't touch the throttle during this procedure.
I let my fans come on twice.
Normally do this a few times a year.

Re: Ground locations

There are multiple wires going to the ground under the tank. When i had my 2004, I needed to tighten the hose clamps under the tank. While I was in there i cleaned the grounds with a wire brush and them added another heavy wire and grounded it to another spot on the frame. Again, while you are doing...

Re: (PMA) Priority Maintenance Agreement

I read the fine print on the dealers extended service contract. I can’t cancel it so I am locked in. At least I will get the value of service back. I am still trying to cancel the five year maintenance agreement. Thanks for the reply. Love and learn I guess. James Too bad the dealer didn't disclose...

Re: (PMA) Priority Maintenance Agreement

Thanks so much. Every reply validated my decision to cancel. James I would have done the same. Ask the dealer if they sell a Honda extended warranty. I believe with new bikes it is only sold as a 4yr plan. Some dealers and salesman push the aftermarket plans because their commissions are huge. And ...

Re: Changed brake fluids and now CBS wont work

I don't know if the Haynes manual has the proper sequence for bleeding the brake system. It needs to be followed though. Front Brake Reservoir 1: Front Right Brake Upper Bleeder Valve 8mm 2: Front Left Brake Middle/lower Bleeder Valve 10mm Rear Reservoir (under right side chrome) 1: Front Left Brake...

Re: (PMA) Priority Maintenance Agreement

I would cancel both policies. They do not appear to be Honda OEM policies, but some aftermarket ones. If you really want to extend your warranty, the get the Honda extended warranty. It adds 4 year to the 3 year warranty for a total of 7 years. You can buy it as long as the 3 year warranty is in eff...

Re: Air filter inspection

Looks like a warm day project. Was not looking forward to the tear down to check a filter. Yes it is unless you have a heated shop. Plan on at least 2.5 hours if you done it several times before, longer if this is your first time. Even longer on a 2012+. Honda mounted more stuff on top of the air b...

Re: Wiring for a trailerto pull with my 2009 Wing

Howdy Nitefuzz As to the hitch- My 08 had a Bushtec hitch on it along with their wire harness. The hitch has been great having put @90,000 towing miles on the wing in the past 5 1/2 yrs. Never had a problem with the hitch. It's well made and tows great. Wire harness- I had to replace the Bushtec wi...

Re: Wiring for a trailerto pull with my 2009 Wing

Wiring depends on the trailer. 4 or 5 wire trailer harness. You can get the Kuryakyn 3241 harness adapter that makes the job plug and play. Hooks up between the OEM wiring plugs. Description says allows you to use Kury accessories, but you can cut the pigtail wires and use them. Running, brake turn ...

Re: Air filter inspection

Pretty much the same can be done by removing either air duct and looking in with a flashlight. ON a 2012 it's almost impossible to remove the push pins holding them in without some disassembly after the shelter is off. The bracket Honda added to the 2012 gets in the way. And the right side is worse...

Re: Trailer Hitches

Still thinking, but getting closer. I'm starting to like the Bushtec hitches. Of the hitches listed in my earlier post, the Add-On, Show Chrome, Kuryakyn, and now Bushtec, are all of these 6-point hitches mounted to the frame or subframe or a combination? Or are all or any 4-point frame mounts with...

OK. You have the premium sound with the power amp. It is a completely different setup.
This may be a dumb question, but are you sure you don't have the front rear balance adjusted to the front only?

Re: What is this colour called

The 82 lists only the stripes, no decals, also no color code and not available. The decals are probably only factory applied.
Again, the best thing to do is to have the color scanned and matched.

Re: What is this colour called

Those are actually decals. The parts list only shows what decal goes with the color of the bike. No color code for the decal itself. http://fiche.worldofpowersports.com/cyclegiantparts/showmodel.asp?Type=13&make=hondamc&a=18&b=79&c=0-DECALS You could take one of the side covers to an Auto paint supp...

They all came with the remote. Problem is some of the dealers left the remotes in the floor models.. Sticky fingers may have removed it. If you want to try to get the remote from a Honda car, check someones else's and get the FCC ID number. They were the same for 2001 to 2004. Not sure when they cha...

When adjusting the rear pre-load setting, set it to "0" and then try setting it to "25". Listen for when ti starts to labor. You will hear a distinct change in the sound. Should change right at 1 or 2 on the display. If not, it may need the fluid topped off in the rear shock pre-load adjuster. Part ...

Re: Braided Steel Brake and Clutch Hoses

Are you planning on changing all the rubber lines from the master cylinders to the calipers completely? They are all rubber, so all would age the same. What about the lines for the clutch. And remember, the stainless lines you put on are still rubber under the braid. Just seems like a waste of money...

You can find it online in the Manuals section:

https://goldwingdocs.com/Manuals.asp?type=GL1800

Look under the "Honda Goldwing Reference" section, you'll see it as "Solving brake shudder on GL1800".

I'm glad you could convert the document I sent you. That will be a big help to others.

Re: Rear brake Pulses

Rocky Bleed. Air is trapped in the high point on the brake system . Standard bleeding sequence will not purge this air. The Rocky Bleed involves opening a connection at the top of the system to purge this "bubble" of air.
I tried to attach the document but the site won't accept a .doc file.

Re: Necessary to periodically re-inspect for frame cracks?

The ones near the rear of the frame seem to come on slow. This was a design problem. The newer models had a heavier gusset at that triangle point.
I saw one that looked like a scratch in the paint, the beginning of the crack just beside the weld.
