Re: Cigarette lighter location

The original poster was asking about a cigarette lighter, not a power point socket. Lot's of suggestions for mounting a power outlet, but he needs to be able to reach it while he's riding to light his smokes!

Re: Cigarette lighter location

Looking for some ideas where to mount a cigarette lighter on my 05 1800. Putting one in the left pocket really isn't practical to use when riding down the hwy. I'm sure I'm not the only person who still smokes. I have mine mounted on the right side just in front of my knee on the panel that has the...

Re: Feed back through speaker when using Freewire

Check the ground strap on the antenna in the trunk. Make sure it's clean and tight at both the antenna and bottom of the trunk. Also make sure the strap is not broken at one of the bends. I had this happen on my 2004. Not with a freewire, but using the 5 pin cable. I added a piece of copper braid to...

Re: Which loctite?

One technique that I have HEARD of (not actually used) is to drill out the hole where the threads are slightly oversize, and fill the hole with JB WELD... ---BUT--- do not let it harden until you put the screw back in the hole.... ---AND---first you spray or coat the screw with silicone lubricant a...

if all else fails, take a pair of pliers and crimp the threads. blue loctite if it is metal to metal, red is stronger and is for bearings.
NO LOCTITE anywhere near the plastic parts. Unless you want to replace them.

Re: Which loctite?

If it's the screws that go into plastic, use a piece of a nylon wire tie in the hole, then the screw. Cut the wire tie flush with the top of the hole.
If the screws are going into threaded inserts, use a dab finger nail polish on the screw.

Re: static on intercom 2015 Wing

When you installed the CB did you install the two electronic filters that came with it? Those filters filter the noise from the alternator and the other, I'm not sure. They are both an inline connection. Unplug a connector and these plug into both ends you just unplugged. The 2015 CB did not requir...

Did you format the thumb drive before using it? Some drives have proprietary folder structure and hidden files. Make sure you use a quality thumb drive. Do a complete format using FAT32. You have to copy the music as MP3, the unit will not accept AAC (Apple). Setup folders on the thumb drive and cop...

Re: Replacement 2014 Tail Light

The 2012 and 2014 use the same assembly. Also, I replaced the ones on my 2012 with lights from a 2010. Perfect fit.
As far a LED's, you can get replacement bulbs (LED). I wouldn't get the ones that have integrated LED's. Some had problems with bad LED's, which meant replacing the entire unit.

Re: USB port problem

If he just started adding songs to a "new" drive, he may have to do a full format first. Some thumb drives come with with hidden software already on them. That may confuse the audio system.

Re: Brakes vibrating

It's not a common problem but it does happen to a good many 1800's. There are two other places that air can be trapped in the braking system. One way to eliminate the shake is to use the front brake along with the rear. The other is to do the "Rocky" bleed. Some say it does not help but in most case...

Re: Parts - best place to purchase

Had a mis-hap. Left turn lane light turned yellow, guy in front of me hesitated then hit his brakes. I had anticipated he was going through since probably 3 - 4 cars would have made it. But he was an "old" guy. In any event, put a crack in my front fender. Guess my trailer I was pulling didn't help...

Re: reverse will not move bike

How old is the battery? The starter motor requires full power for reverse. You can test the battery by using a voltmeter on the battery and then trying to start the bike with the throttle wide open. The bike will not start, but it will give you indication of the loaded voltage. Anything below 10.5 vo...

I am using Firefox, not Chrome. I have set exceptions in Firefox for this site to accept cookies!
If it was modem, ISP or browser, it would do it in all secure sites. As far as the device, it's a Desktop computer.

Also, exceptions set in my virus software.

Re: 2012 Intermittent Starting Problem

Are you still running the original battery? A low battery can give these symptoms. There will be enough voltage to crank the engine, but not enough for it to start. You can test it by putting a voltmeter on the battery terminals and then cranking the engine. The voltage should not drop below 10.5 v...
