trailer full of camping gear. it does ok but i want more.
By the time you put that kind of money in a 1500, you could probably buy and 1800.
The 1500 has 100 HP and 110 lb ft of torque. The 1800 has 124 HP and 125 lb ft of torque.
My 1800 can pull the same Bunkhouse near anywhere in 5th gear.

Re: changing cam shafts

Hot Rod Lincoln, err... Goldwing! What's not to like about that. I do not recall ever seeing such an offering of revised camshafts. There are a couple variants of a "trigger wheel" that changes the ignition timing which may improve low end performance. There also is a service bulletin for 1988 bike...

Re: Reverse Lights

I just tapped into the 1500's "R" lamp on the instrument panel to activate the LED panel. Since the reverse controller is under the trunk I found the wire connector under the seat and ran my wire to it. Does the 1800 have a reverse light or indicator? If not maybe the relay that controls reverse wo...

Re: headlight adjuster/preload down

I was told by a Honda dealer that the switch was not available separately, and I had to buy the complete panel, hence the price. Don't forget, I also live in Canada, where everything costs more, and nobody knows why. Thanks for your note. You could order it here: https://www.mrcycles.com/oemparts/a...

Looks great. Would be nice to find a way to install then on an 1800.

Re: Luggage capacity comparison 1983 vs 2018

I've been reading about the reduced luggage capacity of the 2018 + Goldwings. I can't find any specs on my 1983 Interstate. I'd like to get some idea of just how much the new Wings have, compared to what I've been used to for the last 37 years. Does anyone have the capacities of the side bags and t...

Re: changing cam shafts

What are you towing that you need more torque? When I had my 1200, it had tons of low end. I pulled a 450lb Bunkhouse camper and never had any problems pulling out. High end was a different story. I had to run 4th gear on most small hills.

Re: Powertrain limited warranty

Limited warranty is just that, LIMITED. What is the mileage limit in those 24 months? I would ask just what is covered, and see it in writing, and what is the deductible. It's easy to tell you that the repair needed is normal wear and tear. The drive train is pretty much bullet proof on an 1800, unl...

Re: headlight adjuster/preload down

The foglight switch is not part of the OEM panel. It is added when foglights are installed. As stated above, you can buy the FL switch separately.
Where did you come up with the $600 price? Partzilla shows it for about $190.

Re: Glue to use

3M weatherstrip adhesive. Put a thin coat on both rubber and metal. It will hold better is you scuff up the metal and then clean it and the rubber. Brake cleaner works good. Make sure you have both pieces aligned. Once cured it will not come off.
Needs to cure for 24 hours.

Re: Dealer Won’t Work On MY Bike

What is the condition of the battery, how old is the battery. Does the bike crank and not start? A weak battery will allow the bike to crank and not start.
The ECM needs at least 10.5 volts to start. Take the battery to an good auto parts store and have them load test it.

Re: Rear trunk latch

You say the silicone spray does work for a while. The spray does not last on metal parts. Try some light grease on the catches on the opener unit. Do you hear the mechanism trying to pop the trunk? Also, try it with the trunk open to see if it's even trying to unlatch. You say it's a 'new' 17. If al...

Stock. It was done at the dealership.
This is an outstanding reason to expect that it is, in fact, the lever. :D
Or did they disturb or break one of the switches? I am not sure if the switches can cause this problem.

Stock or aftermarket lever? Some of the aftermarkets push on the switches even when all the way out.

If you are talking about the lights in the mirrors, I don't believe the UK bikes are wired for them.
Check your motor vehicles laws. It may be illegal.

Re: Torque oil filter?

Hold the throttle wide open while cranking. Do this two or three times for about 5 seconds each time. The engine will NOT start as long as the throttle is wide open. Just keep cranking 5 seconds at a time until the oil light goes out. Your filter is now full.

Re: Clear coating small area

One other thing to consider. Talk to a local body shop. They may do the entire trunk lid when they are painting another vehicle. You would probably have to prep the entire lid, but they may do it little or no cost.
Can't hurt to ask.

Re: Cigarette lighter location

The original poster was asking about a cigarette lighter, not a power point socket. Lot's of suggestions for mounting a power outlet, but he needs to be able to reach it while he's riding to light his smokes!
