Re: Finding Ethanol-free Gas

Ethanol-free fuel around Indianapolis.
I was out this past weekend and came across a newly opened BP station, in Sheridan, IN that had a pump with Lucas Oil brand Ethanol-free fuel.
Hoping this is the start of a trend in the area.

Would Metal Rescue rust remover work as well? It's more widely available.

Thanks

Great thread. Having the exact same "fuel starved" issues with my '77. Looks like I've been rescued by this site yet again.

I should add that I've removed the fairing and I'm back to the original bucket.

headlight ring screws/bolts

What size are the screws/bolts that connect the ring to the bucket on a '77 GL1000?
I've yet to find a part reference, match the diameter or the thread.

Re: Headlight re-wiring

If you have the original pigtails on your turn signals, there should be colored rings at the ends of the wires. There will be a blue ring and a blue and white ring for the right side and a orange ring and orange and white ring on the left side. Those connect into their corresponding harness wires. O...

Re: Headlight re-wiring

I just finished the adventure you are just starting. Feel free to send me any questions and I'll gladly share what I know.
I printed a large version of the wiring schematic and that really helped. By large I mean 30" wide large.

Photo's from a vintage bike gathering.

Saw a bunch of really cool old bikes this past weekend at an event called the Rockers Reunion. Just a lot of fun seeing all the restored bikes and wonderfully creative altered bikes. The only two older Goldwings were these two. Note the brake lights on each - one is housed in a grenade the other in ...

Re: Turn Signal Controller replacement

Thanks for the reply. I was able to identify the problem. I'm using turn signal stems from a different Honda and the threaded part seems to be too long and was crushing the wires. I cut off some of the thread with a grinder and all is good. I just started unplugging things until I could isolate the ...

Turn Signal Controller replacement

I'm in the process of trying to get my turn signals to work properly. Hopefully the last step in getting this bike done and out on the road. I replaced the old turn signal controller with a new electronic controller shown here. LL552.png With this in place my turn signals work in reverse. Left becom...

Re: Honda 76 GL 1000 Thermostat Switch + Fan

I was looking to repair/clean the switch on my '76 and ran across the suggestion of using the same switch from a '76 Honda Civic. I found the part from this supplier - http://www.carid.com/1977-honda-civic-engine-cooling-parts/beck-arnley-cooling-electrical-36204928.html - if looks count for anythin...

Re: How to remove, rebuild and reinstall your starter

Here's a link to a starter that would appear to be what is needed for a GL1100. http://www.dbelectrical.com/c-2024-gl1100.aspx
I purchased a starter here and it works great.

Re: How to remove, rebuild and reinstall your starter

Ran into a different situation when changing the starter in my '77 GL1000. I had the bike on the center stand and drained the oil. (overnight in my 32 degree garage) Then moved bike to the side stand as per many recommendations. Removed the gear pedal to more easily access the lower bolt. Removed bo...
