Changing alternator

Who can tell me what the little component is bolted to the back of the alt.? One wire goes up towards the radio area on my 1500.
Is it part of the alternator or a noise suppressor(which someone "thought" it was). Is it the regulator or is that built in?
Thanks in advance

Re: Cooling fan plug. Gl1500

I appreciate it and i figured it out this morning. I got my trusty multi meter and all was revealed!! Hooked everything up, turned on the key and grounded the wire that goes to the switch on the radiator and the sweet sound of two fans coming on filled my ears! No more toggle switch! Thanks again. Ok gang, new question from nh. The connecting plugs for the engine fan(s), female side, one spade has one wire to it, the other has 2 wires to it, the question is as follows- using the locking tab as the top of the plug, which spade gets the single and which gets the double? This is for both sides. ...

Re: Gl1500 sitting around....help

Change oil, check water, (change that later, check air box and exaust for critter nests and fire it up. May need new gas. Make sure temp and oil pressure gauges are operating ok. Then go from there

Temp gauge sensor vs. fan switch sensor

So i just got the info on the fan switch location, bottom of left radiator, my question now is since the fans dont come on when hot, except for toggle switch, i know its way hot cuz the temp gauge works. Someone please tell me they are operated from separate sensors! 1990 gl1500

Re: &):-"(; tires

Well the way i look at a lot of different items from different manufacturers is you put them in a bag, shake it, dump it and they all come out the same. I decided on shinko 733 on the front and 734 on the back. I've read reviews from manufacturers as well as customers, and for the money and the mile...

I want to make my own informed decision, im ...

Re: Fairing rattles

I appreciate the ideas, ive given thought to other quick fixes but after finding a broken piece of trim around the left mirror with the metal clip missing, id like to find a complete break down image(s) of the main fairing assembly. Any further comments are of course welcome
