Re: Air cleaner change

One of the hardest things about it is some of the plugs are hard to disconnect. And when you put it back together make sure you hear a CLICK when you put the plugs back together. A common problem after an air filter change is that something doesn't work, it is usually caused by a plug not being conn...

Re: loses power cuts off like no gas while riding

while your waiting for the rebuild kit to arrive by pass the auto shut off valve and see if that helps, If it doesn't you don't need to rebuild it. It is that silver thing in front of the gas cap. Pull the hose off the back of it and hook it up directly to the fuel filter, if the ASV is the problem ...

Re: loses power cuts off like no gas while riding

You can bypass the auto shut off valve to see if that is part of your problem, I doubt if it is but it doesn't hurt to try. . Disconnect the hose that goes into it and connect it straight to the fuel filter. When the one on my 97 SE started to act up I did this and it ran fine so I could get the aut...

The problem with a digital read out is when the sun hits it, which is most of the time, you can't see it.

Re: Just wanted to know - warranty issue

I have heard that some Honda shops will not do warranty work if you have a trailer hitch, they say Honda will void the warranty if you have a hitch. I haven't seen that, it is just what I heard. If the shop wants the money they will fix it and not say anything about the hitch when they turn the repa...

Re: Not a Good Day at the Gas Station (need a part)

Hope you find a side cover. Of course we all have solutions after the fact. I always have a spare key on every motorcycle I have owned. On the wing there are several places you can hide it. Tape it to the metal bar that holds the battery in. tape it to the inside of one of the rear passenger pockets...

There were several recalls on the 01 wing. Frame cracks and over heating to name a few. Take the VIN to a dealer and see if all the recalls and service bulletins were completed.

It is an easy job. I had that happen on my Honda Shadow, Take the switch off and you will see a small button, spray it with contact cleaner and see if that helps, you should hear it click as you push on igt.

I guess I should have classified my statement better. On my 1500 and 1800 Gold Wings all 5 that I have owned I didn't gravity change the fluids, I only heard about this when I started riding Honda Shadows.

Re: brake fluid change

I found that the gravity feed method works great. Take the top off the resorvior, and connect a hose to the bleeder valve and put the other end in a jar or container to catch the fluid. Open the valve and as the fluid in the resorvior gets low add more to it, watch it until it runs clear, tighten th...

When you mount a volt meter with the LED read out most places that you mount it will be almost impossible to read while riding due to the sun washing it out.

Re: GL1500 shift shaft stabilizer mod. No drilling.

I know that this is a common problem since there is a lot of posts about it but 108,000 miles on my 92 from 1992 to 1998, and about 50,000 on my 98 SE from 1999 to 2003 and I never had a shiftier seal leak.

Re: How to remove Kurykyn iso grips!

Heat will help, use a hair dryer to heat up the grip and as other said, a soft mallet to hammer it on. If push comes to shove use a cutting tool to cut thru it and you can save the throttle sleeve.

I can understand why a rider would need a volt meter but never could understand why a gear indicator is needed.
