Re: intercom advice

I'm old school but I like the wired system. with the wireless you have to remember to charge them. If you use a CB you cam only pair wireless to a couple units.

Interstate did not have a reverse, the reverse lever, if it has reverse is a black lever located by your left knee with your foot on the pegs

Re: Too Good to Be True?

It has to be a scam,. On sale since JUNE, come on now. If it was real it would be gone by now. I like to play with ads like that. Answer the ad and say your interested, Their reply will probably be something like, I'm deployed now but the bike is ready to ship. or if you know what town the bike is i...

Re: Advice please

There were several recalls on the 01 wing. Frame cracks and over heating to name a few. Take the VIN to a dealer and see if all the recalls and service bulletins were completed.

Re: Hand break switch

It is an easy job. I had that happen on my Honda Shadow, Take the switch off and you will see a small button, spray it with contact cleaner and see if that helps, you should hear it click as you push on igt.

Has anybody removed the cruise control unit off the 1500 for good, its a headache, too many problems
why remove it, just don't use it. What problems is it causing if you don't use it?

Re: brake fluid change

I guess I should have classified my statement better. On my 1500 and 1800 Gold Wings all 5 that I have owned I didn't gravity change the fluids, I only heard about this when I started riding Honda Shadows.

Re: brake fluid change

I found that the gravity feed method works great. Take the top off the resorvior, and connect a hose to the bleeder valve and put the other end in a jar or container to catch the fluid. Open the valve and as the fluid in the resorvior gets low add more to it, watch it until it runs clear, tighten th...

Re: Volt meter

When you mount a volt meter with the LED read out most places that you mount it will be almost impossible to read while riding due to the sun washing it out.

Common problem with most push buttons on the 1500 wings. Lots of 4 way flashers buttons stick also. Spray contact cleaner into that switch also.

Re: GL1500 shift shaft stabilizer mod. No drilling.

I know that this is a common problem since there is a lot of posts about it but 108,000 miles on my 92 from 1992 to 1998, and about 50,000 on my 98 SE from 1999 to 2003 and I never had a shiftier seal leak.

Re: How to remove Kurykyn iso grips!

Heat will help, use a hair dryer to heat up the grip and as other said, a soft mallet to hammer it on. If push comes to shove use a cutting tool to cut thru it and you can save the throttle sleeve.

Re: Gear indicator

I can understand why a rider would need a volt meter but never could understand why a gear indicator is needed. If you know your bike you should know by the feel and RPM's what gear your in and if you need to downshift to pass or go up an incline. over 250,000 miles on Gold Wings and never had a nee...

Yes it is the stock rim. Mothers mag wheel polish and a little elbow grease works great.

Depends on how bad the wheel is. I use Mothers mag wheel cleaner polish and it works great. But if the wheel is to far gone it might be easier to just get another wheel.

Re: Solution to a spare key

curtm, you need to cut the key shorter so it fits closer to the fuel door.
I used a radio know also. Pain in the rear to take the key out to gas up. If you cut it where it is flat with the lid there is nothing to hit to brake it off. I made them for the saddle bags on my Concours 1400

Re: Fuel capacity

Wow the last time i was out i got 210KM's on a tank, that's about 130miles, yikes, and yes it runs good and all that stuff Curt Another reason for low MPG's can be in your right wrist. The more you crank the throttle the less your MPG will be. If you keep the RPM's under 3,000 you should get close ...

Re: Body part fitment

As the others have said, the wire harness for the radio is big, it has to lay down in the correct position or you will have that gap. Very frustration to get it perfect but it can be done.
