Re: Decision to buy 2002 Goldwing?

I had an 02 and loved it. BUT there was several recalls and service bulletins on them. The frames were know to crack in places other than where Honda did the recalls. Not saying all of them had a problem but a lot of them did. Check with a Honda dealer and see what has been done to that bike. \

Re: GL1800 High Beam bulb change

When the 1800 was new and a few people had to replace the high beam and found out how hard it was to replace them I only ran my low beams in the day time, I know a lot of riders use high beams in the day light to be seen better, my bike was orange, if they couldn't see me oin that thing they had a b...

Re: 2000 goldwing

As others have said, you will need to put a lot of money and time into it to get it on the road. It is still a 20 year old bike. Not worth a penny over $4000 even if it was in perfect condition. Along with other things that you know you would have to do once you get it on the road a lot of the rubbe...

Re: Side panels

If someone would start to produce them again the ca also be used on the 1800 Wing since the side panels attach the same way. but as someone said earlier, if the rubber grommets are old and dry you should replace them

Re: Air Filter

I think a lot of it depends on the conditions you ride in. If you live 2 miles down a road you probably will have to change it more often than if you ride nice paved roads all the time. Manufacturers often suggest maintenance intervals for worst case situations. I usually do first maintenance on a b...

Re: Techs say its OK, will continue looking for answers

When the dealer tells you IT IS NORMAL, have them start another wing and see if it does it, You know it won't, I had a dealer tell me that about a complaint I had on a Plymouth I bought years back,. They started 2 other cars they had on their lot and neither one acted like mine so they had to admit ...

wingstuff.com has a bunch of different styles. I believe that the 1500 and the 188 wing use the same cover.

Re: Anyone know who can do brakes on a 99 Aspencade in Southern CA?

There are a lot of things that should be done to a bike that old. If you do not feel comfortable doing it find an independent shop. Maybe you can find a GWRRA chapter in your area an attend one of their meetings and see if they can suggest a shop in your area. The 1500 wings looks harder to work on ...

Re: Older 1500

Unless your getting a great price on it I would look around for one closer, lots of 1500 for sale in our area. Check craigslist. You have to consider the cost of the trip, going there and coming back to Ca. That would not be cheap. This one has been for sale for awhile, you can probably get a good d...

Re: Older 1500

The bike has to have 7,500 miles on it to be registered in Calif because it is not a 50 state bike. When you take it to the DMV to get it registered , and you will have to take it to the DMV, they will want to look at it and you will need to show them the VIN and frame number and motor number. Back ...

Re: Buying a used 2000 SE 25th Anniversary Edition?

I have seen that bike on CL for a few weeks now. Looks nice. ask about timing belts if they have been changed, check tires for wear and production date, ask about when coolant and air filters were changed. make sure all the switches work and do not stick, a common problem, ask about service records....

Re: Valve adjustment necessary at 51000 miles?

Most that have it done say no adjustments were required. It is a good idea to have it checked at least once. If you want to save a little have the dealer check the valves and do the oil and air filter change yourself.

Re: Oops, this one went way too far!

stuff happens. A few years back a riding buddy told me on his way home from a ride he noticed his 05 wing was getting a wobble. I said he probably lost a wheel weight and I would come over and check it out. As I approached his garage and his bike was on the centerstand I noticed a bald spot on the r...

Re: 95 Goldwing

When I buy a used bike and I have bought about 8 wings and several other bikes, I always change the oil, fluids, plugs, and all filters. Not a big deal. I always ask about the tires because that adds to the total price I have in the bike. When I show up I'm ready to buy and ride it home, the seller ...

Re: 95 Goldwing

He had it posted on facebook market place but now I found it on craigslist. Nice looking bike, has several pictures of it, the only draw back I can see is he says the tires are 8 - 10 years old so they would have to be replaced now. That would be around $500. I would be tempted if he would take $2000.

A person I know is selling his 1995 1500 with only 44,000 miles on it. I test drove it and it seems to run perfect.
