Re: Oil change miles, times, etc
I used T6 on my past bikes but since since I bought my 1800 VTX I can't find the T6 so I have used T5, I change oik every 3,000 miles anyway. Old school I guess.

Re: What to look for on an ‘03
There were several recalls and service bulletins on the early 1800 wings. The dealer can look them up, make sure all of them were completed, especially the frame re weld. Also beware that the frame on the early wings have cracked in places other than where Honda had the re weld done. Also check the ...

Re: Bridgestone 180/70/r16 vs 180/60/r16
I had a 70 series Stone on my 08 wing, never had a problem. But like everything else, what works for some might not work for all.

Re: Goldwing Frame Cracking
Some of the frames were cracking in places other than where Honda had issued the recall for and they did not cover those. Once your wing is converted to a trike the Honda warranty is voided. They will void the warranty if you put a trailer hitch on it, I have even seen where they voided the warranty...

you didn't get that one but you get another one? You might want to look around even in other states near you. Back in 03 I bought an 02 and flew from So Calif to Portland Oregon to pick it up and had a nice ride home.

I have had great luck with all the Gold wings I have owned, so far the Yamaha is doing great. Only put about `1800 miles on it since I bought it but they were fun miles.

Does the bike have a CB antenna? When you push the push to talk button do you see TX on the screen?

this is common on the Gold wings, more so on the 1800. If you do not want to adjust the cable then after you push the SET button push the acc button for a few seconds

Yamaha 1900 Raider GREAT
Ok so I have owned a lot of bikes including 7 Gold Wings, a few Shadows and 2 VTX 1300's and 3 Kawasaki's including a super fast 1400 Concours. But a few months back I was looking at a Yamaha, never own a Yamaha. A friend bought a new Corvette and lost interest in the bikes, he owned 2. A 1300 Yamah...

Re: What to watch out for?
There must be a reason why it has been there for that long of a time. Is the title clean? You can a vehicle report on it and see if it has been in an accident. If you get a good deal on it I would make the dealer change all the fluids, and air filter and check the valves. Also it would have to have ...

Re: Saddlebag bar mounting
I've removed the saddlebag a few times before but that was when I was living in Redondo, when I had a normal garage with electricity and could do work/maintenance on the bike without issue. My new apartment gave me something, I'm not sure I'd call it a garage. it's shared, doesn't have electricity ...

Re: I hate Honda Dealers
Most private owned shops wo0rk on anything. Dealers don't want to work on older ones I think because if something would break while they are workings on it, could be because of age of what ever broke, they would have to front the cost of the repair to that item IF they could find it to replace it. I...

Re: New Buyer Concerns
to many problems for a bike with that low of miles on it. Unless you can do the work you night have a hard time finding a shop to work on it. Lots of shops will not work on a bike that old. Keep looking. If you look at an 1800 Wing I would not go older than an 05. many of the early 1800 wings had ma...

Re: Best GPS for non-Nav wings
I use a Garmin NUVI . I have 2 different ones. One is an older with FM modulator, (I think that is what it is called) you can use an open F< station on your radio to have the GPS sound come into you bike speakers/headset. the other one is a NUVI 50 LM. Both work great and a lot cheaper than the moto...

Re: Storage question
weight limits are put there is cover the manufacturers behind. At one one of the wing Dings I went to, don't remember which one or where it was but there was a scale set up so you could ride on it and see your total weight, probably 90 % were over suggested weight. Just like other things manufacture...

I had 2 1800 wings, an 02 and an 08, never noticed a buzz in the lever, I used Shell Rotella T 6 fully synthetic oil,.

Re: Storage question
I doubt most owners weigh anything that goes in the bags or trunk. If you ride 2 up most are probably over the recommended weight capacity for the bike anyway. according to the owner's manual the maximum total weight (includes the weight of the rider, passenger, all cargo and all accessories) is 408...
