Most shops will mount the rear tire on the bike for about $100 labor/. well worth it than going thru all that trouble

was it running and just stopped? easy stuff first, check fuel pump, fuel filter. I don't remember on the 1500 if it will turn over if the kill switch is bad.

The spring goes in the end of the foot peg, here is a diagram, put the spring in and see if it works, if not, flip it over.

I run Bridgestone's on my 06 wing, But I have owned 3 1800 wings, I always run 38-40 in front and 40 - 42 in rear, never had an issue like the one you are having. All my 1800' have been 1 up. Some with gear for long trips and some for day rides. My rides are mostly twisty roads.

you could check a parts diagram and sere if they have the same part number I checked and 1988 - 1997 are the same number,25125-MT8-003, I could not find a number for 98 - 2000

No matter what ones you go with, make sure the cables and fluid lines are long enough.
