1.5v on the green white wire? And the turn signals and horn work? The green/yellow goes to the rear light assembly.

Re: Switching out a GL1100 "tank" panels for GL1000 "tank" panels.

I'm not going to say impossible but it's a whole different animal. The 1100 false tank comes off in 1 piece and the 1000 has separate side panels that hinge to the inner piece that has all the electrical components mounted to it as well as the coolant tank and I doubt it would fit the 1100 frame.

Re: pulse generator 1200ltd

It is very difficult to check a TPS with a digital meter, they are never steady enough to be able to see the place where the fault is.

Re: Shroud on a GL1000 (Known as mongrel plate)

Thanks for that, In that case I wont consider it! it just seemed to me that it was kind of superfluous since when the rad gets too hot the fan comes in to cool it down and would cool the carbs as well most likely?? Thanks for your answer to my query.. Regards John The fan doesn't make cold air. It ...

The GR/GL sensors are 140 to 180 ohms. Are you having a problem?

It is a heat shield to keep the radiator heat off the carbs, they get too much heat as is. I know of no good reason to leave out out.

My father always told me that retirement is good, but you still need a reason to get up in the morning.

Re: If it sounds like the valves are too loose...

Can you remove the rocker arms without pulling the head? I was under the impression that the axles where the rocker arms are on are pressed into the aluminum 'housings', and if you take these housings off, the camshaft will fall out? I'll try your suggestion. Yes, you have to take the belts off and...

Re: If it sounds like the valves are too loose...

Why pull the heads? Just turn it a little at a time and look at the cam lobes. If anything is questionable remove the rocker arms to get a better look.

Re: Rationalizing Bikes

I can change an 1800 air filter faster than you can change a 1500 rear tire & an 1800 rear tire faster than you can change a 1500 air filter probably. They did drop the ball on getting to the 1800 clutch slave bleeder I do admit.

any advice on sealing without pulling apart . devcon , plumbers putty , some type of gas resistant sealer etc??? thinking of wrapping tubes with thin line of sealant and pushing in like caulk. any one ever try
That would be about as likely as saving the titanic with duct tape.

Sorry, I had taken the 1st disc out of a clutch pack I had on the shelf and measured it. I went back and took out the second friction disc, it measures 120mm inside. I hadn't noticed that first one being different.

Did you synchronize the carbs? With the engine running and the air filter out look down in the carbs and see if there is fuel bubbling out of the main jets. The mixture adjustments will do very little toward fixing a bad over rich or lean condition.

Re: Question on overheating

I actually unsoldered the bottom tank of a radiator to be able to rod the tubes out. Apparently someone had put stop leak of some kind in it and very few of the tubes had free flow through them. Seemed fine running on the stand but overheated riding about 10 miles. If yours is not too bad plug the o...

Re: Interesting theft-recovery idea.

I would think stamping something into the frame would be a better idea, not a removable part. I haven't examined a brake pedal that close, they may all have that.

I went and looked at a stray bake pedal, I guess the PO initials were CED GL11.
