Re: another "what's this?"

The wires come out the top of the front cover then behind the right timing cover if it is an 82 or 83. 83i has 2 wires, 1 for neutral and 1 for OD, an 83 aspencade engine has 6.

Yes that is an air compressor for both the front and rear. The key has to be in the acc position for it to operate.

Re: Fl light, no flashes, rpm surges at idle

When the light comes on stop and put the side stand down, leave the engine running, and watch for a code to flash.

Re: another "what's this?" ... UPDATE

UPDATE ... it seems i was mistaken as to how the neutral switch/light works . the neutral light is ALWAYS on when that single wire is grounded ... thus giving a "false" neutral. i found this out the scary way while crouched down checking for voltage drop at the starter motor; hit the start switch a...

Re: another "what's this?"

The single wire with the eyelet is the neutral switch wire, has to go on the neutral switch on the lower right of the engine. The others kind of look like the fan switch wires.

Re: wrong carburetor repair kit?

Use your original jets and your original float valves if you can. Jets don't wear out and aftermarket jets are not always the size marked & aftermarket valves usually don't work.

Sounds just like my 08 did from new and still did when it met it's unfortunate end at 122000 miles, and like my 2010 at over 80,000 still sounds like that.

Re: does '77 plastic fit '81 ?

well, i haven't seen the stuff in person yet (a solid hours drive away), but the fairing has a honda emblem on it, and the bags say "interstate". could it be he installed stuff that came from an '80-'83 ? will the crash bars bolt on ? are you saying that a '77 has a completely different frame than ...

thanks for the reply, dave.
so, if the seller kept all the mounting hardware i should be in business ?
No, that's what I was trying to get across, the 1000 brackets will NOT fit an 1100. The crash bars probably will though.

Re: does '77 plastic fit '81 ?

The fairing, luggage etc. on a 1000 was all added on, didn't come with any of it. No, the mountings are all different from a 1000 to an 1100 but If you could find the proper brackets they could be mounted on an 1100.

#1 is definitely the compressor motor power.

#2, 3, 4 and 5 are not aftermarket. They are the connectors that go to the compressor control panel:

Correct, I forgot it was an aspy with the compressor mounted under the top cover.

With the diode setup, when I shut the high beams off will the auxiliary lights go out ?

Re: Wiring - lost pics and I am stuck

#s 2,3&4 are added on, can't help.
#5 is an extra auxiliary light connection.
#6 is a ground for the turn signal flasher, not needed for a 2 pin flasher.
#7 is a ground wire for the fairing.

Ok, Thank you, is there a specific size of diode that will work better than the other? I have looked at a Schottky diode or is there something better for this setup.
I would think that would do the trick.

Then high beams off, lights off, switch still on. Then high beams off, switch on, lights on.

Those 2 things are not possible at the same time.

Why when a digital player is much smaller, probably cheaper, holds way more and doesn't care if it gets shaken a bit.

Re: Auxiliary Lights Wired to Highbeams

An alternative would be to use a NO relay (T87) and put a diode in the blue wire from the high beams, your switch wire to the same terminal on the relay (85) and ground 86. Then you could go direct to B+ for T30.

Thank you, I will definitely test as I go with this. Thank you.
You are going to have to have a switch source to T30, otherwise the driving lights will come on with the key off.

The oil is on the bottom of the bowl on the underneath of it. Not on the case no. Sometimes i have had fuel there as well.
I think it's probably a fuel leak, just a seep and it dries up and looks like oil. Nothing else makes sense.
