Re: HAMs: A CB question
Hey everyone, Greetings From Thailand! I have not seen an answer to a question, so I'm going to pop it out there. Has anyone found a decent VHF radio that could be mounted on the goldwing without any clutter? I'm in Thailand, and I would like to install a VHF radio, but I just don't know where to s...

The synch basically only affects it at idle and a little bit after. Probably lean on #2. Adjust the valves before synching the carbs.

Re: Throttle Cable Too Short
There are three different places. One is on the pull cable, right next to the handgrip: https://goldwingdocs.com/images/HowTo/ThrottleCables/ThrottleCables01.jpg The other two are on the ends of the cables attached to the throttle body: https://goldwingdocs.com/images/HowTo/ThrottleCables/ThrottleC...

Could be in the exhaust. The headers have a double walled pipe, I had one once that the inner pipe had broken loose.

This is true but where else would the oil come from except up through the cable?virgilmobile wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 12:30 pm This is true.It will keep oil from weeping on to the tach housing.
This fellow has oil all the way up to the tach.

Looks like an aftermarket solenoid and they are NOT wired the same. Happens all the time, plug it in without checking and it will smoke something.

There are no headlight relays on an 1100 and the same fuse powers both low and high. If you have no power to the blue wire I would suspect the high/low switch.

There is a seal where the tach cable goes into the fuel pump housing. You have to pull the housing off to change it.

Re: Let’s play a game - What is this?!
That's what I thought at first, but a horn relay uses a switched ground side, horn button closes ground circuit to the coil. Look at the underside of the relay, one side of the coil goes to the mount bracket and this relay doesn't provide for switch in the ground side of the coil. Very observant of...

Thank you for the very informative response. Can’t say that I am thrilled with the prospect of an expensive repair. I do need to get this resolved though as I am heading to Alaska next year. For now, I am in a holding pattern until I get the bike back. I have already given them the ok to replace th...

Make sure the dogbone fuse isn't cracked, it might show power on both ends when not under load but not carry any current. If that proves good look at the connector on the top of the starter relay.

Sometimes you can get them to work by messing with the adjustment screw, mostly when they're dead they're dead.

That's an old fashioned horn relay. Probably last used on a vehicle in the 1960s.

Mine was doing that until I had the brake recall done. They used a pressure bleeder and it cured the problem. Before all I had to do was just touch the front brake, not even enough to feel it and it didn't chatter.

Re: Axle bolt and calipers??
The axle should be tightened before the wheel is installed. Then when the end caps are installed the right side should align itself and you might have to move the left fork leg in or out a bit to center it in the caliper bracket. That is if my memory serves me correctly, it could be the opposite.

The OEM thermostats rarely ever fail. I worked on Honda cars for over 35 years and could count the # of bad thermostats on 1 hand with fingers left over.

Probably nothing wrong with the oil pump. The problem is more likely to be the chain that drives the pump in the rear. If the engine survives unscathed it is a great testament to how tough these things are.

I have been running mine 50,000 miles and they are still not terribly dirty. Honda's service intervals are ridiculous. They say 30,000 miles in cars, what's different? Cars with standard spark plugs and electronic ignition, 30,000 miles, what's different? The engine pictured was not from a dirty air...

It appears I was wrong about the ignition not being fused. Thanks Dave! Hopefully that’s the same manual I’ve got; but it appears I need to get a hold of page 16.
