Re: Off-road Rally Goldwings

In the Summer or whenever it is warmer than 70 degrees F, I where a tee-shirt and tennis shoes, and usually Levis, sometimes shorts. Many think that is not a good idea. My choice, just like riding a Goldwing in the rough.

Re: Off-road Rally Goldwings

Been riding for 50 years. I have 11 bikes, each uniquely suited for a specific type of riding. The GL1800 is great for two up cruising on the hiway and twisty mountain roads. My XR400 is great for difficult single tracks with hill climbs. My XR200 is well suited for very tight single track, and is a...

Re: What brand of AGM battery is best?

I found these pages describing a set of torture tests performed on various AGM motorcycle batteries: Texas Toast Battery Cookoff Texas Toast Battery Cookoff Part 2 Without question, by a far margin, the clear winner is the "MotoBatt" battery. I haven't heard of this brand before, but I'm pretty sur...

Wind Protection

A new Goldwing was following me on the freeway this morning. By the looks of the movement of his jacket, it appeared to me that the windshield was not giving him much in the way of wind protection. Does anyone have any experience that would contradict my observations? Since I ride in cold weather th...

Re: A new method of demounting and remounting tires on rims

I bought a set of straps using the Amazon link provided. Can't wait to give them a try. I've been using large C-clamps to push the beads in, but this looks like a much easier method.

Re: SHINKO TIRES

I would also like to say that I have a set of Shinkos on my Kawasaki 1500 Classic, and they are doing just fine. The Kaw is a few hundred pounds lighter than the GL1800, and the tires are a different design. I think that they probably just don't have the radials quite right. I won't buy them for the...

Re: SHINKO TIRES

I put a set of Shinkos on my bike a couple of years ago. The front one failed at about 4000 miles, resulting in me having to get a tow truck to bring me home. The rear one failed at about 6000 miles. Both had tread separation.

Interesting. I didn't have any trouble ordering, but that was at a price more like $32.99, and extra for tracking and insurance.

Re: I Cut The CORD!!!!! Best $35 spent! BT-S2 1000m Bluetooth Headset Review

My friend did some research, and the BT will pair with the Sena, but not other Bluetooth units like my Torc. I ordered a second one to install on my HJC helmet. For clarification, I tried to pair it with several different devices one at a time, like the phones and my Torc.

Re: I Cut The CORD!!!!! Best $35 spent! BT-S2 1000m Bluetooth Headset Review

Okay. So, I installed the thing, and it pairs with my phone, with my wife's phone, plays music from either phone, but will not pair with my Torc bluetooth. After reading the Chinese to Ingrish translation in the manual, it seems that this set will only pair with other units like itself. Has anyone h...

Came today. No tracking info. I think I paid extra for insurance but not tracking. I will report on the performance after I get it installed in the Spousal Unit's helmet.

I just ordered one. I'll let everyone know how it works. I currently have a Torc helmet with built in Blue Tooth. I will be installing this set on my wife's helmet, and hopefully it will pair easily with the Torc.

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

I noted a few issues that would be a problem for me: 1) No center stand. I use mine a lot. Especially during service times. 2) Fairing does not look like it protects hands. 3) storage. My wife packs lots of stuff, even for a day trip. 4) Engine complexity for an extra five HP? Maybe for an extra fif...

On various motorcycles I own and have owned, I do believe I have used every brand out there. Except Kenda, never tried a Kenda yet. Anyway, the only brand that has ever failed is Shinko. Re: How do you brake your Wing?

It is my humble opinion that you should always use both front and rear brakes during all braking situations. My reason for this is because if a panic situation arises when you need to stop quickly, the most natural thing to do would be what you do most often, and if you need to stop in a hurry, usin...
