Re: Tire choices for my 1500

I don't know why you are having that trouble with the Avon. Mine run smooth as silk at any speed I want to ride. Is there a knot or other deformity on the tire? Is the bead seated all the way around the tire? It has to be some defect in that tire or possibly the rim.

Re: GLl1500 radio

I had not heard it stated that "half the distance is 4 times the signal strength" but that is correct. Radio waves signal strength is proportional to the inverse square of the distance . So that means if you double the distance you get 1/4 the signal strength. It sounds like your riding buddy really...

Re: GLl1500 radio

I mounted cradle and 12v outlet for a wireless XM SkyFi power supply/modulator in the trunk, it's so close to AM/FM ant I never get interference. In my 4 wheeled vehicles, I have wired inline modulators that plug in ant wire. Anyways, I just set SkyFi in cradle, plug in modulator, turn on and selec...

If you are somewhat of a cheapskate, like me, you can find one at Harbor Freight. They are really cheap but will do for what you want it for.

Re: GLl1500 radio

Get yourself one of these FM Modulators. They're $25, and work very well! When you switch the modulator on, it interrupts your FM antenna and inserts an FM Stereo signal at 87.9 or 88.3 MHz, you simply tune your FM radio to the frequency of the modulator and you receive your XM unit or whatever oth...

This is sad but true. Those Chinese parts are mostly worthless. I guess they didn't expect the carburetor parts to ever come in contact with gasoline. :o

Re: Alternator not charging

It seems pretty certain you have an alternator problem. It could be as simple as the brushes worn down or stuck. The alternators are not too hard to remove. If you have an alternator repair shop locally, you could take it to them to have it checked and repaired. If you are mechanically inclined it w...

That is some good advice.
You have a really good looking motorcycle. I have always liked that color combo. My previous GL1200L was that color. I used to get a lot of comments about how it looked.

Re: CORNERING LIGHTS / DRIVE LIGHTS

I also put those lights that DenverWinger linked to on my Goldwing. They look good and are very bright to oncoming traffic to help you be seen. The color of these lights match the color of their LED headlights that I also installed at the same time. Well actually, I used the 25 watt version of the p...

Re: Replacing bulbs in trunk side lights

Do you already have lights in the trunk sides? If not, you can add them with these from Cyclemax. https://cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/gl1500_trunk_reflector_light_kit/313 If you already have them, I think these are the ones to replace burned out bulbs. https://cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/gl1500_replacemen...

Help! I’m either blind, or I just haven’t stumbled across it yet. What is the part number for these bulbs? I can’t see them on any parts fiche I’ve looked at. Thanks!

Here is a vacuum diagram I picked up somewhere along the way. It has red lines showing how the hoses are connected. This might help you find out where your hose connects.

Re: Neutral safety switch?

You can try cleaning the contacts on the switch that the lever operates. You will need to remove the reverse lever and the tupperware panel that covers the switch. After you get to the switch, you can just spray it with some contact cleaner and operate it a few times. That might be enough to get it ...

Re: '00 1500 SE with rear speakers and no CB/fader

The fader control on the 2000 SE model will be on the control knobs on the left handlebar. It is on the end of the enclosure that holds the CB channel control switches and the lever to key the mike. Here is a picture of it on mine.

Re: Of Floorboards and Linked Brakes

First thing I did when I got my GL1500 was to take the floorboards off and put a set of OEM pegs back on. Same here. Those floorboards were dragging in even a modest turn. Also as stated, using the rear brake seemed dangerous with having to move your foot off the floorboard and raise it up to get i...

Re: Alternator problems

No that is not normal. It should read higher voltage at 2000 rpm. Somewhere around 13.8-14.0 volts. It sounds like your alternator is not charging. Take the side covers off on the left side and remove the rubber cover over the output terminal coming from your alternator. Read the voltage there and s...

Re: Electrical problem...Blinkin' lights

You might try swapping out the #3 tail main relay with another one, maybe the air pump or headlight relay.
Edit: On second thought, don't use a headlight relay. You don't want them going out. Use the air pump relay to test it.
