Re: LCD clock

No, I didn't read it the way your just described. I did not understand that it was not off when the ignition switch was off. There is no relay feeding that circuit. It comes from the ignition switch to the 10 amp ACC Fuse then on to the LCD, hazard flasher relay, air pump relay, radio and CB. Does a...

Re: LCD clock

The LCD will have power to it when the ignition switch is in On, Acc or Park. The only time it is off is when the switch is in the off position.

Re: Passengers storage compartments

I had one of mine break off. So in a pinch I drilled tiny holes on each side and looped a wire through and twisted the ends. I figured I'd get around to replacing it. Well it's been like that for 2 years now, still opens and closes fine. And unless you really look or I point it out, you never even ...

Re: How to bleed or flush your clutch

I see where someone a long while back had asked if the Speedbleeders http://www.speedbleeder.com/ would work on the clutch as well as on the brakes for bleeding. I have them on both my 1500s for bleeding both the clutch and the brakes and they work just fine. Makes it a one man job for either the cl...

Re: Broken Trunk Latch. Any suggestions on a fix?

Here is some info that might be a fix for both of you on the trunk latches. One is an email address of a guy who used to, and possibly still does, make some metal ones to replace the plastic ones that Honda put there. popawheeliey@gmail.com Here is a link to how Mr Magic Fingers fixed his broken lat...

Re: Starter issue

As my daddy used to tell me, "son if you're going to play, you have to pay". :D
Seriously, if I needed a starter relay, I would get one from Honda. They are made to take the hard service they will have to endure. The cheaper ones, if they work at all, might not last very long. Just my opinion.

Re: Battery / starter / buzziing and clicking

A few years ago, I was getting ready to go on a weekend trip with a couple of riding buddies. I went out to start my bike and it would only click. What the heck? I had just unplugged the Battery Tender and the green light was shining steady on it. I called one of my buddies and asked him to stop by ...

Re: How to test loss of power to fuel pump

Here is a link to how to replace the fuel pump with an after market pump. Reason being the original equipment pumps are pretty expensive but also very reliable. Anyway it has a lot of detail about how to do it as well as some good pictures.

Re: tech talk

It is a pretty simple job to remove the heel/toe monkey motion and put the oem shifter arm back on. You will need the original foot pegs also if you don't already have them. You just take all the floor boards and shifter arms, etc off. Then you can put the shifter arm back on the shaft. Need to be c...

Re: How to test loss of power to fuel pump

The big wire toward the front with a single wire going to a connector is the +battery lead. I believe it is labeled "B". The wiring diagram shows it to be a blue wire but it looks black to me. Just pull that wire off the connector and jumper +12 volts to the terminal and your pump should run. It is ...

Did you put a voltmeter on the battery terminals and see what it reads while trying to start the bike?
Results?

Re: Start a stripped GL

You should be able to start the bike with the air cleaner assembly removed. It will be noisier because of the hoses disconnected but it will run and you might be able to see where it is leaking. There is not much room to see very well even with the air cleaner removed. A good bet would be the float ...

Re: starter

That is kind of a weird problem. It sounds like maybe your starter button is stuck. There is a 5 amp fuse in a rubber boot to the left side of the battery. It will have a red and yellow/red wire going to it. Pull that fuse then reconnect the battery cable and see if it still runs the starter. If not...

Re: 1994 GL1500 Aspencade No start condition

Some things to check: 1. Look for loose or corroded battery terminals. 2. Measure voltage at the battery terminals while you try to start it. Shouldn't drop below about 11 volts or so. 3. Check the ground wire from the battery to the frame for looseness or corrosion. 4. Be sure the 30 amp main fuse ...

Re: Gear display

No, it is not a problem. You should take a reading at the battery with a good voltmeter and then see what your voltmeter/gear indicator reads. Then you will know how much difference there is between what it shows and the actual voltage at the battery. You will know what it normally reads and, if the...

I think that is designed to plug into the connector for the side lights in the fairing. Yes, you will read about a half volt lower than at the battery.

I would start by checking the battery terminals for looseness or corrosion. Also check the 30 amp main dogbone fuse there by the starter solenoid. They sometimes will look good but if you touch them it falls apart.

Re: Tire choices for my 1500

I don't know why you are having that trouble with the Avon. Mine run smooth as silk at any speed I want to ride. Is there a knot or other deformity on the tire? Is the bead seated all the way around the tire? It has to be some defect in that tire or possibly the rim.
