Re: cruise control

Your right ,would a bad kill switch cause the cruise not to work, the kill switch was bypassed , i use the key for on and off No, the kill switch is not the problem. If you will follow the flow chart in the link that WingAdmin posted, you should find the problem. The usual culprit is one of the swi...

Heavily loaded GLs may require more frequent lubrication.” " I don't think I'm familiar with these items. Could someone point me in the correct directi...

Re: O-Ring

Here is some more information about lubing the drive splines and flange pins. This was from some information from Honda that Stu Oltman got and passed it along. It seems we are NOT to put the Moly lube on the 5 pin flanges even though they left it in the service manual, apparently in error. ********...

Re: New fuel pump not working, 94 1500 esp

The pulse generator in the fiche at Partzilla.com shows it to be $78.48 plus shipping. It seems the dealer that has your bike is doing a lot of guesswork at your expense. The pulse generator is item #19 in this fiche. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/1994/gl1500a-a-gold-wing-aspenc...

Actually, I have never replaced the ones on my bike. It doesn't look like it would be hard to do. Here is a link to a how-to on removing the rear wheel which has some pictures of those o-rings and where they are located. It might be of some help to you. Go to item #39 in this link and you will see t...

You can find them on the Cyclemax site also but you have to look in the OEM section. They have the fiche there for all the parts. Also Western Honda is a good place to find your OEM parts.

If it was my bike I would leave the two wires on the kill switch connected permanently. I have been riding motorcycles for nearly 45 years and have never used the kill switch... at least not intentionally! I have accidentally moved it to the off position a few times and had a few minutes trying to f...

Re: Help with helmet headsets, please!

I've been using J&M headsets for many years and have never had a microphone go bad on me, ever. That said, I always have full-face helmets, I don't know if the microphones hanging out in the wind on open-face helmets fare worse. I will echo WingAdmin's experience with the J&M headsets. I have been ...

Re: First ride with the wife, broke down 5 miles from home

What happened is you had the meter configured to read amperage and put it directly across the battery terminals. That is when you either blew the fuse or burned up the meter completely. Put another fuse in there and try it. You might get lucky and it will work. Otherwise, you will need a new meter a...

Re: What is this?

That is a fuel petcock. It shuts off the fuel to the carbs when the engine is not running. There is a vacuum hose connected to it that opens the valve when the engine is turning over and that opens the valve for fuel to get to the carbs.

When I replaced the windshield on my 94, the screws were very tight and I could not get them loose with a screwdriver. I was afraid I would strip out the head as you have done. I was able to break mine loose by getting some vice grips on the head and it popped loose, then I could finish removing the...

Looks like it might be a drain hose for the gas filler tray. Look under the tray for a nipple to hook it to.

Re: 1988,1500 Hit start, click and everything goes out?

I would take a voltmeter and put it on the battery terminals... not the cables but the battery terminals. Try to start it and see what the voltmeter reads. If it is low voltage then you need a battery. If the voltage is normal there then start checking the battery connections for looseness or corros...

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

Your engine temp sounds normal to me. It is not getting any air flow through the radiators with it sitting on the center stand. It will likely heat up a little past half way until the fans come on then it will cool down enough for them to go off if everything is working right. Riding down the road, ...

When he comes to a stop he should move forward on the seat toward the narrower part. That will help him reach the ground easier. Did the people that worked on his seat cut it down narrower at the front? That will let him get his legs closer together and therefore able to reach the ground easier.

Re: black dash trim treatment

I have been using the 303 Aerospace Protectant on my dash and other black plastics on the bike. It does a good job of restoring the black color and gives it a light shine. I like the way it makes the trim look. I got mine at Walmart but Amazon and a lot of other places have it.
