Re: Rebuilding GL1500 Engine

Hey Ernest, here is an idea you might look into on the vacuum pistons. If you are concerned about the rubber diaphragms maybe take a look at just replacing those diaphragms. Go to this website and consider maybe replacing the old ones with these. According to what I see, the correct part # for the G...

If you want genuine Honda parts, here is a link to one place you can get them. As you can see, they are not cheap though. It is item 17 in this parts fiche and is $129.17 plus shipping. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/1996/gl1500a-a-gold-wing-aspencade/carburetor-components Anothe...

Re: Speedometer

If you take it apart to clean and lube, inspect the gear for wear. If it is worn, I would replace it while you have it out in your hands. I just used some wheel bearing grease on the gear and then installed it and put some more grease around it. If you need a new gear, here is one place to get it. h...

front right brake is connected to rear brake lever, may have to bleed front caliper
That is true for your GL1200 but the 1500 is the opposite. Left front caliper is linked to the rear brake.

Re: Radial shinko sidewall cracks

I had the sidewall give out on the rear tire on my GL1000 many years ago, forget the brand of the tire. A buddy of mine and I were out riding, and decided to stop for lunch. When we came out I found the rear tire (tube-type) on the 1000 was flat....snip Local Police officer came by, and being helpf...

The green wire that MikeB is referring to is the one I was thinking of also. It attached under one of the screws the holds the radio to the plastic cover and the other end goes to the CB radio.

Well it is good to see a happy ending to the problem. The engineers who designed where to put that fuse box never envisioned anyone having to replace relays or that fuse. 😮

Re: brake bleeding lots of air

Have you tried bleeding the rear caliper? You didn't say what you are working on but, if it is a 99 Goldwing, the left front and the rear calipers are linked in the braking system and both operate when you use the brake pedal.

Re: Stock Radio Removal and Dash Display

I think your problem, as Denver Winger already said, is the #13 fuse in the relay box. That box is next to the fuse box behind the saddle bag. That saddle bag will have to be loosened up enough the move it out so you can get the cover off that relay box. From your description, that fuse is definitel...

I don't see any specs on the water pump bolts but they are 6mm and the manual says the standard torque value should be 7 ft/lbs for that size bolt.

Re: Memphis Shade Windshield

My 2000 GL1500SE had a Tulsa Tall on it when I got it. I hated that thing. Almost every time I got on it I would bump my helmet against it. It blocked the wind from me just fine, and I liked that part, but I just couldn't tolerate that thing leaning back so far into my space.

It sounds to me like the return hole in the clutch master cylinder is blocked with some crud from the old fluid that has been sitting in there for many years. Remove most of the fluid from the master cylinder and down in the bottom is a small cover over the return hole. Remove the cover and take a v...

Regarding the connection of the relay that you mention in the fairing, do you or anyone else have any photos of that area? or any copy taken from the manual, I will appreciate your comments. Thank you... I think this is the pictures you are asking for. You cut the green wire in the harness going to...

Re: Headlight and foot brake light not working

Is the headlight inoperative on both high and low beams or just one of them? If both, then see if it comes on when you move the reverse lever up to reverse. Let us know what the results are from that. For the brake light, it is likely the foot brake switch. It is down by the foot brake pedal. You mi...
