Re: Rear air shock bolt removal

Tried a number of suggested solutions, but no joy. Much of the issue is working inches off the floor, plus those things which simply get in the way. So, opted to remove the bevel drive and, of course the shaft. Dealing with the problem will be better in a friend's workshop. He has the tools and mac...

I put these in my 1500 and loved them. Not so much as a driving light but you can definitely see it better. https://www.cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/50_watt_led_replacement_cornering_light_bulb/83/270155 I also add these positions lights. https://www.cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/gl1500_position_light_repla...

He was probably on C54. It is a white 4 pin connector near the ECU that has the wires going to the coils in it.

Re: Aux input for the cassette deck ??? HELP!

I modified the radio on my 1994 1500SE using this link as a guide. It all went well with no problem finding the places to connect the aux input. This uses a relay to switch between radio and aux input instead of the cassette input like some of them are doing.

Re: Radio mute by itself...

That reminds me of one time I was riding with a buddy and he said his radio kept going off for a few seconds. He commented that that radio station must have a problem. Later he noticed that his CB was on but the volume was turned down. Every time the CB would receive a transmission it would mute the...

Thanks..............now I don't feel so bad...............cruising RPM was around 3500 - 4000...........my V-Max gets better mileage and I push it right along...........probably won't be slowing down to 55 MPH unless being tailed by law enforcement in a 55 MPH zone........... not that I'm an unlawf...

Re: 1500 won't start after juming battery

I agree with Bluewaterhooker that Cyclemax is a good place to get parts for your Goldwing. I bought one of the petcock kits from them several years ago and it has been working fine ever since. In fact, I have bought a lot of stuff from Cyclmax over the years and I have been pleased with all of it......

Yes, welcome to this forum. You will find a lot of friendly folks here that are willing to help you if you find yourself in need. That is a pretty bike you have and appears to be in excellent condition. I believe that is the same color as my 1994 SE which is Pearl Bermuda Green. You don't see many t...

Perhaps the last 6 digits of the VIN. It's for sure that Mr. Honda didn't put them there.

Re: Resurrecting Grandpa's Wing

I used some "Gorilla Glue" to hold my grips on. It seems to work very well. Be careful to cover any bike parts that the glue might drip on when you shove them back on the bars.

Re: Engine Dying At Cruising Speed

While you are waiting for the rebuild kit, why don't you take the fuel cap off and soak it in some Seafoam or maybe some vinegar overnight? You will probably get some crud out of the cap.

Re: throttle response

It sounds like your bike is running like it should. Mine drops rpm quickly when releasing the throttle. If I am riding down the road with the cruise control set and then disable it by pulling in slightly on the clutch lever, it slows instantly. Ouch, too bad about the coolant leak on the carbs. Thos...

Re: gl1500A no start

My first check would be the inline fuse B. It is near the battery and covered with a rubber sleeve. It is a 5 amp fuse and if it is blown the other starter relay will not function.

I don't think those tints are very dark so you should be ok. Why don't you PM CrystalPistol and ask him if he knows. He is familiar with the laws in VA.

Re: Oil Leak

Here is a link to a how-to article on this website for replacing the shifter shaft seal. It is a pretty common item to cause an oil leak on the Goldwings. Your local Honda dealer should have them in stock or there are multiple places on the internet to get them. Cyclemax is one of my favorite places...

Re: Oil Leak

That oil leak is likely the shifter shaft seal as was mentioned. I would clean off the caliper good and spray it with some brake cleaner to get all the brake fluid off. Then press on the rear brake pedal and see if any new fluid appears. That left front caliper is operated by the rear brake pedal. I...

Re: Gas Leaking Around Gas Cap

It could very well be leaking from the fuel petcock. It is vacuum operated and has a rubber diaphragm inside that is prone to developing a leak sometimes. It is the unit right in front of the gas cap that has the gas lines going to it. If it is what is leaking, you can purchase a rebuild kit to repa...

Re: Changing sub filter

Same here. My filter turned to dust when I touched it trying to remove it from the housing. I'm sure mine was the original when I replaced it and the bike was about 16 years old at the time. That is the way a lot of folks on here have found that filter when they replaced it.

Re: Gas Mileage Seems Low

I've been giving her some throttle but nothing compared to how I ride the Magna. I'm still trying to get used to getting up and off the line without being all herky-jerky and redlining. I'm so used to a 9500 redline and this 5500 is killing me. I think I see why your gas mileage is suffering!...
