Re: Position Lights (beside the headlights) not working

That clears up a lot of things. 🧐 I am not sure and will have to check the side stand and instrament lights. I have not noticed because I've been in the garage with the door open lights on and sun shining in. I "think" the side stand light lit up but I have not used it so I'm not sure. I will have ...

Re: Position Lights (beside the headlights) not working

Try swapping the #5 Air Pump relay with the #3 Tail/Main relay and see what happens.

Another option is an electric fuel valve. Here is an example of one place to get one.

Re: Gl1500 reverse gear problem

I have never pulled the engine from a GL1500, so all I can tell you is what is in the Honda service manual. It says the carbs have to come out along with a bunch of other stuff. Do you have the Honda Service Manual? it would be very useful when trying to remove the engine.

Re: Gl1500 reverse gear problem

Ok. i have had a good look at it, and everything seems to be doing its job, Down so far as placing my hand on the starter ,while operating the reverse, and i can feel and hear the starter working. IT feels like, that some gear being used for reverse, is not engaging with the starter, is there a ben...

Re: Gl1500 reverse gear problem

It could be that the reverse cables are out of adjustment or maybe one is broken. Here is the service manual page that tells how to adjust them.

It is refreshing to hear of a business that will stand behind their work and give you great customer service. All too often all we get is poor customer service and/or shoddy work with overpricing.

Re: Fuel Pump failure

I will have to check that this morning as I will try and get an inline connector so I can connect both fuel lines and by pass the petcock and then see if fuel flows from the outlet when I disconnect it first . Thanks so much. I really appreciate everyone's input and ideas to try and help me figure ...

When I took mine out the sub air filter was just like the one pictured. It turned to dust when touched. The cruise filter wasn't too bad but it got changed anyway.

Re: Fuel Pump failure

To bypass the fuel petcock, just remove the fuel line from the output of the fuel filter. Then remove the fuel line from the petcock that goes back toward the carbs and connect it to the output of the fuel filter. That lets the fuel flow from the filter straight to the carbs. Re: 94 gl 1500i fuel pump

It has been mentioned a few times already, your fuel pump is working as designed. Forget what ebay says, they are wrong. That fuel pump only gets power when you are pushing the starter button and when it starts it will keep the power to it as long as the bike is running.

Re: A new method of demounting and remounting tires on rims

A guy over on the goldwingfacts.com forum (crystalpistol) used some Airsoft BBs in his motorcycle and trike tires with excellent results. He said they worked great and he would vacuum them out when he replaced the tires and rinse and dry them then used again. Here is a link to one of his posts where...

First off, I have never done this before. The Honda service manual makes no mention of putting anything on there to hold the new gasket. Maybe someone with some experience with removing the clutch cover will come along with an answer.

Re: reverse lever

That pin can also get bent if forced at some time. That is my first thought also. That pin can get bent if the lever is not pulled out far enough, or at all, and then pulling on the lever to get it in reverse. It is a fairly small pin and can be easily damaged if someone not familiar with how it op...

It looks to me like they are all interchangeable. According to the Partzilla parts diagram, it shows that part will work in every GL1500 from 1990-2000. Look at the right side of the page in this link.

Re: Power loss and idle hunting issues

Well Matt, from your description, it sure sounds like those carbs are going to have to come out for a good cleaning. I had to do that about 3 years ago on a 94 model that was leaking around the fuel bowl gaskets. It is not fun but it is rewarding when you get through and she starts up and runs well....

I'm just curious why you need more low end torque for the 1500. In stock form it has gobs of low end torque. To answer your question, I have never heard of any place to get a different cam for the 1500.

The speedometer on my GL1500 is the most accurate speedometer I had ever had on a motorcycle. It is pretty much dead on with my GPS speeds.

Re: Gl1500 stuck motor. Can I remove heads in-frame?

I don't understand your question Mike. The heads are not attached to the pistons. How could the pistons being stuck keep you from removing the heads? Another option to try to turn the motor over is to put it in 5th gear and try to turn the rear tire. Edit: I see Andy beat me to the suggestion to pu...
