Re: Brake bleeder screw replacement.

I'm a long time fan of the speed bleeders also. They make bleeding the brakes or clutch a simple one person job. Quick and easy using the speed bleeders along with the bag makes it a no mess job too.

Re: 2000 gl1500 draining battery after sitting several days

Since you said this is a trike, it may be that someone has tapped into the trunk light circuit. It is on the back where it likely could have been messed with while installing the trike. I would try disconnecting the C89 connector under the rear of the seat. It is a 2 pin red connector that carries t...

Re: Extra Fuel Tank

Sorry for all your health issues CrystalPistol. I hope you can improve some more so you can continue to ride a while longer. It is tough to think about having to give up riding. I am getting to the age where I am going to have to give it up soon enough also. I already cannot ride much due to my wife...

Re: VOLTAGE DROP AT 2000 rpm

GL1500 is redlined at 5,500, so I'm guessing you reved it some higher than that? Reads like that "lactrical" didn't like it. I missed a gear once in a car I was dogging at the strip, amp-meter showed no charge afterward … opened hood for a look … had some copper wires hanging out of alternator open...

Re: bike starts and runs ok lights work but most accessories do not

A few years ago, I went to start my car and I heard a pop from under the hood and then no electrical power at all. I raised the hood and found the top of my battery had been blown off, and of course, a bunch of acid splattered all over. Apparently something had shorted out inside the battery and whe...

Re: Alternator 1500 goldwing 1988

I replaced my 40 amp stock alternator off my 1989 1500 years ago . The original 40 amp alternator worked fine when I pulled it but I sent it to an alternator shop and had it rebuilt anyway. Its been sitting on the shelf as a spare ever since. If you want it, let me know. You pay shipping and its yo...

Re: Fuel Gauge etc., etc.

Kerry, you said your fuel gauge worked before you replaced the lamps. You may not have gotten the connectors seated properly behind the instrument panel when you put it back together. The fuel sender wiring goes through a couple of those connectors, so I would advise you to take it back out and chec...

Re: Help !!!! Brake line not bleeding.

You could be sucking air in from the bleeder valve by the threads. You might try putting some grease on the threads of the bleeder and see if that helps. Otherwise, I would go with the reverse bleeding as suggested.

Re: Gear indicator manufacturer

Hey Pistol, you mentioned that your overdrive light is out. Well so is mine. I didn't notice it for a while but I haven't missed it since I refer to the Air Rider gear indicator to check if I am in overdrive anyway. Do you know if that light can be accessed without pulling the dash apart? Maybe it c...

Re: Gear indicator manufacturer

Ok. So it was/is a complete plug and play in the harness ehind the right fairing, correct? No speed sensor involved? Correct. It is plug and play for the gear position part. You connect the wire for the voltage reading to any point available that has battery voltage. I connected mine to the Accesso...

Re: Removing GL1500 fairing

Actually, there are connectors over the top of both of the fans. Getting them out is hard but putting them back in is even harder. Not much room to work there and they are in a really tight place. I found that putting something thin, like a putty knife or even a piece of plastic for a notebook divid...

Re: Gear indicator manufacturer

I don't know what the part # for the Air Rider gear indicator/voltmeter is for the one I have. It was on the bike when I got it. It looks like it would get its information on which gear you are in from the connector C59. It is a black 6 pin connector over the right side fan. Here are some pictures o...

Re: Gear indicator manufacturer

I have a gear indicator/voltmeter on mine that says Air Rider on it. I like it a lot but they do not make them anymore. Is this the one you are referring to? It mounts on the cover by the ignition switch in the place where an emblem was.

Re: My 1500 wont start!!!

I would second the idea of replacing that relay. Also, while you have it out, take a look at the contacts where it plugs in and see if there is any corrosion or overheating apparent.

Re: My 1500 wont start!!!

Well I see that no one has responded to your question so I will take a shot. First thing I would check is the kill switch (run/stop switch). Sometimes the screws can get loose and cause a poor connection. If that is good, check or swap the ignition/cruise relay with a known good one.

Re: GL1500 Carb/Manifold Screwdriver Shank Length?

I think you are trying to loosen the screws on the rubber isolators connecting the carbs to the intake manifold. I got a set of two screwdrivers, a slotted and a phillips, from Harbor Freight that worked well for me when I removed the carbs. They are extra long and more than enough for the job but t...

How precise does this need to be?
That is not a critical level. You can adjust it up or down to tune how you like the way it rides.

Re: Need Carburetor help!!!!

I agree that the OEM needles are way better than anything else you get from aftermarket suppliers. If your original needles are bad, the only thing to replace them with is the ones from Honda. Randakks sells a good quality kit for the carbs if you need it, but of course you pay for quality.

Re: GL1500 Left Side Fairing Inner Cover removal help

I have had that lower panel off several times and I don't recall the CB being attached to the panel. I think it just goes in the opening in that panel and it should just pull away. If you have all the screws removed, you should be able to just pull it back from the CB. It has been a while since I ha...

That is some more pretty pics of the 1500. Looks like we started riding Goldwings about the same time (39 years for me). I got my 1st one (79 GL1000) in 1980 and have had at least one of all the versions except the 1800. This is my current ride.
