Re: 98SE New to me service checklist.
This is a post I made on which LEDs I installed in my instrument panel. It includes the part # for the bulbs I used from Superbrightleds.com. I just finished replacing the bulbs in my dash with LEDs and I am very pleased with the results. Here is a list of the bulbs I used and where they go in the i...

Re: First time skirt raiser
I helped my riding buddy change a rear tire on his 94 1500 by lifting up the whole rear of the motorcycle like that one time. You sure have great access to everything back there that needs service with it tilted over like that. Everything went very well until it was time to put it back in place. We ...

Re: GL1500 shift shaft stabilizer mod. No drilling.
I bought one from peppilepew and installed it on my 2000SE in May 2020. Total price including shipping and a shifter seal was $82. Amazing they are the same price 3 years later. It has worked flawlessly also. Love it.

It looks like you may have put some LED lighting in the instruments. That looks good. Nice job on the paint.

Re: Starting problem
Be sure you are using the Honda starter relays. Some of the aftermarket ones do not work right in the Goldwings. I am guessing you are using the Honda starter relays since you commented on the price. Also, be sure the battery has a full charge. A weak battery will cause some strange clicking sounds ...

Re: 96 ASP Wing - wiring and engine noise
That connector below the right pocket might be C72 (black 13 pin). There are a lot of instrument and dash lights going through that connector. Does the temp and fuel gauge work? They go through that connector. Also the neutral light has some wiring through there.

It looks to me that they are saying the minimum order quantity (MOQ) is one 20 foot container, not one tire.

Re: Accident looked like minor damage
Well, congratulations to you! It seems you have certainly dodged a very deadly bullet. That cam stopped in just the right position so that no internal parts started banging together and ruining your engine. Maybe you should go get some lotto tickets now. 😂 Regarding the turn signal housing, you migh...

Check the #3 fuse in the fuse box. It is the stop light 15 amp fuse. If that is good, swap the #2 stop light relay with another relay and see if that works.

Re: Relay Trouble ??
Hey Tom, I'm another happy 2000 GL1500 rider. I think your trouble is the ignition switch. I think one of the segments is not making good contact. Mine is doing the same thing sometimes. I too can get it working again by jigging the switch back and forth a time or two. I don't know if something can ...

Re: Voltage to Coils from ECU
Try disconnecting the C54 white connector and measure resistance from the side that goes to the coils. Put one lead on the blk/wht pin and the other lead on the other three in turn. You should see a low resistance on each one (just a few ohms). That will check the coils for continuity through the pr...

Yeah, what MikeB said! Check that kill switch. That bit me one time while out on a trip. I had been in a restaurant for lunch and when I came out to start the bike, it would not do anything. Lights came on but no start. Not even a grunt. I found the kill switch was moved to the off position so it wo...

Re: Time for new brake pads?
I agree with the above suggestions that you need to flush and replace the old brake fluid. Also while at the master cylinder, poke a small wire (1 piece from a wire brush works) through the tiny return hole in the master cylinder. It will be under a little tab that you can remove by popping it out w...

Re: Accident looked like minor damage
If you drove it home with that belt not turning the camshaft, you almost certainly have done some damage to the valves and/or the pistons. I could be wrong but it doesn't sound good to me that there could be no engine damage.

That tube with the o-rings on it is sold complete with the o-rings. I don't see the o-rings listed separately; it looks like they come with the tube. That part is about $38.00 at Partzilla plus the shipping. It is possible you could find something that would work at a parts supply place or maybe a h...

Randakk's carb kits are a great product and value for the money, but as you noted, they are out of stock now. I don't know of anywhere else to get a comparable kit for the 1500. The best you can do is order the oem parts piecemeal from Honda.

Re: Revival of a '96 Wing that has been sitting for 7 years.
Sorry Frank, if only it was that easy! If you have the official Honda service manual, look in section 5 for the cooling system. It has diagrams for the cooling system hoses, etc. When I did my carbs a couple months ago, I was able to get those hoses on and off rather easily, unlike the first time I ...

I have been using that very oil for many oil changes on my 1500 with no ill effects. Of course, I don't ride in anywhere near freezing temperatures either. There are many, many folks using this or similar diesel oils in their motorcycles.

I have links to a great tutorial on how to remove and clean those carbs. They are on Jim Martino's website. Apparently the security certificate has expired on his site and my browser says it might be unsafe to enter. I bypassed that warning and everything is ok. This has just happened recently becau...
