Re: Cruise control not working but both lights light up.

It seems to me like the trouble would be in the vacuum part of the cruise since the "cruise set" light comes on when you try to set the cruise. I am attaching a file I have that shows how to trouble shoot the cruise control system. I'm not sure where I got it but I have had it for several ...

Re: New ECM and Fuel Pump

Ok, I was just making sure you were not chasing a trouble that was not there. Sometimes it is easy to get off track. If you are sure the ECU is bad, proceed with either replacing it or try to repair it using the method in the link (https://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=72687#p72687) that wa...

Re: New ECM and Fuel Pump

You didn't say how you determined that the ECU was bad. Before condemning the ECU, make sure you have properly tested it for voltage at the input to the pump. There will not be any voltage to the fuel pump unless the starter is turning the engine over or it is running. Just turning the ignition swit...

Re: Best New Tires for a 99 Aspencade???

I've been using Avon tires for many years on the last few motorcycles I have owned. I just put an Avon Cobra on the front of my current GL1500. I have been getting 14-16 k miles on them and they seem to have good road adhesion and run quiet. I just got mine from J&P Cycles last week.

Re: How to replace your dash lights with LEDs

I just finished replacing the bulbs in my dash with LEDs and I am very pleased with the results. Here is a list of the bulbs I used and where they go in the instruments and indicator lights. GL1500 LED dash light replacement: superbrightled.com no longer have the WLED-series LED's but they have been...

Re: Duct select loose

Actually I have been in Fort Rucker, Alabama in 1997 during the summer time. I know how it is hot there, I remember I was leaving the car running with the AC on while shopping. But for the bike, the highway pegs will help more than the vents I think. Ok Erdeniz, then you know how hot it can get her...

Re: Duct select loose

On my bike, I have cancelled the function of that lever by removing the internal parts. And plugged the upper air line coming from the front head of the bike. Now both upper and lower vents provide hot air when I open the vents. I don't know anyone needed cold air for the knees or feet any time. Ap...

Re: Carburetor rings

The one in the last picture, that goes between the pump and carb bowl, is 1.9 x 2.8 for the 2000 model. I'm guessing it is the same for your 1989. The others do not show the size and are only sold in a gasket set.

Re: Please review my Alternator Troubleshooting logic

I found this information on another Goldwing website. I had read it before and looked it up. The Compufire is an automobile alternator with a different drive end on it to fit the Goldwing. The Compufire is a Delphi CS121 alternator intended for some Saturns. It has a special drive end casing and dri...

Re: Indicators stop working when driving ?

The 6 pin brown connector you are looking for (C90) is on the left side under the lower fairing. You will have to remove some tupperware to get access to it. It is in a row of connectors just above the left side fan. The third one from the left as you are looking at it with the lower fairing removed...

I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner but I know that a lot of folks use a Simple Green solution in their ultrasonic cleaner and say it works pretty well. Another tip I have seen is to put your small parts that you want cleaned in a zip lock bag with your favorite cleaner solution and drop it in the ta...

Re: New seat and/or cover for 99 Aspencade

These folks do a lot of modifying on motorcycle seats to improve rider comfort. I had some work done on my 1994 Goldwing seat a few years ago and was well pleased with the results. If you call them and tell them what you need, they can schedule a date for your work to be done. You send them your sea...

Re: GL1500 Cornering Lights

Those 50 watt LEDs in the cornering lights do help you be seen by oncoming traffic. It gives a triangular pattern from those lights and the headlights that is eye catching to those meeting you. Also, as DenverWinger mentioned, they help light up the sides of the road in front of you.

Re: Can someone suggest an AGM battery?

This is a link to the AGM battery I bought for my Goldwing 1500SE about 3 years ago and it still cranks it over just like new. I also keep mine on a battery tender when not out riding it. It is a Motocross YTX24HL-BS rated for 350 CCA. This battery is made by Yuasa, one of the world's largest makers...

Re: 1988 Honda Gold Wing 1500 ***New Member***

I'm not clear on what your picture of the carb parts represents. Did they send the shiny new one to replace the older dark one? They are different parts. The larger jet is the main jet and the smaller shiny one is the low speed or idle jet. That small one is the one that is more prone to get clogged...

Re: Heel & Toe Shifter/Floorboards - Should I???

I bought a 94 GL1500 a few years ago that had them on it when i got it. I liked the way they felt while riding but my biggest complaint for them was two fold. First, to use the foot brake, you had to raise your foot up off the floorboard to get to it. That was a safety issue for me. Second, they wou...

In addition to what has already been said about what to check next, I would like to offer this observation. Re: GL1500 One Accelerator Pump Nozzle Won't Squirt

Read through this thread about how someone was able to open up some stopped up accelerator pump tubes. Seems like this might work if it is just some gunk from gas setting in there too long. I don't know if you could get them open without pulling the carbs again but it would be worth a try. That woul...

Hey WildWilly, glad to hear the tool worked good for you to get the cable out of the saddle bag. However, I can't take credit for making that tool. I don't remember who posted that picture, but it seemed like such a good idea that I copied the photo so I could make myself one.

I had to make that decision last year, after not riding more than 2000 miles the previous year, in 2021 I found my skills had degraded, my enthusiasm had waned and my wife who at one time rode with me all the time, was no longer interested in riding. We made a trip from Florida to Texas in April of...

Yes, I feel your pain Scott. I have been feeling it is time for me to hang it up also. I have been riding motorcycles for about 48 years now, both dirt bikes and street bikes. Like you, I don't feel the fun anymore. I guess one of the main reasons the fun is gone is that my best friend and riding bu...
