Make sure you don't have the mic gain set real high, that may be a part of the problem?? I'd check with Sierra Electronics and see if they can help.....

When you turn the bars and it doesn't come on, did you check for power then? (without changing anything) Could be a broken wire making intermittent connection?

Re: Runs for 2 seconds
There is fuel in the bowls, not sure how much. When I loosen the drain screw fuel comes out. I saw a trick somewhere, take the drain screws out replace with a barbed hose fitting, attach clear hose to the barbed fitting, secure clear hose up along the side. This arrangement allows you to view the l...

All 1200 saddlebag models use the same part number 'Saddlebag Stay'. If you are looking for some you could try http://straightwings.com/ they are a good source of used parts, from my experience.

Re: 1983 GL1100 Brake flush gone bad - linked brake system

According to the instructions for the kit I bought, it keeps the red lenses, use acetone and a stiff brush to remove the silver paint. I wouldn't soak the lenses in acetone, just brush the silver off and rinse.

Timing belt idler(s). Try running it more, mine got quieter after about 200 miles. The other way is to replace them.
