Re: CB Ground Plane

I've got good SWR. IT is grounded real good. I was just asking a question that might affect getting more distance. I've even thought of making a plate to fit under the trunk with same dimensions as the trunk to give more reflective surface since the antennas are grounded to the same trunk brackets....

Re: MidWest Meet & Greet 15 - Aug 30-Sep 2, 2019; Harrison, AR

Wish I could have made this but I just got my 08 Wing. When and where is the 2020 M&G? for next summer the location has not been decided upon, we are having trouble finding a good location that fits our needs. the town of Harrison, AR is great, the motels there don't have the facilities we need. He...

Re: CB Ground Plane

Does anyone think that putting a steel strap in the trunk between the two antenna ground brackets would help increase the ground plane for the CB? It will improve the situation, but it won't be near as effective as a properly mount CB antenna with proper grounding. Do not use a steel strap, go to t...

I just noticed that there is a "Skip ahead" to go thru all of her performances. I got my biggest kick out of the Veteran's Hall where they were doing the Boogie Woogie, and the oldsters all got up on the floor and were dancing to the music. Saw a lot of smiling faces in the audience who could not da...

Re: oil pan warmer/heater?

If you switch to Rotella T6 5W40, your problem is solved. That is what I am using in my bike, shifts great, starts the same at 20* as it does at 80* I have watched the fuel light to see how long it takes to go out..... even at 20* it goes off nearly as quick as it does in the warmer temps. I always...

Re: Extra Fuel Tank

MPG calculations on a single tank of fuel can be quite misleading. was the bike always up on the center stand when filled, or was it on the side stand ? was the fuel always brought up to the top of the tank inside the filler neck? I use a cellphone app called "Fuelio" to record every fuel top, this ...

Re: bike starts and runs ok lights work but most accessories do not

First of all, you should never, ever, connect jumper cables to the battery on the bike last. Always connect from the hot battery. I am assuming from what you said, that this occurred? Goldwings have a static standby draw of a few milliAmps, and over a few weeks w/o the bike being ridden, the battery...

Re: wrong way wheel tire

I would pretty much, at this point, would just ignore it and be happy. a lot of 1500s and 1800s have "rear tires" mounted backwards on the front wheel. My '02 being one of those. The premise of the thought for doing that is, that if you have to grab a big handful of front brake, the sidewalls of the...

Re: Fuel Gauge etc., etc.

when you are ready to install the gauge. With an Empty Tank, pour in exactly 3.0 gallons of fuel. Now, reach in through the fuel pump opening with your right hand, towards the left front. Find the float arm, and move it up and down until you get a sense of where it should be for 1/2 tank reading on ...

yup, where is my old employer "Sears and Roebuck" ??

I was told "The Customer is Always Right", I worked in the TV Repair shop, ( yes, in OKC, OK the Sears store had an in house TV repair shop )

We gave away a lot of "repair work" back then, IIRC that was around 1964.

I too, lost the top stinger, if that is what you are talking about. Looked for a long time for one, finally just gave up and ordered the full antenna from Sierra Electronics. I have the 2002, and the cam chain is very noisy, makes a loud whine. in 114,000 miles it has not broken anything. I just ignore it. Popping Noise? Re: Started a home built Poorboy

just a word of caution on the aftermarket clamps.

you will need to check for seepage every spring after the cold winter months, and tighten them up just a bit.

the OEM spring clamps tend to keep getting tighter and tighter all on their own.

Re: Interchangeable Oil Filters for 1988 GL1500

don't recall if I got into this discussion or not, but I use this NAPA/Wix filter, it is the longer case so you get more filter media. fits just fine, does not hit anything. NAPA Gold 1358 it has the flats on the end of the case, so the regular Honda Oil wrench works good. 1800_Filter_Kit__1800_Filt...

Re: Engine Advice Please

some one has been running High Test, 91 octane or higher gas in that bike. very detrimental to Goldwings. If the compression is decent, just use regular 87 octane fuel with something to clean up the dirty carbon deposits. It will eventually clean up. I think that I would use MMO, "Marvel Mystery Oil...
