Re: First ride with the wife, broke down 5 miles from home

Just a follow up regarding jumping your bike battery from a running car or truck. Came across this on another forum. https://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-goldwing-technical-forum/663299-gl1500-5-amp-backup-fuse.html Followed this good link, and the term "amperage" was used to explain why the radi...

Just a follow up regarding jumping your bike battery from a running car or truck. Came across this on another forum. http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/?#/topics/663299 a shame that link is broken, but I can vouch that you do NOT want the starting vehicle's engine running. there will be a War of t...

Re: Having a real problem keeping my 92 1500 cc Gold Wing upright

I think that I have tried every possible way to ground a Goldwing... the 1st time was on a 1500 after having owned an '84 and '86, neither of those decided to go to sleep. Mesa, Arizona: the '94SE? I was backing out of my garage down a gentle slope into the street. this one time, I elected to back o...

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll put some padding where it need to be.

I saw one guy's UltraGuard half cover at a rally last year.

he got some of that leatherette stuff with flannel on the backside, and sewed that to the cover on the bottom side, made a super neat package.

YMMV,

but have two covers with holes in them....
the one on my current 1800 because I waited too long,

and on my '98SE, it did the same thing

Re: How to install Dyna Beads in your tires

This is an interesting DIY that I enjoyed reading. I have used the beads (I think they are the Dyna Bead brand), for several tires now I think starting with either my GL1100 or GL1500. A small HD shop I have used recommended them. I've found them to be very smooth. Before I sold the 1500 I had 18,5...

Re: A comparison between the 2018 and 2001 GoldWing

At the (severe) risk of oversimplification, I told my Honda dealership that my GL1500 was elephantine and my 2018 GL1800BD is a gazelle. I suppose I'm in a definite minority, but I would not have even considered the 2018 Wing had it not been downsized from previous model years. I traded a much belo...

Re: The Invisible Motorcycle

How does the Suzuki Burgman 400 compare in the Acceleration department? I am thinking about getting one to take with me in our Toy Hauler... the GL1800's weight of 950# upsets the RV's weight and balance so badly, that it causes the trailer to wig wag behind my truck, unless I use extreme measures t...

the problem I have with that form, is it does not preselect the representative for your state.

Re: Dyna Beads vs Counteract Balancing Beads

I was not aware that CounterAct was the first manufacturer of balancing beads... that is interesting, especially as Dyna Beads are the most popular sellers. I can appreciate that tires that would have a heavy texture could interfere with the beads operation, but, I added extra to my rear tire, used ...

Re: Ultragard Half Cover

a Word of Warning on the UltraGuard 1/2 cover. it does indeed fit nice and snug, I like that. But, you MUST put something over the antenna hinge points, or it will poke a hole thru the cover after about the 3rd time you use it. I am using Tennis balls cut about 2/3rds the way around. Other folks hav...

So, I hadn't seen anything on TWC-3, you add to your gasoline at each fill up?
it is an upper cylinder lubricant, no magic.
helps valve guides.
E-10 is a dry fuel, almost as bad a natural gas.

a bottle every other fillup should do nicely.
if I can find E-0, don't add anything.

Re: Regular or Premium

I ONLY use 87 and "prefer" non-ethanol If it is available. But, the MPG difference on the 1800 is so tiny, it is not worth the expense. 89 and 91? you are throwing good money after bad.... the 1800s will not ping on 87 unless something else is wrong, it is not the fuel grade. My 1800 has never had a...

Re: Dyna Beads vs Counteract Balancing Beads

To get critical about it, it depends on the profile of the tire involved. Extremely low profile tires that are very wide, have almost no sidewall: you can't use beads, and that is direct from the Dyna Beads website. That is because of the width, they must be Dynamically balanced or a "wobble effect"...

Re: Cost of a routine valve adjustment?

that shop uses "Book Rate" as nearly all mechanics do. that is the only way they can make any money and survive. we don't like it, but it is a fact of life. Bookrate at the shop across the street from me is $85/hour for straight labor. specific repairs, go by "the book listed rate" per the manufactu...

Re: Dyna Beads vs Counteract Balancing Beads

I have GIMP set to "auto rotate" so when I get thru with an image, it is always right side up.
