Re: How to install Dyna Beads in your tires

I used soap and water to seat the tire... about 5 minutes later, we carried it to the bench and set it up so the valve stem was on the bottom, looking up. aired it up to ~ 50 psi or so, until we heard and saw it go 'pop' onto the rim. The valve core was removed during all of this process. used the b...

Re: My Wing won't start.

It's a new battery, and I put my charger/jump starter on it and it did the same thing. I will probably do the ECM bypass. I am going to change timing belts just because I have it torn down to that point and for peace of mind. Clock shows 37K miles and the belts would probably be fine, but as I said...

Re: My Wing won't start.

as said, the 1500s are very Power Hungry during startup. 1st thing is to get an AGM battery. the timing belts are NOT the problem, if they were, the engine would be a pile of junk already. the Timing belts never align perfectly, they will be off about 1/2 tooth normally. Measure the battery during t...

Needed: RV/Campers to loan to COVID-19 Medical Personnel

I want to put in a recommendation here: IF, one of you lives in the states, USA... and you have an RV, or a camper, that can be set up in a RV park, or suitable place with sewer, electric, water, or at their home if they have 30 amp service available and space to park it...... And, IF, you would lik...

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

I have had the Mastad for about 2 years now. I don't worry about what I clean it with, nothing has ever caused it to haze. as I mentioned, I usually just lay a wet towel over it, let it soak, and wipe the bugs off. then I hit it with Lemon Pledge or the Honda stuff, whichever I find first when looki...

all of the "sane persons" are paying attention to Stay at Home.... we are, I'm 78 and when I first read of CV19 I became a hermit in our home. fortunately, we have six acres of grass and trees so I can get outside and exercise, pick up downed tree limbs, and mow the grass in between the spring rain ...

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

Well, I took my Wing out today for its maiden voyage this season and I am VERY pleased with the performance of the MadStad windshield! Love it! The bike performed great also. It should be noted I did the winterization as outlined in the “How To” articles from Wingadmin, as I have always done and th...

you will get as many answers as there are people. I joke about "just use the one that tastes the best", but really, any oil today that does NOT have Friction Modifiers in it will work just fine. but, since you asked, I prefer the Rotella synthetics in the proper weight range, they are available at W...

Re: Not riding? How do you keep yourself busy?

Nope, not the virus, but to be honest I would have probably rather had that. Instead I had scars from blood clots in my lungs removed. I really feel for those that can't breathe, now. Nothing like feeling you're being waterboarded to death. I really wasn't sure I would survive it. The feeling of wa...

Re: Not riding? How do you keep yourself busy?

Out of the hospital. So trading one kind of lockdown for another. I sure miss riding. hope that was not related to the CV19 stuff. I am pretty much doing what I do all winter anyway, at 78 I'm retired now 10+ years... I do a lot of book reading, on my Kindle Paperwhite, that helps pass a lot of tim...

I'm confined to our acreage, daughter won't let me out the driveway. she had to make a short grocery run, came back and said our little store was literally empty. a bread truck from Sara Lee has just left and the bread isle was full from top to bottom with Sara Lee. Drunks and Meth users have no respect for us, they are not capable of respect, and belong in jail for the rest of their life. I don't like that, because we have to pay for their room and board, I would prefer a hole to bury them in, end of expense to the public.

Interesting way of stating that, but please turn OFF that damn caps lock key, it is aggravating and impolite to use all caps on forums. That makes what you are saying Yelling At Us, and we have good ears, no need to yell. if you remove the seat, the power to the fuel pump is the black wire on the B+...

A local guy is selling his GL1800 with around 30k miles on it. Im a total noob when it comes to Goldwings. Ive mostly ridden Harleys. He is only asking $4800 . As far as i can tell its very well taken of. He just had it serviced and put a new windshield on it. Also it has had the frame inspected fo...

I prefer Elk Skin gloves, gives your hide a bit of protection is you go for a slide.
and makes it easier to use those foam grips, which I do NOT like.

this is cheap, and works great, have used it for decades http://www.homedepot.com/p/CRC-2-26-5-oz-Multi-Purpose-Lubricant-02004/100398344 Ohmmeters are not what you should use for fuses, turn the key on, test for Voltage do the headlights come on when you turn the key? if so, the right hand OFF/ON/O...

Re: Wrong Battery Boost Hook-Up, Now No NAV+

Sounds like a lot of your solid state devices died to protect the fuses. Very common on lots of things, these days. A lot of those battery maintainer plugs use the same color coding on both sides, so one side will always be wrong. You want the exposed pin on the bike side to be ground no matter the...

Re: Wrong Battery Boost Hook-Up, Now No NAV+

the Upside? you now know, that you can never trust wiring done by a Previous Owner, no matter how braggadocio they are. my 2002 had a ton of crazy PO installed wiring, and when I traced them out from end to end, all but one was pulled and thrown in the trash. that one? a fused +12 volts to go to the...

Re: Tying down to transport?

+1 but just a heads up it is recommended to not use the side stand as a prop or the center stand as you might end up damaging the frame. I tie the bike by the triple tree as stated using "good & strong" ratchet straps and nylon loops with no metal parts to damage the bike and a wheel chock to jeep ...

Re: 97 Goldwing quite / runs again

you need to put a Voltmeter on the battery while the engine is running at 2000 RPM or more. should be 14.3 Volts if the battery is charged. if it is reading in the 12 volt range, the charging system is in trouble, or the battery is old and needs to be replaced. the 1500s need at least 10.75 volts me...
