Does the trike have spoked wheels?

maybe you could design a lock like the gendarmes use for cars that have overstayed the parking meter?

Re: Apparent alternator drive gear whine?

Hi guys, after a long inaction in the forum, not due to my will, I'm back. I decided to reopen this post because having the same problem I solved it. it was a long and expensive job and it was caused by two different problems: one related to the alternator bearing radial ball and the other related ...

Re: Honda MOLY Grease

If you need spline (moly grease) and want the "best" product of this type.. locate a tube of TS-70 MOLY. I used it off-shore and remember it to this day as it being the lube of choice for BOP valves and similar extreme duty applications (deck collars, drill pipe, etc..) BTW, it is not cheap and has...

The resistance of a good stator is low, but not that low. Something like 1.5 ohm. Should read equal between all three wires, and as stated, no reading to ground.
Have you made that measurement?
I really would like to get an actual measured value to put into my documents.

Re: Engine swap - what else to do?

You can do a "leakage test" from any of the Yellow wires out of the stator to Frame Ground. There should NOT be any leakage there at all, that is, the Ohm Meter on Megohms should not even move. Totally Open Circuit to ground. Winding to Winding, they should all measure the same ohms... the exact amo...

Re: Anyone pulled a trailer?

AZgl1800, I forgot to add that the 2.25 tongue length funny felling may have been because of the design. A dual trailing swing arm. Ed that may have entered into the 'funny feeling'.... the long dual arms are not tied together solid, like my solid axle and two leaf springs. So, I guess we need to b...

Re: Engine swap - what else to do?

If the stator in the bike is good, why break something to fix what is not broken? Just be sure that all of the charging system connections are clean, free of corrosion. the 3 yellow wires should be cut and soldered together, get rid of that connector. the connector to the regulator is also suspect l...

Re: Why we're invisible to drivers

Precisely why I believe that the most effective safety device for the described scenario is a headlight modulator. Steady state headlights get lost that far away. There’s a reason that they are used on locomotives. I know some people find it annoying. I’ll tell them that it served it’s purpose if t...

Re: Why we're invisible to drivers

I've read that before. Unless a target is moving sideways across your vision, it just disappears. That is the reason that I have a swimming pool noodle lashed to my trunk, hanging to the left. That flopping that it does, gets people's attention. and, as I approach intersections, I weave from lane ed...

1.5 times the width of the axle is the minimum that I have found to work well.

2.0 times is even more stable.

Re: What's the funniest thing that ever happened to you with your Goldwing?

My funny ha ha event happened just a couple weeks ago. for medical reasons, the GL1800 has been sleeping in the shop since august of last year. In the mean while, I had purchased a Piaggio MP3 250cc scooter that uses only the hand grips for brakes. right grip, front brake just like normal. Left grip...

Re: slight vibration around 2400 rpm

the valve train is chain driven, and it makes noise, a lot of noise and the tappets are solid, not hydraulic. w/o my helmet, I can hear it, it is just the nature of the 1800. with my helmet, it is gone. Vibration? don't know that I paid much attention to it at a certain RPM. My bike has the Traxxion...

I don't like the Uni-wheel trailers, too easy to get the load unbalanced side to side. My wooden square box is only about six inches wider on each side than the bike, it has never been a problem, not one Gas Pump Island has ever complained about me abusing it  carry tools, spare battery, spar...

I have a Shoei Neotec Modular, and am using EdSet's Thunderclap speakers.

removed a bit of foam behind the speakers and velcro'd the speaker direct to helmet,
works fine.

Re: Engine Oil SAE 5W40

I've heard that the Rotella T6 now comes in two different flavors, one that we know and love, the other flavor won't be well liked by the clutch. So if you like T6, just be sure to confirm the JASO rating and the API donut on it to be sure you got the right one. I use T6 in 5w40 and the circle is b...

Never owned anything older than an '84 but, tire mileage is so subjective to individual use, where you live, the type of road surface, speeds you typically run at..... I spent most of my bike riding years in the greater southwest, roads straight as an arrow most of the time, speedlimits 65 to 85 and...
