Re: Garmin 396 LTM

I was very tempted to talk with you about your GPS, but alas, every vehicle I own has one already installed, and the 1800 has a Garmin 2797 with a 7 inch screen mounted permanently to the handlebars via RAM mounts. and it is wired direct to my Intercom so I can hear it with my helmet speakers... iYB...

Re: Correct Synthetic Oil Use

any of today's oils are good. I have two oil reports back from Blackstone Laboratories that were done on Valvoline and Mobil-1 on two sequential oil changes, each done one year from the last oil changes on a Pontiac Vibe. The Valvoline oil ran 15,575 miles on it, and the report stated that it is "no...

Rotella T6 5w40 is one of them.
I have been more pleased with the T6 than any other oil I have used in Goldwings, and that included the old Dino 15w40 that I used in my 94SE

Re: Got a free 2002 Gl1800 today!

Everyone has their preference on 'oils'....

I ended up with Rotella T6 5w40 and the shifting action is perfect with my 2002, it is young yet at 114,000 miles

Re: Correct Synthetic Oil Use

my 1800 is very happy with Rotella T6 in 5w40 the shifts are very smooth, several folks who have asked me, Flyone being one of those, have commented that his 1800 is shifting better than it ever has with any other oil. as for the oil filter, I have been using the NAPA 1358, which is their 'Gold' bra...

Re: 2000 gl1500 draining battery after sitting several days

Fuse #13 is in the Relay box next to the Fuse box labeled "Backup". This always-on Circuit supplies power to clock and radio preset memory among other things when the bike is off. I would normally expect to see only 50mA or so draw on this circuit. if the draw if 50 mA, that is about 5 times too mu...

If the Off/On/Off switch is 'ON', and the ignition is on, and the tranny is in neutral, the headlights should burn and the Dash Lights should be ON. does that happen? when you press the start button, the headlights go OFF/out. unless, the bike is modified like mine is, I have HID lowbeams controlled...

Re: 2000 gl1500 draining battery after sitting several days

It appears to me that the #13 Fuse is powered by the Main Fuse. What feeds the circuit is not really part of the problem I do not think. The problem is, I believe, whatever is taking power from the output side of the fuse. Once again, are you the original owner? How long has the problem been presen...

Re: No Ethanol Fuel

I agree, that if you are running thru tank after tank of fuel, E10 is not going to harm the carbs. it is the layover with no activity that causes the problems for Goldwings. for my 1800, which is EFI, it don't really matter, but if it does not have E-0, then I make it a point to use Stabil Marine 36...

stay away from the RAM X-Grip

great to hang helmet socks on to dry out, but the cellphone will land in your lap on a hard bump, like rough RR tracks.

Re: RAM Mount GDS Dock Handlebar Mount

I still have the RAM X-Grip on the left handlebar clutch mount. its' only purpose now, is a place to hang my helmet sock to dry out in between uses. spreading the helmet sock out over the X-grip allows it to dry in the length of time, it takes to go inside, drain my radiator, grab a bite to munch on...

my trunk lights are LED and use a Push Button that is "hidden" from normal view. in the daytime, I have pawed around in the trunk looking for stuff, and bumped that push button.... and not even notice that the Trunk lights are on... then one night, I was out in the shop looking for some bungee cords...

Re: Helmet Storage Idea - Helmet Hitch

my helmet has a unique spot to put it.

on top of the furniture blankets in the shop,
or on the top shelf of my clothes closet,
or sitting on the dash of my bike with the GPS holding it in place....

depends on where I am, and how long I will leave it in place.

well, glad you made it down. i guess these are like keeping up an old plane. so, in tracking down what might be draining the battery, i disconnected the starter & that seems ok, no drop in the miliamp draw. is it possible that the solenoid could be drawing the 9.98 miliamps that is showing on the v...
