Re: Poi not showing up on map

can't help with the bike's GPS, but with your cellphone, download Co-Pilot USA. that app will download the entire North American Continent in one fell swoop to the SDcard. or, you can select just one or more Regions. it is, by far, the best map app I have seen, it beats my Garmin 2797 ten ways from ...

Re: Can someone design a circuit for me

not sure, but there should be an Oil Pressure switch that closes to Ground. use a Relay and connect one side to the Accessory Terminal, and the other side to oil pressure switch terminal. Use the contacts on the relay that are OPEN with the key turned ON, to supply power to the headlights. this can ...

Re: How low is low MPG?

the only way people are going to get 40 mpg out of the 1500s is to never exceed speeds of 40 mph or so, and to stay off the throttle. I have owned two of them, and year end and year out, the AVERAGE for the year is 33 mpg. I have a spreadsheet that documents over 5,000 miles for a 98SE and that is e...

Re: Is it safe to do an oil flush?

adding some seafoam to your oil then riding about 100 miles before the oil change will do a good job of cleaning everything out. I can't remember the exact ratio but I think it is about an OZ per QT I would pay close attention to your oil for a while as milky indicates possible water contamination....

yeah,
now I will have to go search through all of my posts for the last umpteen years "and correct them".

Crazy! What an odd product to use to rip people off on Amazon. Doesn't Amazon have buyer protection? I don't think the seller could get away with this on ebay. It was not fully explained how Amazon got into the picture. The scammer requested that the buyer purchase "Amazon Gift cards" and email the...

Guarantee, that if you buy the Madstad, by the 2nd day out on the trip, you will have forgotten how much it cost.

It just has so much flexibility, whereas a solid one piece windscreen does not.

Re: 12” MadStad on 1999 GL1500

Get the 12 inch. It performs as advertised. A 14 inch would be too high and defeat the purpose of the reason you’re replacing the OEM windshield. I am 5' 11" and I chose the 14" and it gives me a range of 9" above the top of the dash, up to 12" above the top of the dash which is just right at my ey...

Re: Synthetic oil or non-synthetic

In light of where oil is typically used, I'll stick my neck out and say "don't worry". pc I usually like to joke, use the oil that "Tastes the best to you", because in truth, as long as, the bottom of the circle is blank, it just don't matter one whit if it is Quaker State, or Pennzoil, or Valvolin...

I've mentioned my story once or twice somewhere here. worked as a Communications Tech/Specialist ( whatever the companies wanted to call it ) gopher? did that from 1961 through Dec 2010, for two pipeline companies, one Middle/High School complex for a while, and then 18 years for a fire department i...

Re: Canyon Dancer Handlebar Cup tiedown helper

I have used this strap several times for my Goldwings. I would note that when I used it on a friends scooter, the friction lock handlebars lowered during transit from the stress. No problems, as I saw the change in my rear view mirror, definitely a consideration. my bike has risers on the handlebar...

Re: Synthetic oil or non-synthetic

I'm also curious about how friction modifiers adversely affect the performance of a wet clutch - is it a matter of permanent damage to surface of the clutch plates, or more of a temporary issue that can be resolved at the next oil change? Thanks in advance to who ever might be knowledgeable and hel...

I fasten it in place with 3M Dual Lock Fastening Tape which I buy by the roll. It's extremely strong, holds even heavy things very solidly in place, but you can remove them if you need to (to throw the tag in the trunk when parked, for instance) - and unlike velcro, it doesn't wear out over time. I...

well, yesterday I wrote up a long reply before anyone else had done so, but poof! it is gone to nowhere?? at this point, I can only reiterate what has already been said. my 2002 gl1800 was worth the $7,000 that I paid for it 3 years ago. Today? it might bring half of that if I am lucky. but I won't ...

Re: Synthetic oil or non-synthetic

Rotella T6 does not have any Friction Modifiers in it. and the pricing at Walmart is extremely favorable, almost half of Mobile-1 full synthetics are a good oil to be using, I have reports from Blackstone Laboratories proving that.... Re: Synthetic oil or non-synthetic

I purchased a Canadian 1986 GW Aspencade last fall, rode for a few hundred kms before winter storage. Now that spring has sprung in southern Ontario, I want to change the oil, the manual calls for anything from 10/30 to 20/50 depending on outside temperatures. Anyone out there using synthetic oil, ...

Re: Engine swap

the 1200s will work w/o too much effort. well, a lot of time will be involved, but the engines are nearly the same size. the 1500 is a flat six, and it at least does fit inside a frame and uses attachment points that you might be able to manage to work out. the SE models have Reverse. the 1800 is a ...

seeing how you stuck that to the windshield, and seeing that I have a Madstad windscreen since I got the transponder 12 years ago, I might move it up to the screen, then I could fly through the toll gates at 100 mph  that ought to earn me some Brownie Points  Here in Oklahoma, they ha...

How much different in terms of size and mounting points is a GL 1100 engine vs. an 1800? I have the 1100 in a homemade trike and would love to have the reverse gear in the 1800. unless you are building a trike from the ground up, and dispensing with the gl1100s frame, it is NOT going to fit, period...

on my 1800, it tried it in the side pockets, and unless I slowed down to about 10 mph, they never registered. so, I pulled a pocket out, and stuck it up against the front part of the fairing, and now they work okay. obviously, if stuck to the windshield like on a car, they would do better, but the T...

the 2006 thru 2017 can all use the same alternator, Honda loves to change part numbers for no damn good reason. I have a 2002 and initially intended to order a later year model, with more amperage, but in a dumb dumb moment, I ordered the 2002 year model from Partzilla.... guess it don't matter, I d...
