Re: Are onboard GPS units worth it?
I use a Garmin 595LM with updated maps, and Basecamp to create routes. I just returned home this Sunday after a four day trip to Scottsdale AZ for Arizona Bike week and the Lynard Skynard concert Saturday night. (Great show btw). The Garmin worked exceptionally well on the open road and 95% of the ...

Re: Are onboard GPS units worth it?
AZgl1800, Unless I'm missing something, the Garmin 2797 LMT is not weatherproof. I couldn't find anything that said it was. Did I miss something? Thanks. I have it mounted in the RAM Mount made for the 2797, but to be safe, I always thru a Gallon Zip baggie over it.... when I had the Tulsa Tall win...

Re: Rudy's GL1500 "Keeper" products
I've had more than a few people ask me where to buy these products. Unfortunately, Ric "Rudy", the creator of the various Keeper products, passed away a number of years ago from an aggressive cancer. He passed the business on, but that person was unable to keep it running. The idea is a g...

get a about 20 feet of clear tubing, hang it on a board, post, something. fill it with light oil about 2/3rd the way from the bottom of the loop, stay away from water. connect each end to a carb, and you can watch the levels in each side of the "U" loop to see the balance. no gauges requir...

Re: Goldwing start up smoke
if it sat on the Side Stand, what you have is normal and will go away after you ride it for a few minutes.
oil seeps into the low side cylinders, nothing to worry about unless it never stops.
only takes a small droplet to make a lot of smoke

Re: 3G shutdown - will it affect the Goldwing?
Fact of life, it just moves on. I had a Verizon Network Extender that I used for well over a Decade to provide service inside my home, it was on 3g then it just flat out quit..... I pissed and moaned for months, then called up Verizon and asked them why? well, it seems that they turned off 3g in Okl...

Re: Cordless Electric Impact Wrench Product Review (VIDEO)
My feeling is that the 440 lb.ft. is more related to breakaway torque than tightening torque. Either way, I'd use it for loosening only. Hand torqueing to fasten When I change tires on our car/truck, I use the Low Speed to put the lug nuts back on the wheels. go around twice to be sure the wheel is...

I bought a '98SE in 2006 that had been sitting for a year, maybe two? it was in Primo Condition appearance wise... but the carbs were in ill health. I poured a can of Sea Foam in the gas tank, left it on the Center Stand, and it idled for more than an hour. I repeated that every night for a week, th...

Re: Electric Impact Wrench Product Review
an Interesting looking model.
I have a Ryobi 18 volt One+ system 1/2 inch Impact Gun.
it easily handles all of the lug nuts on my truck and RV.
it has a 2 speed selector switch.
I like the lower speed that one has, but the Ryobi uses a smooth acting pressure slide/speed trigger....

from handlebar tip to tip, about 32 inches... an Interesting fact, my Piaggio MP3 scooter handlebar width is only 1/2 inch different. I had to trailer both of them last year to my son's home, side by side inside an enclosed trailer. The fit was so tight, that I could not use the side door, or get of...

I have not watched it yet. On the last NASR ride that I went to, I almost rode off the road into a ravine. I was too hot, and my brain quit thinking properly. at 78, I have ridden almost as much as I want to, but actually, the desire to ride is not there anymore for me. that ride was in June, 3 mont...

Re: Getting OFF the centrestand
been 3 decades since I owned that model bike, I don't recall how far off the ground the tire is, but doubt it's much more than a half inch. I have used the center stand on every Goldwing I owned, and that is '84, '86, '94, '98, 2002. I just stood on the pegs, leaned way back, and threw my body forwa...

My Garmin GPS has Bluetooth and a headphone jack. SENA will accept the GPS audio either as a hardwire to the Freewire aux input jack or via Bluetooth to the SRL headset. I tried both methods neither really got me excited though I didn't try very hard to improve the audio. I already owned one of the...

Re: 2 Embarrassing Questions
IIRC the GL1500 doesn't have any start up test type routine. Turn key, all lights on. Turn key, all lights and engine off. The starter button disables the headlight to reduce current draw while cranking the engine. My guess is that button is sticking or dirty. I would start with cleaning the handle...

Apple has finally released a fairly primitive app for Android phones https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apple.trackerdetect Only 29% of smartphones run iOS, according to StatCounter global stats. It's more important for Android users, who own 70% of the world's phones, to know that Ap...

Hello all, I have a motorcycle made in 2002. My motorcycle has never been used with a trailer and has never used like a tricycle. It traveled 140,000 km. Re: stripped thread at fuel pump repair quesiton
use the proper size drill, sometimes that comes with the Helicoils also.
do NOT drill any deeper than the existing threads go.
and the Helicoils often come with their own thread sealer to keep them from backing out.
Once repaired, every thing should work as before
