Re: Post E.M.P.; Will a GL1100 Still Start?

I'd disagree. In the movie I saw, the bad guys were able to disable most components in vehicles, including starters, alternators, CDI. About the only vehicle to survive and run was a Ford diesel engine 3/4 ton. The diesel engine uses a Ford diesel with a mechanical fuel pump. As long as you park on ...

Re: Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra Tire

You never answered my questions. Which tire is it, or is it ALL of them? I, for one, did not answer your question because I do not have an answer. I did regurgitate some information that I found on the site where I bought my tires. I also, like WingAdmin have read lots of detractions on ME880 and M...

Re: LIGHTS GOING CRAZY ON MY LEMON DCT! Help?

Being an intermittent problem causes a lot of time to be spent to even replicate the issue. Sounds like a heat related isssue in that the bike heats up, acts up, stalls, cools down, then restarts. Unless Honda USA authorizes the Dealership to do something, the bike will sit. With a Company like Hond...

Re: Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra Tire

You never answered my questions. Which tire is it, or is it ALL of them? Also, is it also their newest tire? Have you tried their newest tire? That ME888 was the best gripping, riding and wearing tire I've ever had on a heavyweight touring bike. I used that set of tires hard. Air temp's over 100 deg...

Re: LIGHTS GOING CRAZY ON MY LEMON DCT! Help?

I also have a 2018 Goldwing DCT Tour and several times at stops it is idling fine, but when I take off the engine and all power turns off. A few times I could not get it to restart. I never looked at the front lights so do not know if it flashes. Most of the time I can get it restarted after 30 sec...

Re: Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra Tire

I am kinda wondering about "Wing Admin's" post on the 888's. Were you talking about Metzelers newest tire, an older tire, or just ALL Metzeler's? My experience has been over the top positive! I went on four very aggressive tours on my 2006 Honda GL1800 Goldwing and they are very good tires. Got well...

Re: SoCalMotoGear Pathfinder LED Headlights - 2nd Generation

I am so very tired of being blinded by all manor of vehicles using new lights. It is like a lighthouse beam in my face, on low beam. On high beam, I usually get burnt! Most of the LED lights are terrible.

Re: Gold Wing tires

It just seemed funny that with all of the failures on motorcycles with motorcycle tires, as well as failures on Cars with car tires, that you'd see every once in awhile a failure of a car tire on a motorcycle. Also, I once asked someone what you would come upon if he drove a boat west across the Pac...

Re: Gold Wing tires

As usual, my cousin's bother's father-inlaw's uncle had a problem with these. No first hand information. For the most part those who express that ct's don't handle or are a danger have NO first hand knowledge and have not tried one. Darkside tire on the Dragon. I believe that most people don't repo...

@Rednax60- What have you gained, what have you lost going from an 1800 to a 1200? I'm meaning in regards to handling, power, luggage capacity, or anything that sticks out to you....and thanks for the nice post to my inflammatory post. I am just upset that only one side of this is seemingly being pre...

Re: Gold Wing tires

My issue comes from the deception and deceit from those who have had issues, including handling, blowouts, slides, etc., but choose to keep that hidden. Or know of others with issues and choose to not report it or say it was their fault for doing or not doing something. You're right though, not for ...

Re: Tires

I'm using the new and improved Metzeler ME888 tires front and rear. So far, REALLY GREAT! Mounted them before a trip into B.C.. Was hot and high speed twisties. Loved those tires there. Hit some rain, but they stuck well. Were very quiet as well. After that ride came a BIG trip to California. Record...

Re: Gold Wing tires

Who are you "Darkbrainers" trying to convince? A car tire on a bike? Of course you do it to save money. Otherwise why would you do it? Yes, bike tires are expensive. But, this means I can corner at a high rate of speed. Something that the CAR Tire people, the honest ones, anyway, admit to giving up....

I'm tired of cheap tools, so I looked at "Vessel" screwdrivers recently. Ordered one that is able to be hit with a hammer for extra turning torque, an Impact screwdriver!

Re: Suspension Upgrades

Thanks for the replies, guys! I am still kind of thinking about the Ohlins front fork mods. He said it would be quite expensive, though. For the front forks it'd be $1600.00, parts and labor. That'd get me 30 mm "NIX" cartridges, with full adjustability. Your ideas about rear suspension seems valid....

Re: Suspension Upgrades

Thanks for the response. Was it $1600.00 for parts and labor? Geez, why do you U.S. guys have nice 2 stroke bikes, and I can't find one? Still got the R6 hybrid mentioned? Would be cool. I remember in 1987 or 1988 when they couldn't sell them! A Honda shop was giving a NS400R and a set of nice Daine...

Geez, another Edmonton guy! I recently posted , looking for info on suspension. How much did it cost to have this work done. If you wouldn't mind sharing? Could you break it down, as I am more interested in the suspension work right now. I don't need to ask if you are happy at least!

Suspension Upgrades

I have recently bought a 2006 Goldwing. Though it has only 6500 k.m.'s on it, the suspension is "harsh" for lack of a better term. The front seems worse than the back. I have seen some of the posts on alternative suspension. I'd like to know if anyone could tell me the results of their modifying the...

All I know is what I know. I'd suggest to do your own homework on this serious subject. To be honest, I was not with the dude when the first incident happened. Saw the aftermath though. No, he didn't rub the swingarm though. Either time. Have a nice summer of riding!

That's your right too! The guy, who WILL remain nameless, was riding his 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700. It was a big machine w/ fairing and bags, a group of 5 of us was riding to Jasper, Ab.. July 2013, I believe.

DON'T DO IT!!!

 DON"T DO IT!!!!! Talk to someone who doesn't have anything to really gain from this. People using car tires want credibility more than anything. Most people see them as cheapskates who won't listen to reason. For me, after seeking advice from people in the tire industry, and the motorcycle in...
