Re: Transporting a Goldwing

I've had uship pick up bikes that I've sold. I wasn't impressed. One guy came with a pickup that had a toolbox in it. He loaded the bike with the front tire on top of the toolbox and strapped it down by the handlebars despite my objections. The uship drivers are independent contractors like Uber. If...

Make any audio device bluetooth Compatible

Hey everybody, I just learned something that I think can benefit many more of you out there. I've only been riding for a few years and since I live on a budget, I got the least expensive Bluetooth capable GPS I could find. A Garmin Nuvi 2597lmt with a 5" display and voice commands is what I ended up...

Re: The brand-new 2018 Goldwing?

Before anyone shuts down the idea of an automatic bike, go try one. I've ridden 60 bikes (and just bought the 60th one I've ridden). I feel the same about shifting gears on bikes as I do on cars: There's a time and a place where it is fun, and a time and place where it is just in the way and makes ...

Re: Heel and Toe shifting.....What do you have and prefer?

I have a heel and toe shifter on my Kawasaki VN1500 Classic and love it. The floorboards are well forward so it was hard to point my toe down to get under the shifter. They are far enough apart that I can rest my foot between them and barely touch each one, unlike some 'wing shifters I've seen that ...

half helmet bluetooth headsets?

Does anyone know of a good bluetooth intercom headset that will work with a half helmet? I've seen several that clip to the chin strap or hang like flaps over the ears, but I'm looking for one that has ear buds or something similar that will block outside noise better. I've only found one, the SENA ...

Re: 99 Aspencade RMP flux

I'm going to definitely try the starter fluid method and I've got a can of seafoam that I will use in the fuel tank. I also found this How-to article and video from a link on Youtube. Youtube also had a video from a guy who filmed his bike doing exactly what my bike is doing. His fix was a vacuum le...

99 Aspencade RPM flux

I bought my first wing in May and drove it for about three weeks before taking a nail to the rear tire. while I had the bike on the center stand I took the time to change the sub-air filter, cruise filter, fuel filter, rear brake pads, and cleaned the air filter. when I got the bike all back togethe...

Re: The Delights and Despairs of the Female Rider

I sat on a CTX700 once because I'm a new rider and was interested in the DCT. My kneecaps were even with the fairing wing sticking out from the side of the tank. I think they were made for small Japanese men or American women. Good luck finding gear, my wife has the same problem She's not quite as t...

Re: Honda's New GL1800: With Leading-Link Front Suspension

I know there is a lot of resistance to the idea of an automatic transmission but I would certainly be open to that option. It would be awesome for a trike also. I would be willing to bet the new GL will have some sort of dual clutch or power shift system (fingers crossed) I also would prefer not to...

Do you think Honda will ever incorporate their DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) in a Goldwing? Has anyone seen the NM4 that's on their website? It looks like Optimus Prime folded into a bike.

If I'm allowed..I'll add a little too....If not..by all means...delete this post... The common idea is the "red" wire is the "hot" wire....In DC electronics reality,, it is not... Re: Air intake critter blocker

This was posted in Member Pictures, but I would have thought that the holes in the wire would be large enough for a mouse to get through. I am unable to see how big the holes are, but they look big enough for mice to invade and take up, expecting free rent.[/color] The wires are about 5/16" apart.

Two things, we need to change the title of this thread, and I have the four inch binder with the owners manual/shop service manual. I'll browse that tomorrow to see if there are instructions for removing the air cleaner. I'll take photos too for a new DIY article if you think it needs to be done.

Re: engine running rough

The reason I was asking is because it does sound like a cylinder or two might not be running, and you could tell this by checking the temperature of the exhaust headers. If you had an unwanted tenant in there doing some damage to electrical wires, and you disturbed those wires by doing any work, it...

Re: Polishing Diamond Plate or Aluminum

There's another product that I've used on my '82 Honda CB900C. It's called NOXON and comes in a green bottle. I've only found it at Ace Hardware. It works great at polishing chrome and will remove any pitting or corrosion. I started detailing my 99 Aspencade with it and was amazed at how it removed ...

Re: Clutch and brake flush question

Because brake fluid attracts water/humidity, never re-use an opened bottle of brake/clutch fluid. It should always be a new sealed container that is used. It may be alright for a couple of days, but the best idea is that once you have done the job, get rid of the container and any of the contents t...

Re: Clutch and brake flush question

Is it running rough - i.e. are all cylinders firing? Check the exhaust headers coming from each cylinder and make sure they are all getting hot. Yes, it appears that all six headers are about the same temp after running for 5 minutes, just hot enough to be uncomfortable but no burned fingers. There...

Re: Clutch and brake flush question

Is the engine running rough/stalling when it is in gear and you are holding the clutch in, or is it doing it when the transmission is in neutral? I started it up after work today to do some investigating. When I started it, it ran semi-smooth for the first minute or so with the choke about 75% and ...

Re: Clutch and brake flush question

If the clutch is not working properly and not fully disengaged it will stall the engine at low throttle...or if brakes are not releasing same thing. This doesn't sound like the problem. I was on a slight incline and didn't feel any resistance from brakes or clutch engaged. When I got moving it did ...

Clutch and brake flush question

(New owner of my first goldwing) I just flushed my clutch because I was having some grabbing when the bike got hot in stop-and-go traffic. when I took it for a test drive afterward, I didn't make it to the stop sign at the end of the street. The engine idles very rough and stalls when I try to start...

Re: OEM tires or substitute.

Unfortunately, my bike and all the paperwork (I keep all receipts for proof of work) are at my store where I garage it and is 21 miles away. Tire specs are inside the trunk lid. Just use those. There has been quite a bit of discussion of radial vs bias ply tires. I for one do not see an advantage t...

Re: OEM tires or substitute.

I also looked at buying original spec tires. Checked everywhere but nobody local had them. The local Honda Dealer had E-3s and at a premium of $75 over what I could have bought them over the internet and they included mounting and balancing, it was a no brainer. Tires on mine were 12 years old and ...

OEM tires or substitute.

I recently bought my first Goldwing, a 99 GL1500A. Two weeks later I ran over a nail in the parking lot, Aaaaarrrrrrggggg!
