Re: clutch

As a minimum, flush the system with fresh DOT4 and then try it again. You may get lucky and that is all you will need to do for now.

Re: clutch

I believe I only had the clutch cleaned out once since i bought the bike new. It is a 1994 GL1500? 25 years old? You only had the clutch cleaned out once? You need to rebuild the clutch master cylinder and rebuild or replace the slave cylinder and use clean, new DOT 4 fluid when you fill it back up...

An isolator is a really good idea but, if you do not want an isolator you can always go with a simple plug and play harness:

Re: motorcycle tire blow out & tow SAGA

If you had used Shinko's in the past on this heavy of a bike you might rethink that. They just can't handle the load and have proven to fail early. At least that has been my experience.

Re: motorcycle tire blow out & tow SAGA

When was the last time the valve stems had been replaced? If not every tire change, perhaps every other tire change would be a good time to replace them. I know this is after the fact but the solid metal stems held in place with a couple of machine nuts is a good investment. 90 degree valve stem.jpg

I also have a Tulsa Tall on my GL1800 that has been on the bike since 2014. After 62,000 miles it is still scratch using 210 and no circular cleaning/polishing motion.
OOPs.. still scratch free.

Re: side cover grommet

Your best option is your local Honda Motorcycle dealer. The price you pay for 1 at the dealer you can get a variety pack from wingstuff.com or cyclemate.com. You will need them later, better to have a couple extra anyway. I wonder what the shipping charge to Australia is from WingStuff.com or Cycle...

Re: 1996 goldwing 1500 rear differential

Why does your profile say you have a 1988 GL1500. Is that what you own and are now just working on a 1996? The '88 and '89 final drive units are different than all the rest of the GL1500 final drive units. However, the gear ratios are all the same. The '89 final drive will bolt up to the swing arm b...

Re: Looses fitting side coveres

Side Cover Grommets.jpg There is a total of eight grommets holding the two side covers on. If you replace them all with OEM grommets from Honda, it will cost just under $30. #1 - 83551-MA6-000 - $2.25 each from Honda. $2.25 x 4 = $9.00 #2 - 83551-300-000 - $5.85 each from Honda. $5.85 x 2 = $11.70 ...

Rotella T4 is okay but I have no personal experience with it. I've only used the Rotella T6 synthetic oil.

To find a used one, look at online auctions like Ebay, Offer-Up and Craig's List to name a few. Or search out motorcycle dismantlers.

For new - go to Partzilla.com or Ronayers.com.

There is a catch-all term that basically means that stupid people are gonna keep on doing stupid things because that's what they are, period.

"Stupid is as Stupid Does"

The term was popularized in the 1994 Tom Hanks movie Forrest Gump.

Re: Recommendation for 1996 GW 1500 Trike Clutch

New to me trike, fairly consistent chatter taking off, kinda unnerving. Guess I'll go out and check out that return hole. Hey John, try using a 100% synthetic oil like Rotella T6 or Mobil 1. My '99 two wheeler would chatter on start off when it was hot, usually while riding two up. I switched to Mo...
