I am not certain but I believe all the Honda headsets were made by the J&M Corp. https://jmcorp.com/

Re: 99 1500 29,000 miles, Rough engine at 65+
NGK DPR7EA-9 plugs have worked for me for the last 300,000 miles or so on two different GL1500's.

I'd suggest changing the spark plugs. The NGK DPR7EA-9 plugs are quite inexpensive really.

Re: GL1500 DEFLECTOR Righthand side
If you go to Ebay, you can find them all day for about $180 shipped in the color you want.
Or, you can opt for one that is not in your color for as low as $28.
Since that is a rare color, you should probably look for a one, or a set, that can be painted to your desired color.

Re: Progressive Suspension 416 1633 Rebuild kit
You probably figured this out but looking into the same shock issue I ran across a video that said Honda part # 91257-MG9-671 works for the oil seal on Progressive 416 series shocks. If you get the opportunity can you please post the link to the video here? Also, did it show how to rebuild the Hond...

Re: starter switch
It is not really easy to replace but you can try shooting some contact cleaner into the switch housing and operating the switch multiple times. Before squirting any cleaner into the switch assembly, make sure you cover the fairing with something to keep any of the fluid off of your plastic. Though t...

Look for the VIN on the right side of the frame adjacent to the fork tubes, just forward of the radiator fill cap. Along with the VIN is the year and month of manufacture.

I have used Dyna Beads for almost 20 years, and always got a smooth ride with them. When I put a CT on the rear of my 1800, I poured in 4oz "just to make sure" too little don't work, too much don't matter. it rides smooth as glass I guess you would be the expert to ask about doing this. N...

Re: brake fluid change
you should never have to ADD brake fluid - it's a closed system, so if the fluid is suddenly low, it means you have a leak. This statement is absolutely wrong. As the pads wear down, the pistons push out causing the area behind them to be replaced by brake fluid. Also, when you put new pads on you ...

I use this: CRC Electronic Cleaner, Quick Dry for Sensitive Electronics, 11 oz
When I do, as a precaution, I cover the fairing and dash with a towel or furniture blanket. I don't really trust it to be 100% safe but it is a step in the right direction.- Tue Oct 29, 2024 2:46 pm

Re: brake fluid change
You have been lucky. It is not an 'all of a sudden' thing. It has always been a necessity that the brake and clutch fluids be changed at least every two years on any vehicle. Brake fluid absorbs moisture. Contrary to popular belief, the system is not sealed from the atmosphere. Air contains moisture...

Re: heater control lever
When you go to the dealership with a part number that you KNOW is correct it is kind of hard for them or anyone to screw it up. And, the dealership does not charge you shipping. You pay for the part and sales tax and that is it.

The OEM part is: KNOB, VENT ADJUSTER LEVER (LOWER) 83163-MCA-A70 and costs about $5.00.
I'd suggest talking to your dealer's parts department.

Check Relay #3 and make sure the electrical connections are tight and not corroded. You may have to loosen the relay panel from its mounting to check this. That would mean loosening the left saddle bag from its mount to get the relay panel loose.

Re: Burning issue with tall windshield
A bit off topic - but my bike came with an aftermarket windscreen - unsure of brand/model, but I have some troubles reaching full turn at low speed. The levers/ends of my bars will catch on the end of windscreen and will prevent me from getting those last few degrees of steering angle. Also means I...

I have a 2010 Navi Comfort and when I go to start I don't get any clicking noise either from the relays or the starter. The headlight dims and draws on the battery and drains it pretty fast. I am thinking if it was a starter I would get the relay noise. Looking at the drawings, the reverse regulato...

Re: GL turn Signal not shutting off
I personally believe that load resistors negate any power savings that LED bulbs may offer. Besides, adding load resistors can add complications depending on where and how they are mounted and connected. Re-installing a couple standard tungsten bulbs would be the simplest and you would eliminate any...

Dear Goldwing docs, I have an 89 Gl 1500. I have been going through and replacing all of my lights to LED's. I just recently replaced the turn signal flasher units that are located under the trunk to LED version. Here is the problem: When I use the turn signals, they flash at the correct speed now,...

The heel toe shifter in itself is fine. Any damage is usually caused by the rider from using too much force on the heel and toe shift lever. That will cause shift forks to bend and wear prematurely. That would require engine and transmission tear down for repair. With only 17,000 mi on the clock I d...
