Have you looked on Ebay? I've seen several there. Some good, some not so good.

One more thing, one of the exhaust manifolds most certainly needs to be free of the engine and frame to extract that chamber and install a replacement chamber.

Re: Help! 1997 GL1500 trouble removing the connector piece for the two exhaust pipes in front of the rear tire.
It is a tough joint to get loose. The chamber outlet joint has a tendency to compress in the center where the muffler clamp has compressed the muffler gasket around the chamber outlet pipe. The outer portion of the chamber joint at the muffler is not compressed. It resembles the shape of an hourglas...

Re: Help! 1997 GL1500 trouble removing the connector piece for the two exhaust pipes in front of the rear tire.
I have removed the mufflers but never the exhaust chamber. To remove it would require removing at least one exhaust manifold I believe.

Re: Help! 1997 GL1500 trouble removing the connector piece for the two exhaust pipes in front of the rear tire.
So I found online the part I'm trying to remove, I will attach the picture below, again just want to make sure there are no other bolts other than the ones on either side connecting the maifolds. With regards to repairs.. the piece actually is in very good condition with only surface rust. welding ...

I'm interested to know what you will do about the piece you broke off. Lots of rust there and pretty thin. Don't know if it can be welded.

It is ABS plastic. On later model years they used chromed ABS plastic.

Re: 1500 Drive Shaft Lube Video
Hmm.. maybe you used assembly grease instead of Moly Grease. Assembly grease will mash up and fling off under heave pressure, Moly won't.

Re: 1500 Drive Shaft Lube Video
So, you are talking about the 6 pin final driven flange that is a 5 pin driven flange on the later models '90 - '00 right? The 6 pins on yours '88-'89 need to be greased as well as the splines on the driven flange. Moly Paste will work well on the pins and the driven flange. 6-Pin Driven Flange.jpg ...

Re: I HATE PolyCarbonate Motorcycle Windshields
Honestly, I do not know how to tell the difference between a polycarbonate and an acrylic windshield. The OEM windshield don't seem to scratch easily. Tulsa Windshields don't seem to scratch easily and Slipstreamer windshields do not seem to scratch easily. I have used all three and regularly clean ...

Good work Goose. Glad you narrowed it down and then came back and let us know. It is highly appreciated when a fault is identified and reported back to the board.

Re: Nice ride today 1/10/23
Been through there myself a month ago or so.
I saw that Honda too back them. It appears to be a Super Hawk 305cc. I was l leading a group and didn't have time to stop and look at it. It is pretty much a copy of my first bike. I'll have to make the trip back there soon.

Re: GL1500 Radio Volume Muted
I've had similar experiences with my radio. I've managed to eliminate it by switchology. What position do you normally have the Intercom Mute and AVC controls turned to? I keep the Intercom Mute fully clockwise and the AVC at fully clockwise. No longer an issue. When yours goes Mute, does Mute show ...

Re: Electrical while cranking
I have never seen this. But, if I had, I would remove the bolts and wires from all the connections between the battery and dog bone fuses, clean with a stainless brush and some solvent and then reassemble and test again.

I've seen them stick when there was a small piece of grit stuck between the slide and its bore. A slight flush with solvent can clear it.

Re: Fuse Removal & Test
After removing the screws with an 8mm socket there are two plastic retainers on either side of the fuse and once pushed outward the fuse came out just fine. Also didn't know there would be a hefty sized copper "tab" in the middle and on the back of the fuse. (see pictures) Once out of the...

Re: A fuel injector story.
Fuel nowadays is not that clean. Changing the fuel filter more often will help a lot - the initial flow rates indicate that dirt/crud is getting through the filter, as will regular use of fuel treatment for injectors. Imagine what your car injectors are like - we tend to maintain our recreation veh...

Re: idler remote adjustment
That flexible adjustment shaft is only physically attached to the bracket at the carburetor I believe. You will have to get to the attachment point at the carburetor to spray some penetrant to it. Removing the side of the fairing where you right knee rests may help to get you access.

I answered my own question, but thanks for reading...as in so many things in Goldwing electronics, the answer was TUNER CLEANER!! Bike was ridden for thirteen years w/o need to activate CB volume/squelch/channel buttons, so a little cleaner in there and exercising the buttons did the job. Perfect! ...
