I would imagine a thin strip of the tape would be around the perimeter. It doesn't look like there is a lot of room anywhere else.
A high output blow dryer may work, it will just take a bit longer to generate enough heat to loosen the grip of the glue on the tape.

Re: My Aspencade, i washed it, now it won't start
I get the feeling from your description of the condition of the bike when you bought it that merely washing it was not what caused your no-start issue so don't beat yourself up over it. It may have contributed to it but I doubt it was the whole reason for the problem. but do be careful if you do use...

Re: Remove Chrome Radio Panel
Agreed, both the monofilament line and dental floss are a great way to start at the corners of the panel. Depending on where the double stick tape is, it may be a little difficult to get the line or floss in the exact position needed. That is why I would start with a little heat from a good heat gun...

Re: Remove Chrome Radio Panel
Use heat from a heat bun to warm the panel and soften the glue on the two sided tape that is holding it in place. As it is heating up, pry up at one corner and keep pressure on it until it releases.

The handlebar position is adjustable if it is hitting the windshield.
Normally, the handlebars do not hit the OEM windshield.

Re: Use of K&N air filter in Goldwings
Both the GL1500 and the GL1800 have the large flay sided o-rings around the air box sealing lip and under the cover. However, the GL1800 o-rings have no part number, unlike the GL1500. The GL1500 parts are still available for about $11 each. I do not know of a way to even look up the parts for the G...

Re: Use of K&N air filter in Goldwings
A K&N is a little more labor intensive and time consuming to deal with compared to the OEM filter. With the OEM filter all you need to do is replace it. With the K&N, it has to be washed, oiled and then allowed to drain and dry for a few hours. And, with the K&N you need to remove the se...

I'm cheap, I am using the Peak Asian Blue coolant. Technically the same stuff as Honda, and better choice than generic green coolant. I can see how it would be more economical. For the price of one gallon of 50/50 mix Honda Type 2 coolant, you get a gallon of the Peak concentrated. You can make two...

Re: Installing a CB on a 1992 GL1500 Interstate.
Ive recently been gifted a 92 interstate from my inlaws and I would like to install a cb on it similar to the factory unit. Im wondering what is involved with installing the factory system. Do I need to change the radio head unit or is there provisions for running the side unit and handlebar unit a...

Re: Antifreeze
Personally, I suggest Honda coolant because it is exactly what Honda recommends. Yes, it is expensive by the quart from the powersports dealer but it is considerably more reasonable from the Honda car dealer and it comes in gallon bottles. From the car dealer you will see it is not the same color as...

The adjusters are easily accessible from the front underneath the headlight assembly on either side of the forks. No plastic needs to be removed. You just have to see up in that black hole to find the adjusters. A good flashlight helps a lot.

You can route the fuel hose around the vacuum operated petcock essentially taking it out of the fuel stream and then see what flows through the hoses.

Re: 1500 fuel issues
If you have applied power directly tot he fuel pump and it does not work then I guess you have gone far enough. Remove the pump and inspect it and then most likely you will be replacing it. Just remember to not take the top off the fuel tank unless there is less than half a tank of fuel in there. If...

You are 100% correct. That is the one time I had mine seize because I had the Honda shop replace my pads when it was due the first time. Since then I've replaced them myself every time. And I've never had a single one seize on me. And that's on three different GL 1500 goldwings totaling more than 35...

Re: Front brake caliper pins
The pad pins seize because someone tightened them too tight when they last installed them. The pad pin bolt has a beveled seat and is only supposed to be torqued to 13 ft-lb/18 N-m and the plug is installed to keep the pin secure and it is torqued to 1.8 ft-lb/2.5 N-m. That beveled seat is what stic...

Re: Final driven flange wear.
Yes, I believe it will. After 90,000 miles the aluminum inserts in the rubber dampeners are most likely worn and the rubber is shot as well allowing too much play, there should be none at all. Cyclemax has rubber parts: https://cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/gl1500_rear_wheel_damper_set/147858 They used t...

Re: front brake pads
ABS or no ABS makes no difference at all. OEM pads have a different part number for the left and right side. The inner pads of each side have an anti-rattle plate. That is the reason for different part numbers. After market pads may not have an anti rattle plate and for the most part will say that l...
