Re: Centre stand removal revisited
so sidecarjohn, what car are you setting up on your wing. I have to say the 1500 is a sweet wing to put a car on. it rides so nice once you get it dialed in. if you haven't thought about it you may want to consider changing your trees, 4.5 deg is perfect and almost 100% removes the slow speed headsh...

Re: Centre stand removal revisited
connecting the upper links to the bike will support it while you install the bottom links. use motorcycle jack to support car level, roll bike up to car links and install. in other words, connect bike to car, not car to bike. I wish it was that easy :D . keeping the bike secured and stationary is t...

Re: Anyone travel with a dog on a Wing?
we have been taking our pups with us for years, most of the time they get to ride in a sidecar but we also carry them like this. they don't have any problems riding in the carriers when our chi pup was little my wife would carry him in a sling made for dogs and it would sit in her lap while riding a...

Re: Centre stand removal revisited
put a 2x4 sideways out under the rear tire then use ratchet straps to tie bike to the 2x4. when installing your sidecar you should let most if not all the air out of the rear shocks so lifting it a bit on the 2x4 won't be an issue. what car are you installing

Re: Is LCD burnt??
I bought a 96 that had sat for about 3 years or more and had the same issue, however after about a week of riding it once I had it running it came back to life on it's own, Now if we let it sit a couple weeks the screen will be blank again until about the 3rd time it is restarted then other than the...

Re: Trailer Hitch Light Bar with brake and turn signals
another thought, I did this on my wife's 1500 trike and it really stands out, I took a red LED strip light and mounted it across the rear horizonal bar of her luggage rack on the trunk. her bike does not have a spoiler so this works like a spoiler light but is much brighter and it is at eye lever to...

Re: Help Needed - Ripped Hose, liquid on ground
that is just a drain hose, should be 2 more there with it. not sure about that fluid, did you just gas up before you parked. there is supposed to be a little plug on the end of that hose and you drain it every oil change

Re: A little help with my heel-toe shifter?
I took that exact set up off my wife's trike and installed a different set. I think I still have them in a cabinet. I will look and see if it has the original bolt there and if it does your welcome to it
I too never found anything on them that said what make they were.

Re: carb balancing
just curious why you think you need to balance your carbs, is it surging or has a off idle stumble. if you have never seen your carbs I would be more concerned at this point about the 90deg vacuum hose that is directly under them than the balance. you have to remove a good bit of body parts to get t...

Re: Getting stuck in 5th gear
so I drove the trike for 2 days and have a couple things I found. 1 it will almost never get stuck in 5th as long as you don't let it slow down more than 40 mph before shifting into 4th second if it does get stuck you can nail the throttle for just a second and then it will down shift like normal. I...

Re: Mystery Coolant Leak
look VERY closely at the little plastic TEE laying on the right side of the thermostat housing, it just sort of lays on the manifold. shake the hose that comes from it and goes down to the water pump whiles it's running. I just went through the same thing and it was the TEE it had a hairline crack a...

97 SE w Sidecar
I am selling my 97 SE with a Motorvation sidecar I consider this a running project as it does need a little work but runs great and is turn key road ready the bike has a small leak from the housing the water pump bolts to. the right fork seal is leaking a little side car is just cosmetic as it is a ...

Re: Getting stuck in 5th gear
the bike came with boards and a heel toe shifter but it was the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen in my life so I replaced them with a nice set of Markland boards that are in very good condition. as to her stopping in 5th that was because it wouldn't down shift and I told her to bring it to a s...

Re: Getting stuck in 5th gear
well it looks like I was wrong, it is still getting stuck in 5th gear sometimes. it's weird it only does it sometimes there is no telling when it might do it, sometimes she can get it to downshift after working it a little and other times we have to stop. I'm not sure what to think at this point. th...

Re: replacing thermostat
Got it :D a little heat, a little back and forth movements and out it came. so after that it went fairly smooth going back together. I don't think there are any short cuts to this job, not something I would want to do again, but it did give me a chance to check the little elbow vacuum hose under the...

Re: Getting stuck in 5th gear
well I'm 99% sure I got it fixed. we haven't driven it yet to verify but I'm sure I got it. turns out it was the shifter, the front knuckle was binding badly when downshifting. I had installed the set up right after I bought the trike, I figured because it had just been removed from a 1500 it was se...

Re: Getting stuck in 5th gear
I will say I have a 97 with a sidecar on it with the same heel toe shifter set up without the shifter brace, has been on it since 05 and the only issue I have is the bushings are getting worn. I'm not ruling out the shifter set up by any means, I will be looking it over carefully this weekend. I jus...

Re: Getting stuck in 5th gear
I do use Rotella and have for years. I did check the oil in her bike and air in tires before we rode. the oil still looked new but I can't help thinking that maybe there is some hidden sludge in there from it sitting for years before I got it

Getting stuck in 5th gear
I have a strange situation with my wife's trike. the bike is a 96 1500 with only 50K miles. it sat for a long time before I bought it and brought it back to life. it just started doing this and has now done it 3 times in the last 2 times it was ridden. she can be riding along and when she goes to sl...
