Re: Grinding Noise Coming From Front Wheel Area

On going back to the fellow that repaired the bike I would just forget about him. It's critical to have good quality workmanship done on suspension / brake parts so my advice is stay away from him. The parts are marked as to front and rear on the fork brace and also on the caps on the front axle, It...

Re: The Wanderer

The biggest improvement was the new tires and tightening the swing arm not much improvement on the head bearing adjustment, With all the great suggestions on this site the Wanderer is now fun to ride!
Just out of curiosity I checked the tire rotation and it is correct.

Re: Passenger scuffing

It's a bit different in my world. Don't mind maintaining things and trying to keep things decent however something like this would be a Beauty Mark to me! Some day down the road I'd look at that scuff and say to my self,,,, Wonder what old what's her name doing now? We went for a few rides had some ...

Re: What's in your bags?

I have the owners manual and service manual in pdf on my phone. Putting the manual on a phone is a great idea.. My extra key is hidden elsewhere on the bike. I leave the key in the ignition and the spare is hidden in the glove box with the owners manual... We live in a rural area with a very low cri...

Re: What's in your bags?

Tool Kit that came with bike. Like New owners manual!!! Sun Glasses. Sun Screen . Clean Rag to Wipe the Windshield, The nasty water and paper towels at the pump scratch the windscreen. Extra Key. Light Jacket. If I could easily remove the Tupperware from the bike we wouldn't miss it as we don't need...

Re: Honda's New GL1800: With Leading-Link Front Suspension

Had a Honda Dream in the 60's that had a leading link front suspension. Sorry about the pun but it did handle like a Dream.
If memory serves me correctly Honda had this type of suspension on several models during that time period.

Re: Never too old

Thanks for the inspiration Redial I have almost the same medical history except for the altzhimers, The Gout is by far the worst for me when it kicks in I spend a lot of time sitting on the couch. Glad to hear you had the good luck of finding a well preserved bike you wanted, one of the best Wings I...

Re: The Wanderer

With the suggestions from all the kind folks on here I feel that the handling is getting toward the tolerable side of things. Between removing tupperware and making endless special tools it doesn't leave much time for riding... Just kidding. Well I have matching tires 200 or so miles on them, bearin...

Re: How fast is fast?

Bought an old 750 Triumph years ago, saw a long straight stretch with out many intersections so I turned it loose, it easily went past the ton mark. After I slowed it down the brain kicked in here I am on an older machine with 20 year old bias tires someone should have slapped me for that one. The w...

Re: Is this antifreeze residue??

Looks like an issue. If it was mine I'd clean it off and if it comes back in a few days then you would know for sure.
Not telling u to test it by the taste method but anti freeze has a sweet taste.

The Wanderer

Been riding since the early 60's and have enjoyed all the bikes some more than others. Got to thinking that is why I've invested in them. Anyway about 10 years ago I had some issues with joint pain and couldn't enjoy biking anymore so I offered my small collection up for sale. A couple of them I hat...

Re: Did you name your bike?

Wanderer... It required a good grip on the handle bars and a lot of courage to ride it. Most of that has been fixed.

Re: Intro

Thanks trike lady I pulled the bearings out of the steering stem, they are in good shape however they were adjusted way to tight, set everything up with a torque wrench and it handles better now.

Re: Intro

Had a rain day here so I put the bike up on the motorcycle lift and did a good check on the swing arm and rechecked the forks. Everything seems fine although I will make a tool to check the torque on the stem bearings and will take some time and really check out the swing arm, It is supposed to rain...

Re: Intro

Hi thanks for the reply, I didn't get into much detail because this really belongs in another part of the forum. Bike has 50,000 miles on it. So far I've replaced front fork seals, checked wheel bearings front and rear, new tires. Checked the frame to see if someone put a Hinge in the middle of it. ...

Intro

Stopped by to introduce myself. So a big Howdy to everyone. Been lurking here for awhile lots of great info here ,trying to sort out a small problem with the bike with out much success . The problem is what I'd call twitchy handling. Like everything about the bike except it never feels stable under ...
