Re: How to replace your cruise and sub air filters

Went to replace the cruise and sub filters this afternoon, took about 90 minutes kinda hustling so I'd finish before it got dark out. The cruise filter was like new - stretchy, pliable, clean and not crumbly in the least so I left that one alone. It seems like soaking the sub filter in oil is what'...

Re: Anyone been turned away from CycleMax?

I can see both sides, but regardless, Paypal ruled in favor of the buyer even with the Cyclemax pictures. Let Cyclemax sell it on craigslist or e-bay to recoup part of their investment. That being said, if you were dissatisfied with a seller, why in the world would you go back? There is no law that...

Re: Anyone been turned away from CycleMax?

It's unfortunate that you feel you were wronged. Cyclemax is quite a reputable dealer. Off hand, I'd say that everyone here loves dealing with them. I have had many many dealings with them and appreciate them very much. If it was their decision to not do business with someone, I am 100% sure they h...

Re: Anyone been turned away from CycleMax?

OK, so here is the Cyclemax side of the story. This person purchased a GL1500 light bar for their bike from us. As most of you know, we put a lot of pictures and details such as dimensions in our descriptions. Once this person received the light bar, even if they paid no attention to the dimensions...

Re: How to replace your cruise and sub air filters

Since I read this article, I wanted to change out the cruise and sub filters on my GL1500 Aspencade, and ordered them along with some other parts from CycleMax. A few days later, I noticed my order was cancelled. Assuming the items were out of stock or back-ordered, I called CycleMax to see what hap...

Anyone been turned away from CycleMax?

I have been ordering a lot of parts from various vendors over the last few years for my GL1500 Aspencade in an effort to refurbish it. A few days ago, I placed two orders with CycleMax for about half a dozen items totaling around $50.00. Two days later, both orders were cancelled. I thought maybe th...

Re: What do you use to tow your Wing?

I don't tow my wings. I ride them. That's what they were made for. Only Harley riders tow there bikes. hahahahahaha ;) So true... Still, for every Wing I have ever seen out on the open highway, I have seen at least ten HD's... There are just so many of them! I wonder if that will change now that th...

Re: Oem radio replacement

Cool running, did you have the lights inside the radio replaced at the same time? Was there an additional cost, if so how much. My lights are getting less and less in my radio. Bob No, I did not have the inside lights changed out. Honestly, I didn't even think about doing it... I am considering cha...

My oem radio had a issue with the cassette deck, not playing a tape it just clicks. Re: Top Tier Gas Stations

It is quite difficult to find gasoline sold in the US anymore that does NOT contain 10% ethanol. I don't believe it is any longer possible to buy gasoline in the US anywhere that does not contain at least 10% ethanol. I have worked in an oil refinery in Texas for the last 32 years, and we have alwa...

Re: My "new" GL1500

I am really wanting to find a spoiler to add to mine like coolrunning did (and the exact same color). Hey Corkster52! I checked eBay just for fun and found two spoilers for your Goldwing! Both are the correct color, but one is incredibly priced (auction) at $18.00 no reserve. Others are watcing it,...

 I am really wanting to find a spoiler to add to mine like coolrunning did (and the exact same color). You might get lucky on Ebay and find a salvaged one in perfect shape, same color, like I did. It was from a wrecked 2000 GL1500SE. It has the LED light bar, wiring harness and mounting bolts...

Re: My "new" GL1500

Wow! You certainly did a lot of preventative maintenance to your GL1500. I bought a 1999 GL1500A Aspencade last year with a bit over 35K on the odometer, and felt compelled to go through a similar process to ensure I would not have any issues when I took it out for the long rides I had planned. All ...

Re: Tulsa xtra tall windshield ?

That is exactly what I was thinking about doing. I am finding that there are quite a few aftermarket windshields out therethat are standard OEM height (26"?) that are not very expensive. I was warned by a friend to stay clear of the G4 because they are coated with some kind of clear coat that tends ...

Re: Tulsa xtra tall windshield ?

The Tulsa tall is so thick (to be able to withstand the extra force generated by the wind against that tall windshield) that the height adjustment doesn't even work. You generally have to set the height you want when you install it, and that's where it will stay. The fact that yours is moving says ...

Re: Goldwing Wannabes

I live in Far West Texas, and for every fellow Goldwing rider I see on the road, there are at least 25 HDs. Most of my coworkers ride, but it is about a 50/50 mix of HD/Indian and Metric bikes, mostly Goldwings. Not wanting to be preachy or argumentative, I add this discussion to the ones you don't ...

Re: LEDs and flashers - ya... that again...

This isn't an answer to your question, but my thoughts on the never ending hyper flash / cancelling debate. I have LEDs just about everywhere but my turn signals, for just the reasons pointed out. After looking at the solutions a while back, I started questioning the need, or desire for LEDs in the...

Re: What do you use to tow your Wing?

I just bought a Kendon single rail folding trailer for my GL1500. It weighs only 350 pounds, has torsion axles, 13" wheels, high speed radial tires, 6 tie down points, and when not in use it can be stood upright for garage storage. The deck is diamond plate and it has fenders, tail lights and turn s...

Thanks for answering that question. I have only seen photos of them, and did not know they were adjustable. I will be shopping for some.

Re: Looking for warm winter gloves

if you don't have hand wings you should get some, they keep a lot of cold air off your hands when they are closed and you can get away with wearing a pair of gloves you wouldn't wear without the hand wings Great idea! I installed the large wings this summer to bring in air behind my fairing to cool...

Thank you for the quick reply. The gloves you recommended are exactly what I was looking for! I didn't think to see what was available to snowmobile riders. Great idea! Most of the time, if it is cold enough to require real winter gear around El Paso, Texas you don't see many folks out riding. They ...

Looking for warm winter gloves

Living in the Southwest, it is hard to find a good selection of cold weather gear locally. I was hoping our friends from the Great White North might have some good suggestions. I don't think I want to go with heated grips or gloves. I like the gauntlet style, with padded palms, deerskin, black, insu...

I also bought a classic Goldwing last year. I did the same "refurbishment" tasks with complete fluid changes, new tires, battery, updated HID headlights, all other lights upgraded to LEDs, and even upgraded to air horns. I think the GL1500 is the best kept secret on the road. They are just as amazin...
