Getting ready for a 4th of July trip up to Brookings OR, then up to Seattle, over to Missoula then maybe down though Yellowstone and Jackson or cut through the Sawtooth National Forrest and wind up in Sun Valley.....too many damn choices

Re: Darkside tire change

48 psi in the tire seems to be the sweet spot with the Austone taxi tire on the 1500. shock pressure at max (57psi on the centre stand) and pull the innr rear fender forward with a zip tie or something similar to take care of the minor tire rub on the bigger bumps. Welcome to the Dakside, dont forge...

Re: Darkside tire change

Here's what I learned this weekend: For riding 2-up on my Austone, I had to pump up my tire to 44 psi to remove the "squishy" feeling I had to jack my rear suspension up to 65 psi to help prevent bottoming out/fender rub (me and my Honey are "big pant people") My Wing sits ...

Re: How to remove and replace your rear wheel

Not sure on the mileage sprintexec...the previous owner was less than stellar on routine maintenance...I got the bike with just over 75,000. If I were to guess, the rear drive oil may have been changed once before. The stuff that I replaced was dark but didn't smell burnt or had any shavings in it...

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing

After divorcing my practice wife, I remarried a Scotch-Irish ball of fire! After being married only a few years we began talking about getting a motorcycle...five years later I was fed-up with the talk and really began searching. Last year I found a good deal on a 1994 GL1500 with trailer...after a ...

Re: Darkside tire change

Well...I did it!!! I did the reading and research and I finally went and put an Austone on rear of my GL1500. I had a local bike shop remove my old Dunlop Elite III and they put on the car tire for a nominal fee. My first long ride will be tomorrow so I'll be able to give a report of riding 2-up thr...

Re: How to remove and replace your timing belts

Can't say "Thanks" enough for all the pearls of wisdom from everyone about this topic...
I had a very successful replacement of my timing belts last weekend and the result was a carefree 400 mile ride.

Going from Utah to Brookings OR...any advice on the route?

Planning on riding with the wife to see a friend of her's in Brookings Oregon in a few weeks, looking at my choice of routes, the fastest is through Winnemucca NV and up. However, taking I-80 a little further to Reno and up I heard was very scenic...Or, what about north through Bosie ID? As this is ...
