Re: SoCalMotoGear Pathfinder GL1500 Position Light LEDs

They’re great! They even illuminate street signs in the middle of the day. Most importantly, everyone else on the road can’t miss seeing me. I highly recommend them.

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

I don’t want to mess with all of that. The Honda Pro Cleaner is great for all of the ABS plastic and I used it on the OE windshield with no issue and it worked great. I would prefer to use it I the MadStad windshield for convenience sake, but I need to know if it’s safe. I’ll call MadStad if necessa...

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

Well, I took my Wing out today for its maiden voyage this season and I am VERY pleased with the performance of the MadStad windshield! Love it! The bike performed great also. It should be noted I did the winterization as outlined in the “How To” articles from Wingadmin, as I have always done and tha...

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

That is awful also. The guy that hit me had a revoked driver’s license and of course no insurance, was high on meth, had a probation violation apprehension request issued on him, had just committed a retail theft, and was driving a car he was suppose to return to the owner a week earlier. He ran my ...

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

Man, that’s awful! My injuries and long term issues are no where as severe as yours. I’m so sorry for you. Seeing you were also in public safety as a fireman, I’ll share with you I was a Detective and at that time in law enforcement for 30 years. I had to retire because of that crash, but I’m doing ...

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

Very happy to see you survived and had the courage to get back on a bike. Initially, I told myself was never going to ride again, but as I started recovering AND getting my monthly newsletters from this site, I realized it was part of my life, a passion, that I was not going to let the actions of so...

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

Good to hear. I don’t ride at night too often if I can help it either for the same reasons, but these lights I’m sure will make it easier to see deer and other animals that can ruin your day. Being seen in the daytime will be better with these lights too. I got hit on my late ‘89 GL1500 2 1/2 years ...

Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

After seeing the Madstad Windshield, Electrical Connection LED Headlight, and the SoCal Position and Driving Lights reviews I order all of them from Cyclemax and installed them today on my 2000 GL1500SE. The most challenging installation job were the Electrical Connection Headlights. Despite the rev...

Re: SoCalMotoGear Pathfinder GL1500 Position Light LEDs

Thank you all. I ordered the trifecta. EC L.E.D. Headlamps and SoCal Position and Driving L.E.D. replacement bulbs from Cyclemax. I’ll let you all know in a few weeks how I like them. I’m sure I will like them in any event.

Re: SoCalMotoGear Pathfinder GL1500 Position Light LEDs

One more question I hope you can help me with please. Do you have a recommendation for LED replacement bulbs for the driving lights, aka cornering lights? I have a 2000 GL1500 SE. Thanks.

Re: SoCalMotoGear Pathfinder GL1500 Position Light LEDs

Thanks for the review of this product and the Electrical Connection headlight bulbs. I am considering purchasing the EC headlight bulbs and I want to replace the position bulbs with LED also. You mention that this product’s light color matches well with the light color of the So Cal headlight bulbs....

Re: 12” MadStad on 1999 GL1500

Thank you Dave! I will proceed in ordering the 12 inch. I won’t install it until the end of the month. I live in Wisconsin and I probably won’t bring my bike out of hibernation until mid-April after it warms up consistently, and we get a few good downpours of rain, not snow!, to wash the salt and di...

Re: 12” MadStad on 1999 GL1500

Great post RockportDave and the comments in the thread were very informative. I am definitely going to purchase one for my 2000 GL1500SE. I checked out the windshield size recommendations on the Cyclemax website and I’m 5-10 (5-11 on a good day 😬) and the 12 inch is the recommended size for me. Is t...

Re: Carburetor flooding

Adding a good carburetor cleaner a couple times a year to keep them clean, not only when a problem arises, is a good idea. I don’t know if the Quicksilver brand carburetor cleaner is sold in South Africa, but I found it to be the most effective (it is the yellow bottle on the right). Also, adding Ma...

Thank you! One day I’m going to replace them all with LED’s. But for now, I’ll use incandescents. A little easier on the pocketbook.

Light Bulb Recommendation

I recently purchased a set of Show Chrome Saddlebag lights and an Add-On rear center marker light to replace the original equipment reflectors. The replacement lights are equipped with light bulbs that have a much brighter candlepower than the surrounding original equipment tail lights and the Show ...

Re: How to change your fork oil

This DYI article says it’s supposed to be 1-5 psi. I added 3 psi with the wheel lifted off the ground and the suspension has performed well and feels good. I purchased this air pressure gauge off of Amazon to ensure accurate pressure and I used a small hand bicycle pump only pumping it about 4 times...

Should the air pressure be added before or after the front wheel is on the ground? And should the bike be on its center stand?

Re: Replace Rear Brake Rotor

One more question and maybe this is a question for wingadmin. A couple of years ago there were downloadable links for shop repair manuals specific to Honda Goldwings posted on this site. Is that there one available for a 2000 Goldwing GL1500SE?
