Re: Asking for advice.....

If you like looking over the windshield the vent is not as important. If you like looking through your windshield then the vent becomes much more important. It then makes a huge difference especially in warmer weather.

Re: Dead Wing

Often when you hit the starter and everything goes dead, the problem is a bad connection on a battery cable - either on the terminal connecting it to the battery, the battery ground cable connection to ground, or inside one of the battery cables itself. The connection or cable can be good enough to...

Rebuild the petc0ck, kits are cheaper and it's easy.

You wasted money on premium fuel, it's premium because it has addatives to decrease volatility, it's a little harder to ignite.
Solid advice from Crystal, as always.

Guessing 1 of 2 things. As Denver said, clogged gas cap. Or fuel shut off. Maybe check condition of vacuum line to fuel shut off valve.

Re: always started until this spring

I agree with Blu, it sounds like the battery. And if you don’t have a DVM I’m sure someone locally could test your battery. That would be a good starting point.

If it’s the same article I remember reading it was quite lengthy and the intake was made from scratch. From parts acquired from a hardware store and welded together. There were a lot of bugs to iron out as you can imagine and I can’t remember if he ever did quite get it running smoothly.

Re: Help! removing fork seal..no joy

The repair manual calls for 14ft/lbs. I’m not sure I would do even that. There is a fine line between enough and too much torque. Just enough to seal the washer and keep the bolt from backing out.

Re: Help! removing fork seal..no joy

The allen head bolt must be removed first before you can bump the seal out. It can be difficult depending on how long it’s been in and how hard it has been torqued.Make sure you have a very tight fitting Allen wrench. Make sure you have a very tight fitting Allen wrench.

Re: New (to me) GL1500 1993 aspy

That is the first time I’ve heard of a “gizmo”that can kill the GL1500. My opinion, ride it and shift it and if there are no transmission issues, buy it. You will have a hard time coming across a better deal for a Goldwing of that year and model. Timing belts should of ultimate priority.
