Re: Trunk Locked Forever Now What

Now camouflage the holes by adding a light, chrome patch, eyebolts or something.
Don’t see the need, since the holes won’t be visible. Just a couple plugs the right size.

Re: Trunk Locked Forever Now What

I hope your trunk isn’t as packed full of stuff as mine normally is. Be patient and think it through. They make all different size plugs for closing the holes and where you drill won’t be visible anyway.👍

Re: Trunk Locked Forever Now What

I just reread your post and if the latch cover was installed incorrectly, I’m pretty sure the coat hanger won’t work.

Re: GL1500 headlight assembly

I believe the '88 through '97 are all interchangeable. Yeah, '98 was the change to clear plastic. Good info. Thank you both. Now I will have a much better idea how to narrow my search. I could kick myself. I leaned the bike over on the side stand and caught the corner of my table saw. It cracked th...

GL1500 headlight assembly

I am looking for a headlight assembly for my 96 Aspencade.I would like to know which years are interchangeable. Mine is glass but some years were plastic. I would like to stay with glass if I could.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Re: the lower cowl deflector Trim

Just a caution about highway pegs on the engine guards. I have read of incidents where certain pegs on hard surfaces can damage the valve cover if the bike is tipped over.

Re: the lower cowl deflector Trim

It will fit if you get it positioned just right and bend the tip of the cowl just enough and very carefully. The engine guard was probably bent up a little if it was tipped over on that side.

Re: Should Rear Brake be able to lock up wheels?

That amount of brake travel sounds about normal to me. My 96 Aspencade is about the same travel wise. The machine weighs just south of 900 pounds. I don’t recall ever having the brakes locked up but I’ve always been able to stop safely.

Condensation can cause moisture to form in humid weather. There are some older threads on this forum that address the issue.

Re: Replacing Faulty Connectors

You can use a small screw driver. The tab on the back needs to be bent just enough to clear the catch point and it will slide right out. And I agree with Rednax about the quality of Honda connectors. No better quality or fit.

I’m still seeing 416’s available on eBay and elsewhere and Progressive still lists them on their website which is strange...?
As near as I can tell all the 416‘s on eBay are Harley Davidson specific. They won’t work on a GL 1500. The 416‘s that are(were) made for a Goldwing are 1633‘s.

Re: My fuel guage is a liar.

I reset my trip meter after refueling and when it hits 200 miles it’s time to look for fuel. That’s also about the time my low fuel light comes on and I can usually get another 40 to 45 miles.

Since the wires already appear to be cut just run +12v to the positive and ground the other wire(-). The low fuel sending unit should have nothing to do with the fuel pump.

Re: Fuel pump components

It’s the sensor for the low fuel light. Known to fail. If it still works just repair wiring and you’re good to go. If the sensor has failed, they are still available. There are also other options available if you search this site.
