Re: Antifreeze leak,,,,
Mine(the mat) came out in pieces. It’s next to impossible to replace it without removing the carbs. And even then it’s a bear. They aren’t cheap either. Over $60 when I bought mine a few years ago for a piece of what looks and feels like rubber roofing.

Re: Antifreeze leak,,,,
Sounds like your having second thoughts about the importance of a few drips of antifreeze on the ground that only happens in colder weather and disappears after warm up. I went through the same scenario. I ended up with both radiators out and the carbs off. I ended up replacing the thermostat and g...

Re: Alternator?? Not again!!!
Here's another alternator option, funny I never hear of them mentioned on the GW sites.... When I bought my '93 in 2017, it came with a CD changer, 400 watt amp, 7 speakers including subwoofer. To power that PO also added a 90Amp alternator. Documentation that came with the bike shows the stereo in...

Re: Life without the shifter brace?
1. Is it low mileage? 2. Do you shift sensibly? 3. Does the seal look good? 4. Does it shift smooth, especially into 4th gear? If you answered yes to those questions, I wouldn’t make the brace a priority. 5. Do you plan on keeping the bike for a long time? 6. Are you a perfectionist? 7. Will thinkin...

Re: Servicing Progressive 416 air shock
I got the shock back together and it is holding air for the first time since I installed them. All because of a missing o ring. Progressive offered no help with this problem, which is why I decided to take it on myself. The 416 was abandoned and they apparently washed their hands of the whole thing....

Re: Servicing Progressive 416 air shock
Thanks Mike. Had I seen this yesterday there would probably be one on order as we speak but I got impatient and spent a couple hours yesterday morning with some pieces I had laying around and came up with this. I might still order one but this worked after I got it oriented. After I got the right sid...

Servicing Progressive 416 air shock
Does anyone know where I can purchase a spring compressing tool to remove the springs from a Progressive 416 air shock? Or even instructions on how to make one. I have some ideas of my own but would welcome any and all advice.

The offset on the left side of the axle should snug the washer against the caliper bracket if the pinch bolt is loose.

Re: Fuel Pump failure
You guys are really jamming up my brain. :? I just told crystal pistol that I found out before that by opening the gas cap there is no more fuel flow up the line and it's not pressurized anymore. To me that should solve the problem. Unless the carbs floats are stuck, then no gas should get into the...

They do if you install them from the plug side after the bulb is in place.

Re: GL 1500 difficult to start?
I let mine run out of fuel after my last ride and winter prep. Then before my first start in the spring I pull the carb side of the fuel shutoff and fill the carbs through the line with a very small funnel. I never start mine through the winter after I put it away. I do keep the battery on a tender.

Re: Headlight assembly lense removal
Getting back to you on this project. I removed the lens using a heat gun. It would have worked better if I would’ve had a helper. If you were doing it alone, as Mike said an oven would work better. Controlled heat plus having both hands to maneuver the lens. Thanks to Erdeniz for his suggestion to u...

Re: Headlight assembly lense removal
Thanks Mike. That is what I was going to guess and that is what it looks like. I was thinking heat gun but your idea is probably the way to go. Easier to control and more even heat. I’m gonna give it a go. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Headlight assembly lense removal
Has anyone ever tried to remove the clear lense alongside the headlight? It is separate from the headlight in the assembly. It looks like there are tabs plus glue or sealer. I’m trying to make one good headlight assembly out of two. Pics below. FA91BC46-347B-47C7-A256-75DA2620B997.jpeg B49B4EB3-AA8C...

I would also check to make sure that the collars that the flange pins fit into are not worn oblong, especially if there was grease applied to them.

Re: Fuel Pump failure
If your fuel shutoff(petcock)is functioning properly, when you pull the pulse(vacuum)line off while the engine is idling, it will run out of fuel and stall. At least mine does. That’s how I winterize it as per WingAdmins instructions to run the carbs dry.

Re: Fuel Pump failure
Denver tried to explain it. We all did. I don’t know how else to put it. To check the fuel shut off you basically have to bypass it. If the motor runs better with the shut off bypassed then the shut off is faulty. You already told us that the fuel pump is delivering fuel. The big breather hose is no...
