Re: Throttle not automatically returning

I've never had one apart or even off but isn't there a return spring around the end of the throttle shaft on each carburetor? I know that automotive carbs have one that is wrapped around the throttle shaft behind the round throttle cable hook up. I have had auto carbs off and apart before and this ...

Re: Broke the air shock mount ear

They can be welded by a good aluminum welder. I have one pictured below. I also found a good one online, the whole assembly. Just bolted it on as it was after I checked it out for play and leakage. I’m pretty sure gear ratio is the same on all the drive assemblies from ‘90 on up. Sure someone will c...

Re: Tire inflators/compressors and max Amp draw

Except Honda designed it to inflate your tires. Read the owners manual. Is that why the factory supplied a hose in tbe right side bag and has the screw on chuck and is setup to work in the park ign switch position?? Why Honda included the hose is not for me to ascertain. But I do know that the susp...

Re: Progressive Suspension 416 Shock

Your chances off finding a set of Progressive shocks to fit the 1500 are very slim to none. New or used. Sure, don't I know! I'm in the UK and have been looking for a used pair for 6 years on and off. Originally for my 91SE, and latterly for my 2000SE. Only came up against a single set on eBay once...

Re: Score! Got an InstaTrike for a deal

Installed new fuel pump and filter. Inspected timing belts and they were looking great. Dumped in some fuel and in about 3 seconds it started up. After about a minute I turned of the choke and it was running smooth as silk, and super responsive throttle. Like it never even sat for all that time. Am...

Re: Loud exhaust

If you are Sure that there are no exhaust leaks then someone probably removed some baffling or bypassed the collector box or installed different mufflers. My Aspencade is that quiet that I’ve already been asked if it was Electric. Mufflers are getting harder to find even used and the collector box i...

I think what Andy meant was that a new tire of the same size has more tread on it and is therefore larger in diameter than the worn tire of the same size.

Re: replacing windshield on 2000 GL1500SE

The 2 holes on each side of the garnish need to fit freely over the posts with the screw holes in and move freely. That’s what tightens and loosens the windshield when moving the levers.

Re: My 1500 went flying!

Actually a very common problem with the highway pegs - if you drop the bike, they often crack the valve covers. On mine, I kept the highway pegs at the very front, away from the valve covers, so they would not rotate into them and crack it. I removed mine for this very reason after reading about th...

Sounds like these bikes are cold blooded. It was 65-70 degrees this weekend and going down the highway it was barley of cold. But it would come right up to 3/4 and fan would kick on if stationary for even 3 minutes. It still bothers my OCD BC I feel like it should run in normal even in 30-degree we...

Re: Fuel shutoff not closing

Just a follow up on my fuel shut off results. As I said, I installed it back on the bike and rode it. Brought it back and shut it off. Re: Fuel shutoff not closing

Thanks for the vid Mike. I watched several others but that is the first time I saw that one. I assembled mine exactly the same way. Not sure if I’m overthinking this or not but I don’t want to get into a siphon situation if a float malfunctions and end up with a hydrolocked engine

Re: Fuel shutoff not closing

Is it possible to put the diaphram and spring in backwards where the spring will hold the valve open instead of closed? If it can then you would be able to blow through it and it would not shut off the fuel supply. I have repaired one on my 92 Interstate but I don't remember what it looked like. Ju...

Re: Fuel shutoff not closing

Thanks for the explanation Scott. It’s back on the bike. My next question-is there a way to test it for correct operation? The way it is designed if I’m comprehending it correctly, the fuel pump could have enough pressure to push through the valve but it should stop gravity flow to the carbs when th...

Fuel shutoff not closing

I know this topic has been discussed at length but I’m starting a new post to get some opinions on my specific issue. My fuel shutoff valve developed a leak so I ordered a repair kit. There was a tear in the rubber diaphragm that is spring loaded and stops fuel flow when the engine stops and there i...

Re: Hitachi alternator parts

Have you checked with your local alternator repair shop? If they don't have a line on one it probably isn't made but I venture to say it is available and that would be the easiest way to get it. I agree but the only local shop that I know of in my area that I would trust I can’t get to answer the p...
