Re: HUNTING IDLE, DEAD SPOT OFF IDLE

Fans have their own temp switch, in the bottom of left radiator. Next to switch there’s ground wire for radiator. Check and clean both the ground wire connection and the temp switch connector/wire. If you remove and ground the Temp switch wire, fans should turn on (power on or bike running) I just h...

Re: HUNTING IDLE, DEAD SPOT OFF IDLE

Hi, Please read these, my wing had not this recall done so I updated slow jets to #55 and rebuilted accelerator pump. Other recall, vent hose routing is done. I keep pilot screws open 3 1/8 turns like -88 manual says. The orange tube under heat mat is vacuum for ecu. Important that it is good, no le...

Re: New Member, COOLING FAN advice please

Hi James, Yes, fans should operate same way both when they are engaged. Left fan connector pins have good clean surfaces? I don’t know if motor can be opened and cleaned, or supply 12v to run it manually if it gets better? I would replace it, then it should work perfect. Remember also to check and c...

Re: Cruise control speeding up on bumps

Hi, I have the same ;) I believe there’s only one opto sensor in speedo (speed assy) for cruise. So I quess when hitting a bump, front end ”jumps” up a bit so it makes speedo needle drop and system will react and correct by increasing speed. Anyways mine has little fluctuation 1-2 mph even when driv...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

For reference, this kit would include all but it says fitting only for models 1988, 1989 and 1990. Which is correct?? You won't find this available anywhere else. Sourced for the best available parts from 3 continents and combined them in a unique combination that represents real value. Kit is appro...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

Screws are holding acc pump to bowl base, should have no access to inside bowl/fuel. It is just loose, you can see alignment dowel what guides acc pump to correct position (last pic in the link) Check this Randakk’s Blog. Pay attention to bowl gasket but also check valve pipe O- rings (2 pcs). I’d s...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

Look this pic (link pic), you’ll see the draining tubes attached to bowles and short tube piece connected to T- connector (next to idle cable) Short tube looks like same as in your pic 2# https://www.google.com/search?q=gl1500+carb+pics+bowl+draining+tubes&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjY9e-E0p3hAhXrlosKHRNdD...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

REPLACE the orange tube(s), looks bad. #2, could bigger one be breather tube connected to that black plastic T? Smaller one could be bowl draining tube going under bike. I think the nipples are for bowl draining, you are missing tubes from them, connected together to that tube going under bike? Can ...

Damn ground wire (for cooling fan switch)

Lucky this happened in garage, I left engine running for a while. Fans didn’t come on so it threw some coolant out. Quickly bottom panel off, I loosened the ground wire screw, wiggled wire and fans started to run.
One important ground point to keep clean!!

Hi,
I believe air (lighter) is easier to get out from the top.
I prefer to use vacuum (large syringe with tube) than pressure.
Especially my clucth slave needed vacuum ;)

Re: Gas cap suction pressure and tank noise is not normal

Hi all, How about -88 model cap? It does not have that red tube / breather nipple at all. I always hear a pressure sound but never had any issue with it. Gas smell was there when the heating isolation mat was torn down. Had also hard starting issues with hot engine after sitting an hour. I placed a ...

Re: Blackwing fork brace availability

Check carefully front wheel bearings, I had similar symptoms last summer, especially when turning bike in uneven non-tarmac. First I retightened head bearings, no help. Then noticed right side wheel bearing having a noticeable play. Bike ran straight but was ”restless” very low speeds. I rebuilted f...

Check the carb’s choke plunger, when you push choke off. I had a case that left carb plunger stayed a bit open. Was a choke cable /carb mechanism issue.
