Re: Honda disgraced themselves with the 2018 Goldwing

I have had all the GWs too;.but the 05 was the newest electrical nightmare for me. I just got the 2019 GW 1200 . looks like a 84. simple to work on like a 84. Now that's a great looking bike! Wish I could go buy a new one just like it. I actually wrote & called Honda and asked them to make a ...

Re: Honda disgraced themselves with the 2018 Goldwing

after reading all that, I'm very disappointed  that Honda charges such a price for a Motorcycle that doesn't cater for all forms of personal gadgets like the phone - just Apple :!: Also with so many issues that should have been picked up during testing  :?: As, for luggage capacity reduc...

Re: Honda disgraced themselves with the 2018 Goldwing

I agree that Honda really dropped the ball with the 2018 Goldwing. I had been waiting patiently for the 2018 Goldwing, thinking that I would trade in my '96 GL1500. The 2018 misses the mark on so many levels I ended up trading for a 2019 Harley Davidson. Here's a few of the things that are wrong wi...

Re: Rationalizing Bikes

I just had a new "Ricks" regulator soldered in and it does not have ONE aftermarket or accessory on the entire bike except for highway boards. I keep the load as light as possible. I watch it all the time now that it didn't work once! haha But it is holding steady at 14.1 volts.

Re: Rationalizing Bikes

I too had a 1200, was very happy with it until I rode a friend's 1500 through an Advanced Rider Course track. So I got the 1500. Was very happy with it until I rode a friend's 1800..... So I got an 1800. Bottom line - don't look at or ride anyone else's bike! It gets expensive  I had a 2001 18...

Re: 2015 Goldwing (40th Anniversary) disappointment

I can't afford a new GoldWing no matter what they do to it so for me it's not a big deal. I do agree with you though and think that Honda should listento their customers a little more. Lastly I have a friend who ditched his GoldWing for a BMW and now wishes he hadn't. Can I ask why your friend wish...

Re: Adding an avatar to your profile

You'll notice some members have little pictures next to every messages they write - these are called Avatars. Up until now, it's been a bit of a pain to add these - you had to know how to resize a picture to fit, and if you didn't get it right, the system would reject it. I changed that today, addi...

Re: Looking to buy a '85 GW 1200 Limited Edition...

Did you finally buy it? :?: You never did say a price. :?: The bike looks amazing. I would jump on it if the price was reasonable and I had the cash on hand. It looks like it came out of a time machine. :D I would LOVE to know the answer too! I found another bike like mine with only 20K and...

One quick thing, don't forget to take the 3 wire connector off (stator to rectifier) and solder the wires solid!! VERY IMPORTANT!!

Re: Looking to buy a '85 GW 1200 Limited Edition...

I wouldn't trade my 85 Limited for a 1500 or even the 1800. I don't know if it's the look, feel or exactly what it is I like so much but I have ridden many, many other bikes and this is still my favorite. Parts are readily accessible on eBay and other places too. My Goldwing just runs so good, just ...

Re: Why Aren't You Riding?

I have been riding since I was 8 years old and got a Bridgestone Chibi and things have changed drastically in the last 10 years. I have had more really close calls in the last 3 years than all those before and ALL for ONE reason, cell phones. I was going around a corner and for some reason looked ov...

Re: Which model? (*IF* you were to replace your Wing)

I just test rode/drove a Polaris "Slingshot" and I must say it was FUN in a big way! I would trade my old wing for that any day and it actually cost much less than a new Goldwing!

Re: 85 LTD new owner

Congrats on the Limited! I bought one last year and I had to completely clean it up and solder the wires from the stator, then it charged and runs great. I never did imagine that a flat 4 could run so smoothly and have so much torque, it's unreal actually. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine...

Re: 1985 Limited Fuel Problem, PLEASE Help!

I would love to know that too. I picked up one from a farmer in Iowa, had 29K miles and stored inside. He quit riding it when it quit charging and he took it to dealer and found it would cost around $2K to have fixed. I got really lucky (for once) and soldered the wires and it charges like a champ!
