Re: L E D lights in marker and brakes.

most parts stores who sell led bulbs also sell load simulators you will need one for every led you install to make the tell tale light on the dash go out, I have led bulbs in my 86 sei and I had to use 4 of them one on each turn signal bulb to make the self cancel operate, I didn`t use one on the br...

after many hours of grinding and sanding on the 1200 rear wheel trying to get the 15 inch tire to seat I gave up and purchased a 1500 final drive, wheel caliper bracket and axle spacer so I could mount a car tire on the rear of my 1200 sei. I bought a general altimax 195/55 16. got it done last nigh...

Re: bottom end motor noise

the trans is inside the case haves situated below the crankshaft, you have to split the case to get to the trans, the clutch is at the right rear of the engine and can be changed with the engine in the bike, mine is an 86 1200 sei and I installed a new clutch in my bike the hardest part was getting ...

Re: Ltd runs to rich

There are two sensors above and in front of the air cleaner cant remember what honda calls them, they are sensors that detect manifold pressure or vacuum, the hoses to them tend to dry rot and leak vacuum causing the engine to run richer than it should, my sei had similar issues. I replaced the vacu...

Re: 1985 Fuel Injected Bike Wont Start

if your bike will run with added fuel but dies when that fuel runs out is a sign that your fuel delivery sys has an issue, either fuel pump inop fuel filter plugged or for some reason the ecm is not firing your injectors. fuel pump only runs for a couple of seconds when the key is turned on and shou...

Re: 1986 GL1200A heel toe shifter bolt

I had similar issue with my heel toe set up,
found the washers were too thick and had
to file or sand one washer to make it thinner and
then it began shifting without binding. hope this helps.

just a heads up the right handle brake or front brake lever only
operates one disc on the front, the rear brake is coupled to one
front rotor and the rear rotor. my 86 does not stop well only using the
front brake lever.

Re: Shinko 230 or 777 and balancer stuff????

the last two tires I have installed on my gl1200 have
been the shinko 230, I get one season out of them and
they are wore out, outside of the short life they are
decent tires. I'm going to the dark side this year,
with a nanking 165/80r15.

I had the same issue when riding in 98 degree weather, I looked on flea bay for a set of air deflectors, they were called air wings, I installed them and they make a much needed improvement in air flow around the driver/pass area they can be rotated/adjusted to direct air in or keep it out if you ar...

Re: Compression readings....

being an auto mechanic for 30 plus years, when I do a compression test I look more for one cyl considerably lower than the others, if all cyl are within 10% I call it good, as long as I get reading higher than 100 lb. I had a mechanic working for me that would do a comp test and only let the compres...

Re: Help! Having clutch issues and trying to limp my bike home.

when I got my 86 sei I was having clutch non releasing issues found the clutch master low on fluid, filled pumped a dozen or so time and was fine for about 2 weeks then happens again, so I decided to rebuild the slave cyl, I couldn`t find leaks any where on the sys, got it done and again it fails ag...

Re: 86 SEi, gas in oil.

one thing to think about, with the injectors out of the engine on the bench they are not subjected to the heat of the engine with it running, for 22.00 I would replace them, save the one with the good spray pattern and trash the rest. I don`t know if the sei used a pressure regulator, most cars with...

Re: 86 SEi, gas in oil.

I have an sei when I got mine the vacuum lines to the pb sensors were
old tired and cracking causing vacuum leaks to sensors which will make your
bike run rich, and also crappy, I replaced all vacuum lines to both sensors and
it made a world of difference on how it runs.
