Re: Unavailable Turn Switch

I would remove and check inside first before searching for a new/used one.
If the spring is the culprit you can try to find a replacement of that only.

Re: Starting Issue with my GL1500 SE

Before deciding on something you should do some checks. You can use a voltmeter to measure any possible voltage drop at a connection. Normally there should not be any voltage reading between two points of the connection. So if you read any voltage between for example the battery terminal and its con...

Re: Starting Issue with my GL1500 SE

If the terminal of the battery is loose, corroded or bad, it will create resistance that will cause voltage drop and it will turn into heat.

So you should replace the damaged terminal/post first.

I would order a new o ring and replace it.
Don't try to over torque the bolts to prevent oil leak. Or you may end up with a broken mount like below.

Re: Removing body panel to remove header

You can remove the exhaust pipe cover while the cable is attached there (as shown below for the left side). There is another bolt behind the horn holding the cover in place. I think you couldn't see it.
After removing the cover, you can take the cable off as described in the previous posts.

Re: Ratteling hydrolic lifters on startup

It may be the exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold. It is known as making this kind of noise.

Remove the lower cover and check any leaks, loose studs and nuts, bad copper gasket.

Re: Ratteling hydrolic lifters on startup

So I noticed my engine producing an annoying knock or tick from the left side. Sometimes I can hear it and other times I can’t. Yesterday was particularly loud and as the rpms increased the the ticking increases. Can’t really say it’s knock and definitely not a piston pinging knock but none the les...

Re: Air hose?

It is the air outlet to inflate the tires. It should be kept inside the right saddle bag. You will need another hose like below to use it.
Check this video for how to or "how not to" use it. Actually you should turn the key into the P position and press the Outlet button.

Re: 89 Cruise problem

It can be a very easy or a very complicated problem. Most probably one of the 3 safety switches connected in series may be the culprit. Or one of the other inputs listed below is missing, or one of the components in the cruise control system is bad. Also if a LED bulb is used as the tail/brake light...

I saw that. Do you know what it does with them since it is not using that to measure speed? Cancel the cruise control if you set it while doing a wheelie? :? The explanation given in the ETM is below. However, since we know that we can manipulate the upper set limit by swapping the gear 4 and 5 inp...

In 94 the cruise control gets it's pulses from the engine speed.
Correct but, it still uses speed pulses too.

Can you set the cruise control when in gear 4 or 5?
Because the same speed pulse signal goes there too.

There are 2 contacts of the switch as shown in the diagram below.
One goes to the light and the other goes to ECU. Remove C28 connector and check its operation with a multimeter.

Side stand has a safety switch which kills the engine when it is down if the bike is in gear.
But the centerstand does not have such a safety switch.

does the clock get power from the radio?
According to the wiring diagram the backup voltage from fuse #13 goes to the radio and cassette player.
And a black wire from the radio and cassette player goes to the clock of the LCD.

If you can't find the correct bolt, you may want to find a bolt like below, cut the threaded section and die the metric size on the unthreaded section. Or a machine shop will do it for you.

Thanks for the reply. It just seems so low, having the rear suspension at 4 kg/cm2 I see. Are you adjusting the pressure while the bike is on the centerstand? Hi Guys,
Any idea how to convert the dash from metric to imperial.
I'm especially keen on changing the onboarding air pump readings to read PSI for the rear suspension.
Thanks,
Steve
I would not care about what the unit is, just know the maximum pressure number and adjust accordingly.
