Re: Indicators

This can be an alternative for bypassing the self canceling unit.
C90 is behind the left side fairing, and it is a 6 pin brown connector.
You will need 1 normally open and 1 normally closed relay and make the connections according to the drawing.
Then you may remove the self canceling unit.

Re: Loud noise behind valve covers

Have you checked the timing belt tensions? Or have you done something in there? Here is the video that I have recorded about a similar issue. You can find the details in the link given under the video. xE-zI4_YwyE https://www.goldwingfacts.com/forum/2-goldwing-technical-forum/626025-gl1500-odd-engin...

Re: Rear Wheel Bearing different after 1990?

Although I have downloaded the parts catalog, I use the database of partzilla.com which is much more practical.
As you click on a part, you can see the "related fitment" of that part along the years and the models of the bike.

Re: Rear Wheel Bearing different after 1990?

According to partzilla parts catalog;
91053-MN5-003 (The wider one) can be used on all 1988-2000 models,
But the other one has various part numbers along the years.

I took WingAdmin's schematic posted above and added the relay. The Left side below is original, the right side shows the Mod.... I think the confusion is because of the unupdated picture on page 15-14 of the service manual.

You can download the wiring diagrams in the following link.
Especially, if your bike is an European model, you can use the EuroSpec diagram that I have added in the PDF file.

It would be interesting to try it. If it bolts up correctly, it may work, as the later model would ground through the housing and simply not use the negative cable. I'd be apt to trying it. Let us know if you decide to try it. Russell Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt thos...

Re: Reverse gear relay and something else..

The part in the picture seems like the carburetor control unit (note that it will also have an ignition control unit), but it should be on 1988 and 1989 models. If your bike is a 1990-2000 model it will have only one unit called Engine Control Unit. The Reverse System has several relays and parts. I...

Re: LEDs and flashers - ya... that again...

The bank angle sensor does not have any function here.
The steering angle sensor is under the fairing with a plastic cover between the front forks. And it is the part of the turn signal cancel unit (TSCU) which is inside the steering column.

Re: LEDs and flashers - ya... that again...

TSCU will automatically stop providing ground to the flasher, after completing a turn while moving or after completing 500feet (150m). There is not a timer or lean angle input for the TSCU; only Speedometer pulses to calculate the distance and the angular input from the sensor under the fairing are ...

Re: Help removing rear tire

The rear fender inner part is actually two plastic parts. One is connected to the trunk assy, and the other (front part) is not. You should disconnect them from each other, that may be the problem you are facing.

Re: Do I have relay failing

While jump starting you might have moved a part, terminal, connector, contact, fuse etc which is not tight enough. I would recommend you check the parts there. Don't forget to check the 30A fuse and its housing on the relay A. For the reverse system, move the reverse lever up and down several times,...

Re: 2000 GL1500 blowing fuse IGN START CRUISE

If you could add a picture of the affected area it would be very useful for future reference. And this is the reason why I prefer removing the terminals of the battery and using a multimeter instead of a bulb method. Also if there is a blowing fuse, we should not replace it more than three times as ...

You should also take into consideration that the plastic housing of the relay could be melted and causing short between contacts.

Here is a rear view of the fuse relay box.

Re: 2000 GL1500 blowing fuse IGN START CRUISE

Remove the battery terminals and the fuse blowing. Then set the multimeter to buzzer mode, and connect one probe to a ground point on the bike, and the other probe into the fuse housing (find the correct terminal hearing the buzzer). Move the cables and wires until you don't hear the buzzer, and loc...
