Re: Loose Throttle Grip

I have used cotton tape on the inner piece to fill the gap, then removed the end cap of the throttle grip and placed two pieces of wire at the length of the grip, 180 degree apart, while sliding the grip over them, and installed the end cap. These two pieces of wire created two extra holding points ...

Re: Fuel smell after riding ?

It can be a stuck or dirty valve in the gas cap, or a worn gasket in the gas cap. The tank will pressurize when it heat soaks from the engine after the bike is parked. If the gas cap lets pressure out too early, you will smell gas. You might try filling the tank right up to the top before parking. ...

Re: Gear display

Mario, As WingAdmin suggested, I used 2 white LEDs for the LCD, and it is now quite readible and still blue. It also illuminates the marks and needles of the fuel and temp gauge as white, which makes them more beautiful. Here is the T5 led with 3 smd that I have purchased from Aliexpress, note that ...

Tapping with a hammer may help loosening the bolt. As stated before if you have an impact driver it will help a lot.

I am not sure heat will be good there, because the lower bolt is installed onto the final drive case, not frame.

Re: Rear air shock bolt removal

I had broken that bolt while fastening, and had hard time to remove the piece inside. It is a specially designed bolt #5 in the picture below and easy to break the threaded part because that part is smaller in diameter. So be careful while working on it. Probably the penetrating oil did not reach th...

Re: New crashbars and highway pegs

The location of the foot pegs is not good. You should install them onto the front vertical piece of the crash bar where it will not touch the ground while maneuvering or dropping the bike. If your legs are not long enough you could use a "Z" piece and adjust the foot pegs as shown in the following p...

If I am not mistaken, main difference is at the design of the fork tubes especially at the triple three mounting location.

Re: Goes forward when in reverse???

One electrical possibility that I can imagine is, if a later year reverse system has been used on a 88-89 model bike, while in reverse mode, positive voltage will be provided to the negative terminal of the starter motor and since the relay B is off at this moment there will not be a short between i...

Re: Goes forward when in reverse???

Wingadmin if I am not mistaken, on 88 and 89 models the starter does not use its mount as a ground. It uses the relay B or reverse system to complete the ground.
So there is a possibility of an electrical issue as well as a mechanical issue, in my opinion.

Re: Goes forward when in reverse???

Built from a basket case. Starts, shifts stops as it should. Everything seems to be working properly. When reverse is engaged the bike goes forward. What did I do wrong? Have you used the correct manual and correct parts for your bike? 88 and 89 models have a different starter motor and reverse/sta...

Re: 2000 GL1500 SE & issue with hose for compressor to fill tires

Then you should check the outlet hose up to the compressor behind the left saddlebag. It may be bent or damaged.

By the way, can you get air out when you push the needle inside the valve, while operating the outlet function?

Re: 2000 GL1500 SE & issue with hose for compressor to fill tires

Remove the needle inside the air outlet schrader valve.
When not running the air pump, and when the bike is not on the centerstand, does the suspension pressure read on the LCD decrease?

I suspect the suspension valve under the trunk, behind the right saddlebag stays open all the time.

Re: GL 1500,89

The consumption of my bike is 5.0-6.5 lt/100km, according to the last 2 year records. I've never gotten that kind of mileage! 5.0 l/100km works out to 56 mpg, 6.5 l/100km is 44 mpg. I get 40-45 mpg, which is from 6.3 to 7.0 l/100 km. Wingadmin I think your lt/100km calculation is not correct. 35mpg...
