Re: GL1500 Headlight adjustment screw

Lower two screws are for horizontal adjustment of the headlight.
You should check the headlight aim according to the regulations in your country, and then decide what to do.

As said there are two lower screws there, #4 moves only one, #3 moves both mirrors left or right.

Re: Shifter support questions

Thanks Erdaniz, I haven't got back to this yet. I need to go get the right inserts. I have 3/8 and 5/16 but not the metric one this bolt is. Do you know what size I need. I'll take bolt to store when I look. Hopefully get this done soon. Actually you don't need to use a metric one. After installing...

Sometimes the fuel tank vent may make strange noises. Remove the fuel tank cap when you hear the noise and check if it disappears.

Anytime I turn the switch to any position the left turn signal blinks. When switch is in on position turn right signal will blink but left is also on. Only way to turn it off is take the acc fuses out
I think you have a bad hazard lights relay or switch.

Re: LCD clock

For the relays in the relay box except the blue one, you can use hmc deco 95220-22100 relay used in 1990-2000 model Hyundai cars.

Re: LCD clock

Yes. There is an aftermarket alarm, and a couple of cigarette sockets. I'll check through those. If the alarm has a connection to the hazard lights, it can be the culprit because the LCD unit and hazard lights use the same ACC fuse circuit shown in the diagram below. image.png If there is a short o...

Re: LCD clock

There may be a melted connector, relay pin, broken wire etc. making a short somewhere.
Is there any electrical modification on the bike, any alarm system etc?

Re: LCD clock

Would you remove the fuse #9 (back up), and check again, then the fuse #10 (ACC)?
Report the results and then we can continue troubleshooting.

Re: Shifter support questions

You had installed the rivet nut incorrectly on the tool in the picture. The head should stay outside of the hole, and as you tighten the nut, it will expand behind the hole. The hole should be 8mm in width if I am not mistaken, which is 5/16". When you remove the engine guard you can verify it corre...

Re: Shifter support questions

Thanks for the replies. Yes the mounting bolt broke off from the frame but I don't see how the riveted threaded nut would work. Possibly the nut could be rewelded on the frame but I'm sure I would at least have to remove the crash bars to get a decent view of it. I actually got the brace on and wor...

Re: Shifter support questions

If I understand correctly you are talking about the nut on the frame where the engine guard is bolted. If it is broken, you can replace it with a insert nut like below without welding. You normally will need a special tool to install it, but you can install it with the method in the video below as w...

I think it is one of the 4 handlebar bolts (8x35) shown as #31 in the picture.
Did you surmise that from my post JUST before yours?
No. I just thought the chrome plated bolts on the bike, and checked their lengths and compared with the length given in the first post.

There is not any part called as reverse selenoid on the bike.
Instead, there are several relays and electronic components you should check.
Here are the parts and circuit diagram for 88 models.

Thank you so much for the response. I have had the radio out and sent to Sierra several times and need to do it again as the tape player isn't working again. Just to be clear, fuse #13 for the radio memory is inside the relay box, not the fuse box.
Since it is a 89 model, the backup fuse (#9) is in the fuse box.
#13 backup fuse is found in the relay box on 93-2000 models.

Re: Oil Light No Longer Comes On

As I think about this, if the reverse gear actuation also relies on an oil sending unit signal, and my reverse gear works, then I don't need to test anything... the sender works because reverse works, so it must be the light. On the right track? Most probably the culprit is the bulb itself in this ...

Re: Oil Light No Longer Comes On

The reverse control unit uses the same oil pressure input coming from the oil pressure sensor.
So you may check the reverse system functions or not, to get a better idea about the problem.
Here is the wiring diagram.

After doing some more research, it seems as if the 88 has just the temp sensors on the thermostat housing while the 89 has the thermo sensor on the right intake manifold.
No, the change starts at 1990 models.

Re: Electrical issue

Ok. That is the starter/reverse fuse which provides the +12V to the coil of the reverse relay switch when the reverse lever is at the down position. And also it provides +12V to the Neutral light. Then reverse relay switch (it is under the seat next to the 65A fuse) provides the +12V to the coil of ...
