Re: fork springs help.

I think the difference is because of some changes or modifications made during the years.
My 2000 model bike has the piece #5 in the picture.

Re: fork springs help.

I am not sure the model differences between the years, but on my 2000 model bike, I hadn't experienced such a tension.
Just jack up the front tire to extend the forks and then remove the top nut.
After removing the top nut you can drill and tap it for an Allen bolt.

In neutral and bike started up?
It is not necessary to have the bike running. Here are the related pages in the Owners manual.

And for "the starts up AFTER releasing the starter button" syndrome you can make a modification described in the following link. https://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-goldwing-technical-forum/611705-gl1500-starts-after-releasing-button-solved.html That's just hiding the symptom of the problem, ins...

Re: 96 gl1500 no spark

Have you done something related with the pulse generators?
There was an issue in which the PG connectors were found to be swapped.

Also remove, check and reinstall the ECU connector. Because the real connector is inside the black connector, and it is sometimes found to be loose or disconnected.

Thanks AZgl1800, I will take a look at that site today. The L Shelter, this is the OEM Term, is the left side of the fairing with the vents in it that the Reverse level goes through.

L Shelter.jpg
The OEM term seems to be SHELTER SET, L. SIDE.
And the other one is SHELTER SET, R. SIDE.

WingAdmin, not related with this subject, but I have noticed that the handlebar switch assy is loose and moving as you turn the throttle.
I thought you may have not noticed.

Re: Rear Shock air question

To give an idea, you can buy and dismantle a cheap compressor and compare the pistons. Maybe it is a standard part. Second, you can build the piston rod by yourself using a piece of aluminum and some tools. It mustn't be too difficult. Third, you can take the broken piston to a welding shop and have...

There are two o-rings (not washers) before and an o-ring after the fitting. I think you couldn't locate them on partzilla. Re: Won't turn over

Pretty sure the Bank Angle sensor is on the sub-frame behind the left saddlebag under the trunk. With the bags and trunk hinged up the BAS thinks the bike is standing on its front wheel and won't start. Tip the bags down and it should start ok. Just a little correction, Bank Angle Sensor is behind ...

Re: Blowing fuse. Wire question. GL 1500

Please pardon my ignorance, but, a bad relay can’t cause this issue, can it? There was an issue like this and the culprit was found to be a bad relay. If the relay pins melted, there is a chance to make a short inside, since the +12v and ground soldering points are very close to each other as shown...

2001 GL1500 carbs!
You should be able to sell those for a million bucks.....
....since Honda didn't make any 2001 gl1500s.
1500 production ended in 2000.
2001 was the start of the 1800, and those were fuel injected.
Maybe he is referring to Valkyries (GL1500C) produced till 2003.

Re: GL1500 Carb Control Unit

So, I don't know what you are trying to do but, you should either go to the Honda dealer and request for the SB2 update, or replace both ICU and the CCU at the same time, in my opinion.
Or replace the original piece with the same one.
