Re: Gl1200 shuts down while driving

Yes it does sound like pulse generators or your case pulse generator with the SEI version. If it is bad you can replace it when you change the timing belts. For your piece of mind the belts should be changed after sitting for so long.

Re: Heated Grips

I use hippo hands already, and yes they really help on the cold days. I think combining them with the grip warmers just might be perfect. I wear enough layers that I am very comfortable, with the engine heat even my feet are warm. The hospital I work at charges about $20.00 a day to park a car, moto...

Re: Leaking antifreeze

I finally took ten minutes to take off the lowers, found two leaks so far. One was the upper rad hose lower connection, the other one is the over flow tube where it connects to the rad. I will pull the shelter off next and see what else I can find.. Good thing I have the Aspencade to ride,it allows ...

Leaking antifreeze

Hello folks, my 86 Interstate is leaking antifreeze from the exhaust studs on the left side. Is the a coolant tube that can leak in this area or am I definitely into a new head gasket? The bike is running good, no smoke.

Re: Pulse generator check

Yes both pulse generators should show ohms when tested. Usually the resistance will read okay when cold, once your bike warms up and dies check them immediately, if the pulse generators show 0 ohms you need to replace them. If they both read good at this time you have you have to look elsewhere. Goo...

Re: Tires

The Shinko Tour Masters will give you a good ride, they are good in the rain and hold onto the road quite good. I get one season out of the rear tire, the front one is good for a few seasons.

Re: stator replace

I did the conversion on my Aspencade, it was not difficult. I am very happy with the results. I no longer have to worry about the stator failing when I am touring. It is worth the peace of mind... :D

Re: 86 Aspey pulse generator

Yes the pulse generator can do this. You can check the resistance of the generator before you start the bike. When the bike dies check the resistance again, if no resistance the pulse generator is bad. There are a few things that can cause this also. Good luck.

Re: Runs perfect then shuts down, rinse repeat

It sounds like it could be your pulse generators. They will stop working once the motor warms up and work again once the motor cools down.

Interesting Ride

I went for a short ride today to get some supplies. On the way home I heard a strange noise that I thought came from the radio. Unfortunately it was the valve stem tearing apart on my rear wheel. I was only doing about 60 mph at the time. Any how it was quite a wobbly ride until I got stopped. No ha...

Re: Shinko 230 or 777 and balancer stuff????

I have used Shinko Tourmaster 230 for a couple of years. They are great tires for wet roads. I do ride a bit fast and they handle very well. The front tire has about 18,000 kilometres on it and is about half worn out. I replaced the rear tire at about 12,000 kilometres. They do give a comfortable ri...

That is a great question. Sometimes things just do not work the way we need them to. I do not blame you for being frustrated. Electrical problems are not easy to fix.
