Re: New to me '82 GL1100

Congrats on the new scoot. I have the same year and model wing. Love it, except for the oil leak, the starting that's beginning to fail, etc. They are fun to ride though!

Re: Stuck Float Procedure

Well Gents, I got to working on the wing this morning. Poured in some seafoam and with the fuel petcock in the "off" position, started the bike and let it idle until it stopped. Sat on the bike and sloshed the fuel around and then turned the petcock to the "on" position and started it up. Worked lik...

What has worked in the past for me is starting the engine with the petcock "OFF", running until the carbs are getting low on fuel, then turning the petcock "ON". This can flush out the grit, but only if that is the issue.

Cheap to try.

Re: What's everyone's two-wheeled History?

Great thread. Love hearing about how everyone got into motorcycling. I never wanted to ride. Had uncles that rode (One was a Hells Angel even) and my Dad even had a Vespa but I never really wanted to ride. Until, one day in my high school library, I opened a magazine (can't remember which one) and w...

Stuck Float Procedure

Gents, I have an 82 GL1100 that I believe has a stuck float. Engine turns over and gas starts pouring out onto the ground. Gas seems to be coming from up high on the engine, most likely the carb area. I was in the midst of putting together my v-strom when this happened so I didn't adequately diagnos...

Re: Picking up and Riding 800 miles

Have a great trip. I bought a Yamaha GTS-1000 a couple years ago on eBay (sight unseen, except for a pic or two on eBay) and flew in and rode it back home (roughly 800 miles). Had a blast and I have a great story to go along with the bike. I also have the story of driving over 1k miles to Bucharest,...

Sorry to hear about your accident but glad you and your wife were able to walk away.

I have a low mileage 82 for sale, but I am located in Sumter, SC.
