Re: Clutch Line 2000GL1500A

Thanks bluthundr31 I tried to get something in the hole, tried a piece of fine electrical stand wire. didn't go. Decided to use a large syringe, with some 1/4 inch rubber tubing, cut bluntly. I placed it against the hole and sucked. Some what better now. Didn't experience a slippage between 3 and 5 ...

Clutch Line 2000GL1500A

I want to replace my clutch line with a SS braided line. I figure I should do it as I am experiencing some slippage on hard acceleration in 3/4th gear above 4 k rpm..it suddenly goes to 6 k without a speed increase. If I back off the throttle and apply slowly its fine. My reading of the most common p...

Re: Starter won't disengage (kinda) 2000 gl1500

Well I cheated. Didn't resolve it but did a temp fix. Put it on the center stand, and disconnected the wire with the blue insulator on the "B" relay. Easy to get to. Put the battery cable back on and there was a noise at the A" relay..and it didn't sound good, but I quickly found Neutral, and then t...

Starter won't disengage (kinda) 2000 gl1500

Rode home today from work, everything was fine. Came back out after an hour, put the key in pulled the clutch lever, pressed the starter button heard an noise, stopped pressing the stater button, and it lurched forward as I released the clutch lever. (the engine had not started. ) Quick thinking, pu...

Re: WTB 1500 2000 left shelter

Is there something special about that piece for the 2000 model? There's lots of left inner fairings on Ebay. Newbie here! So when I looked at ebay I looked for the item by part number, or proper name, of course! So there are more listed under fairing or fairing cover but most appear to be in the sa...

WTB 1500 2000 left shelter

Someone attached a deflector "wing" for cooling the legs, and did it wrong. The whole top of the shelter where it attaches to the fairing is , well, gone. It was pulverized. smashed into tiny little pieces that could not be glued or otherwise repaired. and to rebuild, the curves are very complex. I ...

Re: GL1500 pouring fuel out of overflow

Not to digress about your fuel issue but you mentioned brakes: Have you read about the brakes? If yours is like my 2000 the rear and left front operate off the foot pedal. Per the 2000 Honda Manual page 14-7 Bleed the left front caliper first, then the rear. Use DOT4 Fluid The front hose by the way ...

Re: Rear Case? 2000 1500

rear case 2.jpg So I got the alternator out. The top mounting screw bracket on the rear case has two fractures : one seen in the photo at, say, 10 O'clock and the other hidden on the backside at, say, 2 O'clock. ain't no way it can be welded in place. I had thought of using a smaller diameter bolt ...

Re: Rear Case? 2000 1500

If I were closer I would weld it for you. Find a welder who does marine engine repairs (outboards). They have the skills to heliarc that with the bolt in place as not to kill the threads. You know I have been looking at a lot of Ebay photos of the case. I think that the cracked part of the case is ...

Re: alternator seals 2000 1500se

Yup. the Honda part is the one I ordered from Partzilla. And the stock oil seal ans the rubbers. And I found a neat video on Compufire disassembly: From YouTube: bbYgCvK-jQA Now the guy got some electrics wrong but he noted that, and it shows step by step disassembly. Except of course , the oil seal...

Re: alternator seals 2000 1500se

No, it means that the shaft oil seal is bad. Oil is getting past the seal and going into the alternator. If it were the O-ring, there would (not) be oil on the externals of the alternator and not the internals. So Mike B then the question is : is the stock shaft seal the correct one for the Compufi...

ABS Plastic Patch "Rudy's" from Cyclemax

I just bought a couple of patch kits from cyclemax. I thought that they would be thinner...says 1/8" just didn't realize how thick 1/8" really is. 1.5 x 2.0 x .125 I also thought it would be somewhat flexible. It is not at all. The inside of the side covers are complex curves. Flat hard plastic even...
