Re: Painted or Vinyl Wrapped?

Looks great! And the paint will be exactly as it was when or if you take it off. Vinyl wrap isn't like duct tape, the adhesive won't come off on the bike when it's removed. And it preserves the original paint from fade, scratches, and rock chips as the vinyl will absorb the impact from small pebbles...

Re: Drain carbs for winter storage, or just add Stabil and keep carbs full?

I was sure I needed to rebuild the carbs on my gl but due to time and financial constraints I didn't get around to it this winter, the bike did however sit 8+ months with a large amount of Lucas Deep Clean fuel system cleaner. The bike has never run better when I took it out for the first time this ...

Re: GL1500 LED's

A quick note regarding 194 v 168 bulbs. Both are T3 bulbs (size and shape, wedge base) Off the Phillips site 194 bulb is 3.8w and 14v 168 bulb is 4.9w and 14 v Just like home lighting the higher the wattage the brighter the bulb, they also pull more amperage and create more heat, and as a result, do...

Re: 96 gl1500 vaccum line issue

I also throttled up the bike a couple times while running to make sure things were moving correctly and only the left side slider will open. Any ideas? They both move when I push them open with my finger but only the left under throttle.

96 gl1500 vaccum line issue

My bike bogs at low rpm and has a surge at idle. I was in the process of tearing everything down to check all of the vacuum lines, and my first problem encountered was someone has the air box off before and stripped one of the screws. After cutting a groove in the screw to be able to remove it with ...

Re: overdrive - gl1500

You could always put a slightly taller tire on it to drop your rpm.

Re: Darkside Tech: Using Car Tires on a Motorcycle Rim

Has anyone tried a 185/60 r16 ct on a 1500? its .3" taller than the 195/55 r16, and a slight bit narrower, but should still be shorter than the austone tire. Im not pulling a trailer so I don't necessarily need the shorter tire and tire rack carries a toyo proxes in the 185/60. http://www.tirerack.c...

Re: Timing belt,, too old?

I just recently purchased a 1996 GL1500SE with 37,000 miles. I purchased it from the 2nd owner who bought it in 2004 with 34,000 miles. This bike was never ridden hard and always garaged. But I do know from the Honda dealer paperwork included with the bike that its been 3 years and about 200 miles s...

Re: Adding an Aux input to the GL1500 radio

Did this today, similar to pbourgoin whereas I wired in a socket, mine is on a short bit of heavy wiring tho and comes out about 4" where the wiring plugs in to the radio under the boot. From there a cord is plugged into it with a bit of heat shrink over it to seal it and hold it in place. Solid and...

Re: How to change your radio lights to LEDs

Did mine while doing an aux input today, I had a bunch of very bright 5mm LED's around and used them. The ones for the wording above the knobs are blue and I filed them down to flatten the ends (helps spread the light rather than focus it), ran the legs through the hole from the bottom side and hot ...
