Not sure about the 1500, but on my 1800 I was able to install them fine without having to remove the saddlebag.

No, the 1500 also has 6 cylinders. You are thinking of the 1200 etc.

I have tried every tire I have been able the find on the market. Dunlop, Bridgestone, Avon, Metzer, Skinko, and Michelin that offers a tire size that will work on a GW. The Michelin Commander II tires are the best I have found for performance and life of tire. I have been reading alot about CT tire...

I have tried every tires on the maket. I ride hard and have got the most milage from these tires than any other. I average 6000 from the rear and 4000 from the front. As for as the rest of the tires on the maket, I am lucky to get 3000 on rear and 2000 on front, they are made for people who ride in...

On the 1800 it's more important to replace/strengthen the bottom part of the triple clamp.

Well my 2009 oscillates, or hunts as I would describe it. Annoys me a lot, but don think I want to install a power commander just to fix that.

Any other solutions known?

Re: GPS Tracking Device comparison: ACR ResQLink+ PLB vs Spot Gen3 Tracker

Of course the DeLorme is considerably more expensive: $380 for the unit and $420/year in subscription fees for service equivalent to the Spot. Text messages are 50 cents each. If you want unlimited text messages, it bumps up to $780/year in subscription fees. When I looked it up it looked like $300...

There is also a commercial product called a DeLorme InReach that offers two way messaging. I have a 1st generation Spot, and I've been thinking about the DeLorme.

Does anybody have any experience with it?

Try just pulling the clutch only a little way in. Preload the shifter, then just pull the clutch a little way in, and set your throttle accordingly. If you want to practice it, just ride along at a constant pace and change up and down through the gears aiming to keep the bike as smooth as possible w...

Re: Gl1800 pogo effect after mono-tube install

I don't believe the 1800 needs a fork brace. But what it does need badly is a much stronger lower triple tree.

I fitted one and it changed the handling out of sight. Search on other 1800 forums for buckskin. He makes a really nice looking one.

Sorry can't help on the pogoing.

I've used a feeler guage to clean the seals many times. Only once have I had to go to the special tool, so that can get you on the road quicker. The amount of oil that gets out this way is minimal, so I wouldn't worry about toping up. Perhaps if you were racing it might make a difference, but not fo...

WingAdmin. Now that I like, especially if the temperature was in C.

I'm with you, every time I look at the commercial gear indicators I think it's to much money for what they do.

Any chance it's something us home hobby people could build?

Re: tying down a wing on the Spirit Of Tasmania & touring Tassie

You can't use the pillion handles, they aren't strong enough. So what I'm talking about is strapping towards the front. You leave the bike in gear, with the side stand down, and they put a velcro strap around the front brake leaver to make sure that is fully on. I put it around the large square sect...

Re: tying down a wing on the Spirit Of Tasmania & touring Tassie

They have trouble with Wings. I've just used their straps, but run them through the frame under the side covers. Then they pull them down from there. The left hand side is hard to feed through, so I keep telling myself to slip a double ended loop strap through the frame before the ride, so I can jus...

Yes

It's something you can do with a full on dirt bike. Not something you can do with any sort of road bike, particularly one that weighs as much as a wing.

With the BMW, I have read in my research, that there is a software fault that occasionally doesn't turn the elections off when you turn the key off, and there is enough drain to flatten the lithium batteries overnight.
